What is a Purveyor of Curiosities?
A Purveyor of Curiosities is Diablo 4’s take on gambling. Found in various cities throughout Sanctuary, these vendor NPCs offer you random gear in exchange for Murmuring Obols. These items are only identified when you purchase them, so they range from rubbish to Legendary. Besides armor and weapons, they also sell Whispering Keys which you’ll need to open those Silent Chests. You’ll want to farm a lot of Obols before visiting these guys. Be aware that there is a limit to the number of Obols you can have, but you can increase the maximum capacity by earning renown and visiting the Altars of Lilith. Note that the Item Power of the piece of gear you buy scales with your character’s level. As for how many Murmuring Obols you will need, here is the price list:
Item type | Price |
---|---|
One-Hand Weapons (including Wands) | 50 Obols |
Two-Hand Weapons (including Bows and Staffs) | 75 Obols |
Off-Hand Focus Items, Totems and Shields | 40 Obols |
Caps | 40 Obols |
Tunics | 40 Obols |
Pants | 40 Obols |
Gloves | 40 Obols |
Boots | 40 Obols |
Rings and Amulets | 60 Obols |
Whispering Keys | 20 Obols |
