Resident Evil 4 was a lot of things. It was the first leap forward to a new generation of consoles that took a more action-oriented approach to horror. It also gave us the utterly amazing Mercenaries Mode. This allowed players to pick their favorite characters and go on a murderous rampage against ganados on various maps.

So, while players are excited to play the remake’s story, many wonders if the Mercenaries Mode will return.

Can you play Mercenaries Mode in the Resident Evil 4 Remake?

The answer is yes and no. The Mercenaries Mode will be available in the Resident Evil 4 remake, just not right away. The mode will be coming on April 7, 2023, as free DLC. We’ll update this article with any relevant information once the mode becomes available.

The original Mercenaries Mode featured five characters: Leon S Kennedy, Ada Wong, Hunk, Jack Krauser, and Albert Wesker. Aside from Leon, the default character, each additional character was unlocked by attaining a specific rank on a specific map.

The characters came with different loadouts and abilities, which impacted how they played. That being said, we all know that Hunk was the superior choice. No matter who your favorite character or map is, Mercenaries Mode and graphics will add great longevity to the Resident Evil 4 remake, much like it did with Resident Evil Village.

Plus, thanks to how mod friendly the Resident Evil series is on PC, we can expect all kinds of shenanigans and characters to appear in both the main game and in Mercenaries Mode. April 7 can’t come soon enough!
