The Witcher 3 Wild Hunt Is How a Game Should Be Released

CD Project RED have given gamers a gift in 2015. The gift of being able to get lost in an amazing world that contains some of the best story telling and graphics ever seen in a game and on top of that they have continued to refine and add to the game when most gamers would have probably never once complained of the initial release. Other developers need to take note. This is how you release and support a game.

Glitched, poor optimization, and downgraded

Beastradamus3176d ago

The game is amazing. You're just being a hater. Any valid complaints are pretty minor.

annoyedgamer3176d ago

I think you just referenced every single AAA title released by EA and Ubisoft lately.

SmielmaN3175d ago (Edited 3175d ago )

Honestly, I couldn't stand this game. Brought it back to my asst mgr of EB game (friend) for a full refund. I understand I'm in the minority and I'm not trying to push it as a bad game at all. Just didn't work for me at all. Seemed boring and the combat was not doing it for me. I must say those free releases on PSN is a great job by the dev for the fan base though.

It's great for a developer like this to see such great critical and commercial success.

bradfh3175d ago (Edited 3175d ago )

@annoyedgamer
You forgot about Activision

GreetingsfromCanada3175d ago

Your points are all valid, buts it's still a great game.

AtariFanboy3175d ago

Not sure why you got downvoted. The Witcher 3 is a great game but all those are true when it launched.

GreetingsfromCanada3175d ago (Edited 3175d ago )

Most gamers are delusional hypocrites. They are literally unable to notice their own hypocrisy, it's like a disability really. Unless it's EA or Ubisoft, then a trailer is enough to piss off people.

JamesBroski3175d ago

The game had a few issues at launch, but nothing gamebreaking or enough to hurt the experience.

Str8Chaos743175d ago

Exactly, and it has a TON of content.

Sly-Lupin3175d ago

I believe there was one critical bug at launch. Which is kinda bad, but kinda not.

AstroCyborg3175d ago

like the bug where you couldn't progress that it had

StrayaKNT3175d ago (Edited 3175d ago )

Issues happen in most games, this is easily the best game of this generation.

DoctorFry3175d ago (Edited 3175d ago )

Any glitches in the game are passable considering how large it is and how much content it has to offer.

It can get pretty choppy on consoles, but it's beautifully optimized on PC performance-wise. It was obviously downgraded, but the initial graphics presented in 2013's E3 would've only catered to a handful of PC gamers able to stress those visuals. CDPR already stated that they, like any smart business model would follow, catered to the console versions because their revenue flow would be much greater in the long run. You can't risk making a AAA game exclusive to PC these days if you're a company as small as CDPR, especially when there's no crowdfunding involved.

You're pointing out flaws that are easily undermined by areas of the game that shine (the majority of the game). Unfortunately, you didn't enjoy it as much as I did, but that's not stopping me from seeing it as a masterpiece.

glithed, poor optimization and downgraded..ON PS4
/fixed

WellyUK3175d ago

You sure your not talking about AC: Unity? because Witcher 3 was a brilliant release and every big content full game has issues at release.

sullynathan3175d ago

So many dislikes for saying the truth. Hypocritical gamers would be on EA, Activision or Ubisofts ass if they released a game that did the same.

3175d ago
sullynathan3175d ago

it is the truth. The game looked worse at release than what was initially shown at E3.

3175d ago
sullynathan3175d ago

I just watched different videos of the E3 presentation and it never said that .It's all CDPR's fault.

lol glitched? yes it had a few bugs, but its a huge game and they were fixed. Very rarely were any of any impact on the game,
Poor optimization? how do you figure? that in one spot on a map or in a cutscene the frame rate dropped? It was overblown and better than almost every comparable game.
Downgraded? What? These comments are just stupid. The game looks great.

why is there always a few that think it makes them look smarter or more knowledgeable to hate something because it gets popular. Its stupid.

This is my GOTY 2015 (right now) and one of my favorite games of the current gen

One of the 2015 GOTY contender. It had some issues but was still a great game. A world that big you can't expect to find the smallest things some players find.

This was a great game that has been will supported by developers after release (and still is). Can't wait for those expansions !

The 7 Best Western RPGs: Immersive Adventures

RPGs are often huge, sprawling endeavours. With limited playtime, we have to choose wisely, so here's the best western RPGs available today.

SimpleSlave21d ago

"I started playing games yesterday" the List... Meh!

How about a few RPGs that deserve some love instead?
1 - Alpha Protocol - Now on GOG
2 - else Heart.Break()
3 - Shadowrun Trilogy
4 - Wasteland 2
5 - UnderRail
6 - Tyranny
7 - Torment: Tides of Numenera

And for a bonus game that flew under the radar:
8 - Banishers: Ghosts of New Eden

DustMan21d ago

Loved Alpha Protocol in all it's glorious jank. Great game.

SimpleSlave21d ago (Edited 21d ago )

Not only glorious jank, but the idea that the story can completely change depending on what you do, or say, or side with, makes it one of the most forward thinking games ever. The amount of story permutation is the equivalent of a Hitman level but in Story Form. And it wasn't just that the story changed, no, it was that you met completely new characters, or missed them, depending on your choices. Made Mass Effect feel static in comparison.

Alpha Protocol was absolutely glorious, indeed. And it was, and still is, more Next Gen than most anything out there these days. In this regard at least.

Pity.

Infinite but not the first two games? Witcher 3 but not the first two games?? GTA V but not literally any of the games before it??? Portal 2 but not the first? Also if you're going to play Shadow of The Colossus play the remaster and not the remake. Can't say I disagree with the list but my man it's all over the place.

Name Last Name45d ago

I mean some sequels are objectively better and you don’t need to play the whole series.

Inverno45d ago

But most of these games have a story to follow, sure you can catch up with a YouTube vid but where's the fun in that?

LucasRuinedChildhood45d ago (Edited 45d ago )

A list like this isn't telling you not to play the previous games if you want to. It's just giving you legendary games to play.

But tbh, you don't always have to force yourself to play every entry in a franchise to get to the better ones.

- The vast majority of Witcher 3 players never played the first 2 and had a great time. The first 2 games aren't in the same league.
- The GTA games are self-contained with the odd fun reference. You can easily jump into any of them.
- The Shadow Of The Colossus remake looks and controls better than the original (plus it has a 60fps option while the remaster is just 30fps). New players will enjoy it more.
- Portal 2 is a lot better than Portal 1 and takes the concept much further gameplay-wise. Storywise, Portal 1 is fairly light too. Not that you shouldn't play it but realistically ... you'd love Portal 2 whether you play it or not (at lot of Portal 2 players have never played 1).

Bioshock 1 is the only one I agree with you on simply because it's one the best games of all time and arguably better than Infinite. No other setting like Rapture.

Looking at the list, I'd recommend playing Uncharted 1 before 2 but no doubt, 2 is the legendary one you have to play.

Inverno44d ago

I get it, but that's just my opinion on his opinion. I just think that before you play a sequel you should still play what came before it. Maybe it's just me but i find it fascinating playing through the first game in a series and seeing how it has evolved through its sequels. Like I said I don't disagree with the list, other than SoTC which I strongly believe the remaster of the original should be played above the remake.

AuraAbjure44d ago

Awesome list! Hot take on Fear (and it's hard af expansion Persaus Mandate!) Bioshock Infinite is stellar, so is the Witcher 3 and you nailed it by having Ocarina of Time. So many fantastic games! Gotta play 'em all! Next one on my list is Prey after I beat Dead Space 2 and Splinter Cell Conviction.
