Map size can have a considerable impact on the overall length of the game. Let’s see how big is the map Dragon’s Dogma 2.

Some games can have a lot of content packed into a small map. But, open-world games pride themselves on the size of their maps, and Dragon’s Dogma 2 is no different. The map is split into two huge regions: Vermund and Battahl. Each of those distinct regions has its own climate, settlements, monsters, etc. But just how big is the map in Dragon’s Dogma 2, in total? Let’s find out.

Dragon’s Dogma 2: How Big Is the Map

According to Capcom, the map for Dragon’s Dogma is roughly four times larger the the map for the first Dragon’s Dogma game. It puts it somewhere between 28 to 33 square miles, double the size of The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim’s map.

During one of the interviews, the game’s producer Yoshiaki Hirabayashi, and director Hideaki Itsuno stated that no one has measured the map and that the developers claim that it is even larger than the aforementioned “four times larger”. Furthermore, the emphasis is placed on the map density. There are two large countries, each with many small settlements and larger cities. But, is such a huge map populated accordingly or is there going to be a lot of boring footslogging?

Dragon’s Dogma 2 Map Density

A large map sounds good “on paper”, but that is not to everyone’s liking. Huge maps can offer a lot of content but may be a chore to traverse. Having means of transportation is critical in open-world games. But, the devs assure us that the world is designed to be fun and they have lessened the chore-like feeling when traveling from one place to another: “We have built in a lot of “fun” into the map so that players will not get bored along the way…”. They claim that the map is densely populated with quests, monsters, and dungeons, making every journey an interesting one.

But, for those that want to quickly move from one place to another, there is a fast travel option, using Ferrystones.
