Yup, definitely downgraded, and what happened to this game supposedly running at 60fps? I knew it was bs when they said it. Next up BFH will not be 108p60fps (or at least definitely not a stable 60fps, what a trend.

And btw, to anyone who thinks this is the X1 version, its not, its the PC version, he mentions how now is using a controller rather than a kb and mouse.

Yeah, really disappointing just how big of a downgrade the game has seen. The original 12 minute gameplay demo they showed a year ago made my jaw drop, but all the footage cropping up from this past week looks really bad in comparison. It's disappointing just how much they've scaled it back, and my interest in this game has died along with it.

I found one video which showed some of the areas from the original video as well and yeah, the difference is shocking. They really have gutted the game :(

Developers create a game as big and beautiful as they imagined and when they hit limits scale back for performance and size. So when we see the teaser we are seeing a teaser that is meant to look enticing and great to make you interested but also is early looks too. How many times do you see early looks at movie designs that changed by the end of the film, things end up on the cutting room floor.

Sounds like PC, as he said he was using a keyboard and mouse the first part and then for this one he used a controller, which he said felt a lot better.

I don't think the fps is covered under the parity clause.

But you're right to a degree. If 30 fps is not something you are willing to put up with just get your games on PC instead. Otherwise enjoy the game on your console of choice.

@Double Toasted the parity clause applies to exclusive games as well. Microsoft strong-arm every Sony first party studio into making an XBox Version of their game, and then tuning the PS4 version down to match it. Then when the PS4 version goes gold they send in the heavies to destroy the evidence.

It sounds far-fetched but I used to make up far-fetched stories when I was little and then I stopped, so you can trust my story this time.

Lightning in the PR-release looks off compared to the 2013 version but the PR release looks more polished. Still i liked the 2013 video version more It looke way more colourful than the new one.

I see the difference. However, Dying Light's gameplay trailer video settings are likely maxed out while RadBrad's is the contrary.

In addition, RadBrad said in his first play-through that he played an early build of Dying Light about a year ago and that this current build is a significant graphical improvement.

The trick is that the old movie had many effects exaggerated - the glows, the lighting shafts, autoexposition, motion blur, finally the contrast - everything that helped to distract your attention from the rest of the unfinished enviro and lighting system. The impression was enhanced by fast running that kept the screen - and so the assets - blurred.
But tricks like these are always attractive for a 15 minutes long dynamic, strongly directed movie, but look odd if you stop running and look at the details (fake black shadows everywhere, every wall overexposed, almost white shafts etc.) Also it makes your eyes tired after an hour of playing. Now it's just better balanced. Nothing has disappeared and the quality of some assets are even better. IMO the final version looks more natural and consistent.

I still remember a time when game previews were mostly to CGI, then after that devs toted in engine cut scenes as what the game looked like, now devs are probably using high end PC to reveal graphics but I'm just happy they're showing gameplay instead of CGI and cutscenes.

I'm very happy with game graphics on next-gen consoles (except for the widespread flickering/dithered/low quality shadows).

If you want the game to look as good as possible get a $500 graphics card, other than that I'm pretty happy with what these $400 boxes ($300 in the case of xone) are doing.

To be honest I tend to take anything Techland shows/says with a pinch of salt. They're passionate devs who love making games, but Call Of Juarez Gunslinger was the only genuinely great game they've made in years IMO, while Dead Island was oversold by that trailer and everything else has been shonky, recycled or plain terrible.

Not holding out much hope for Dying Light or Hellraid at all. If they end up being pretty decent I'll be pleasantly surprised and delighted rather than disappointed.

Of course it's downgraded. That's what happens when you put games on the Xbox. I remember when you could play all of the characters in FFXV and set up different strategies but ever since it was announced for Xbox they made it so where you can only play as 1 character just like FFXIII.

Bro, there was no way the ps4 could of did all those things Square was trying to do in begining, I agree ps4 is stronger than the ps4, but in my opinion both consoles compared to pc is between low end and mid end graphics, so I already knew some things will change, same with Watch Dogs, and every other game that down grade......all I am saying you cannot blame xbox for this, you can blame it for other things but not this, they both not powerful, they better than last gen.....but its not a big jump like ps2 to ps3, where the ps3 was 32 times stronger than the ps2, there was a rumor a while back xbox one was 6 times stronger than the 360 and ps4 was 7 to 8 times stronger than ps4.....I agree with the rumor, all these games this gen do look improve from last gen, but to say its on pc level is laughable, even if they make the game take a framerate drop to make the graphics look closer to mid range pc, the frame rate will take a hit.....you cannot have both pc level graphics with 60 frames.....it seems this gen as players we will have to have more 30 frames games or 60 frames but it will not be 1080p.....it should be like this tho, not saying we need 4k graphics, but sony should of made it powerful enough to make 1080p and 60 frames a every game thing.....but I can understand why they took the route they did, they lost a lot of billions with the ps3, so they just trying to make money now. The next gen Square will be able to pull it off the things they wanted to do, I do not know if the game is coming for PC, but if it is, I think Square should not punish the PC owners and give them what was originally there since the PC can handle it

New video has absolutely no HBAO which the original did. You wouldn't expect the console versions to have this anyway but as this is PC footage as well then that HAS been removed.

Motion blur is now excessive which you can physically see it has been used to cover screen tear. None of which was in the "apparent" alpha footage.

Particle & wind physics have taken a clear downgrade, global wind physics more so.

Shadows have also taken a little knock as you can see soft shadows aren't as 'soft' any more.

The thing that annoys me the most is not the downgrades themselves in these games it's the absolute lies that the devs then spin about there not being any downgrades at all.

We're not stupid, we know you're not going to be able to match the target renders - yes we know you used target renders as your alpha footage & not real footage. We know that you are going to have to make cutbacks to be able to run the game fluidly on these systems so just be honest & tell the truth.

Stop openly lying to people!
