Dragon’s Dogma 2 is a rich adventure game, filled with content. And, as every game worth its salt, it has a bunch of fun achievements and challenges that players try to do. A couple of those revolve around getting your hands on a Medusa Head, namely ”Off with Its Head!” and “Getting a Head”. Whether you want it for the achievements or you want it for the power it will give you, here’s how to find and get a Medusa Head in Dragon’s Dogma 2.

Dragon’s Dogma 2: How to Find a Medusa Head

Finding a Medusa’s Head, unsurprisingly, is the same as finding the Medusa itself. But, this does not refer to the Medusa that you fight at the game’s beginning. When the game starts properly, you can find a Medusa in Battahl. There is a forest in the southwestern area of Battahl called Wyrmsblood Forest. Follow the only trail there is into the forest, and pretty soon you’ll start noticing petrified animals and people. That means that the Medusa’s cave is nearby and you will notice a path that splits off the main trail on your minimap. That is where Medusa is hiding, and the cave itself is called Nera’Battahl Windrift. Enter it and prepare for a fight.

How to Get a Medusa Head in Dragon’s Dogma 2

Medusa Head is not a simple loot that you get just by defeating the monster. Rather, special measures have to be taken for the Head to appear as loot. There are two versions of the Medusa Head: Withered Medusa Head and Preserved Medusa Head.

Withered Medusa Head is easier to obtain. Simply aim for the Medusa’s head and it will fall off once it takes enough damage. This is easily done with ranged attacks. But, Withered Medusa Head is a one-use item and it will decay, just like Ripened Fruit. You can keep it in your Storage to prolong its lifespan. The Preserved version is better, but harder to get.

Preserved Medusa Head requires a bit more effort to obtain, compared to the Withered one. To do this you need a close-combat-oriented Vocation, preferably a Thief. What you should do is climb on the Medusa and repeatedly cut at its neck. Magic is not as precise as close combat and will damage the head itself, thus ruining the process. If you cut the head off quickly enough, you’ll get the Preserved Medusa Head, which has multiple uses and lasts longer. Remember to keep it in your Storage when you are not using it.
