And with good reason too; he makes it a good chunk of the reason why the gaming industry still exists/ is as big as it is today.

People slam Miyamoto and Nintendo a lot - but they conveniently forget that if it weren't for them, the gaming industry may have very well ceased to exist, and even if it did carry on, it more than likely wouldn't be anywhere near the size it is right now.

I can think of some others. None have his rep sheet of games and time in the industry, but they earn my rep for simply keeping everything 100 and upfront about the industry, their games, the consoles, both good and bad.

I have lost respect when he called the millions of casual gamers and soccer moms who made them successful with the Wii and DS as "pathetic".

Just because casual gamers did not become hardcore gamers does not give him the right to call their attitude as pathetic.

People has the right to choose their form of entertainment.

Maybe he should have asked why people quickly bought and quickly deserted the Wii instead of calling them pathetic.

Nintendo has underestimated the intelligence of the masses like what Microsoft did with the Xbox One no wonder the same thing happens to the Wii U.

The casuals have seen through Nintendo's schemes.

I wish that the idiots out there who think Nintendo would find anywhere close to the same level of success in mobile squares or on other consoles that they do on their own consoles, with their games, would just read this and give up hope of ever seeing Nintendo drop out of making consoles of their own volition.

I'm already well and truly sick of the repeated requests for Nintendo games on anything other than Nintendo's consoles, considering Nintendo's games on other consoles would be treated EXACTLY like how watered-down third party ports are being treated on the Wii U.

Gamers on those other devices already have games/franchises they place far higher in importance than the next Mario game.[which they would likely insult and downplay as "casual rehashed crap" regardless]
Mario would sell like crap on any console other than Nintendo.
Hence, it's good to hear Nintendo put its plumber-sized boots down, AGAIN, in a firm declaration of their dedication to continuing their own console line.

I think going mobile or on other consoles (specifically mobile) would be beneficial for software sales, but I would hate for that to happen to Nintendo.

I do think their next console should simply be their handheld that can easily sync to your TV. Their consoles simply haven't been financially successful for them (excluding Wii), however, their handhelds have been breakaway hits.

The power for console gaming on a mobile / handheld device is already here with Tegra K1, in another 2 - 3 years mobile will out power the Wii U, thus giving Nintendo the chance to have a high-end handheld at an affordable price ($199). NVIDIA's new Shield is a testament to that.

You know, people complain about how Nintendo has Mario this and Mario that, well My issue with them is, the games are all DIFFERENT, yeah they have Mario, Zelda, Metroid, what have you. THE ARE ALL DIFFERENT. How many freaking COD do I have to play????? They really are the same OVER AND OVER, and yes I do like them but, REALLY? Microsoft XBOX has been around since like What 2001 and HOW MANY HALO GAMES are out there???????? Its Laughable. My gosh if you like games Play Wii U and wonder what they will do with all that added power in a few years. The funny thing is they will do and have done AMAZING things with a console that does not even come close to my PS4...and The games are more...wait for it...FUN!

Super Mario 3, Mario 64, Mario Sunshine, Super Mario Galaxy, Super Mario 3D World, then of coarse we go back to "NEW" Super Mario, well yeah that is the same, but all in all Nintendo has always REINVENTED their mascots. Yet soooo many say its the same over and over.

All I can say is I can not wait for 4 more years to see what they will do with Zelda, Metroid, Mario, Pikmin, X, Bayonetta, Fatal Frame, Eternal Darkness(they renewed it)Pokemon, Smash Bros, there are so many more, but all I can think is what I am in for in the next 3 years....:)

I really hope that the lack of Ubisoft and Activision now result in Nintendo blowing the dust-off of titles like Metroid- Eternal Darkness- and Geist.
At the very least, they could fund Precursor's "Shadow of the Eternal."

Game wise yes, but it should be considering this is wrapping up Year 2 for them, while the other are just wrapping up Year 1. Excluding PC of course.

Spec wise, any true gamer knows the Wii U's strength isn't its hardware, even though it's not a weak system like most think. And I would disagree with the two years lead. One of my favorite consoles, the Dreamcast, had arguably its best games pretty much at launch. Sonic Adventure, Soul Calibur and NFL 2K were really solid launch games. Other than RE:Code Veronica and PSO, which I loved to death and a few others, I would say the launch games were its best. Not too many memorable games down the line for the DC.

I don't see Nintendo doing cloud gaming at all, it just doesn't seem like their kind of thing. I don't see Sony doing it as their sole form of gaming for at least another generation (PS6 at the earliest).

WW internet just isn't there and it won't be there within 6 years aka PS5 launch. But in 12 - 15 years it'll be reaching the starting point so PS6 might get a big push for it, and that might be the last PS console that you need, once cloud takes over.

I don't want a last console! Lol. I already figure if there isn't a BC PS5 and things move to digital after this gen, I'm stopping or going to PC. I want consoles. I also want them to be BC. I don't care what people say about cost and whatever, that's the PC crowd's biggest argument... Backwards compatibility. I believe all games sold digitally now should work on PS5. I haven't owned a Nintendo system in a long time so I'd have no problem buying one. Hopefully by then I'll have a kid and more a reason too

Not much of a surprise here.

Nintendo has dabbled in a lot of things in the 125 years it's been existence (yes, it's been that long); but gaming has surely been their ace-card. They practically SAVED the industry and made it their own. PlayStation has been the more successful brand sales-wise, true, but where did most of PS' audience start from? Nintendo. Sony themselves even admitted that it's still the same case today. After all, Nintendo is responsible for making the gaming industry as big as it is, and despite being slammed again-and-again; they're the only ones who have been genuinely successful.

So many other companies have closed their doors (ex: THQ), down-sized (ex: SEGA and Atari), or are losing billions (Sony, MS) - yet Nintendo is still making BIG profits off of the same franchises they crafted almost 30 years ago. That's amazing. They've been continually expanding themselves, and that's a good thing. There's a reason why their games usually score quite high when it's time for reviews...Their expertise in the game-creation and even hardware-development (uniqueness, fun factor and durability) ~ is 9/10 times unmatched.

Call me a fanboy if you want; but I just highly respect them as a gamer. They deserve it.
