Nice to hear, although I haven't really noticed many framerate issues.

dantesparda3207d ago (Edited 3207d ago )

Oh they're there alright. But this is good to hear, I hope it really works.

Dee_913207d ago (Edited 3207d ago )

I finished the story at level 35 with over 6 days playing time, I only experienced noticeable frame drops about twice toward the end with the big fighting scenes.. then again I don't have a trained eye.

tuglu_pati3207d ago

Please, so that I can buy the damn game already :)

BallsEye3207d ago

game is dropping to 18 FPS on ps4. ALl performance tests show the same. It's nice they are fixing it, but kind of late. Most of people finished the game by now.

BlackWolf123207d ago

Most people?

Most people have a job, and lives, and are responsible adults, who don't have all the free time in the world to finish this game 100% by now.

Avin19733207d ago

I have a job, two Kids, play only after 10 pm and finished the game Last sunday.

All quests and contracts

gfk3423207d ago (Edited 3207d ago )

I didn't buy it, so I am happy to hear about the patch.

Separately, your statement that the game drops to 18 is false.

According to Digital Foundry, the game is capped at 20 fps when ever the game goes lower than 30 fps. However, such situations are very rarely found in the game (the swamp section is one of them).

This strange behaviour (dropping to 20 fps whenever the game cannot stay at 30fps) is due to the double buffering implemented in the PS4 version.

A very surprising decision having in mind the large bandwidth the PS4 hardware has.

People are saying (on various forums) that the double buffering on PS4 was implemented due to the "marketing deal" between Microsoft and the developer.

Also, the people are saying that the release of this patch means that the "marketing deal" is over and thus the developer is no longer hindered by various "parity clauses".

NobleRed3207d ago

Don't know about your disagrees. I agree It's too late already. Most finished the game.

Clown_Syndr0me3207d ago

I done 3 days 20 hours and not been to Skellige yet lol.

showtimefolks3206d ago

I have yet to buy it so when I do pick it up in September, it will be fixed and others issue will be too.

Cd project red are doing an awesome job of fixing every known issue. This is how to support the game after launch

Hopefully Bethesda will do the same for fallout 4

kevnb3206d ago (Edited 3206d ago )

it gets locked down to 20 in cutscenes, it doesnt seem to happen any other time.
"It's an advantage also seen in The Witcher 3's in-engine cut-scenes. As before, PS4 automatically locks to the 20fps line at any sign of dropping below 30fps."
If you watch the videos you can also see gameplay is never locked to 20 fps.

brich2333207d ago (Edited 3207d ago )

I think its for certain sections in the game, like the swamp area, thats the section that got hit hard with fps drops. Seen it on digital foundry, fps drops to a solid 20 fps because of vsync.

Peace_Love_and_FPS3206d ago

I wish we had different graphical options so we wouldn't have to have developers play tech support for us.

As much as the game is amazing the frame rate was bugging the living s*** out of me when I was stuck in the middle of nowhere with the in-laws, and I was on a 720 TV so why couldn't I change my resolution, get way better frames and even take off v-sync should I feel inclined? Even it were just presets, any largely variable graphical options would be very appreciated

Only happens to me when I use a torch.

KiwiViper853207d ago

I have never used a torch. Fun fact.

1nsomniac3206d ago (Edited 3206d ago )

If anything the frame rate got worse with patch 1.05 on PS4. I didn't really have any real noticeable frame rate issues on release of the game or previous patches but since 1.05 they're very noticeable & very frequent. Whether I'm in a town a swamp or anywhere it doesn't matter it's consistent & regular.

Glad to hear it's fixed in the new update. I won't hold my breath though until I've seen it for myself.

FunkMacNasty3206d ago

I hope this patch fixes the issues with Geralt's horse. Every time I try to call Roach, he spawns in the middle of some trees or behind a brick wall or fence where I can't reach him. Literally almost every time!

KiwiViper853206d ago

Run out into the open first, then call roach

Release the damn pc patch already and stop letting consoles hold up progress.

Gwiz3207d ago

That's something that keeps coming back, money talks.
The consoles are priority now and PC is being diminished to Practically Console.I'm not even going to demand anything lol all of a sudden
it's what's best for all platforms, although i have no idea how this benefits PC gamers in any way.

Seafort3207d ago

What patch are consoles on now? 1.06? The PC version is 1.06 :)

Isn't the consoles still on 1.05 and was 2 versions behind for most of the post launch support.

I guess if it's all about money then the PC version was their priority due to it getting all the updates first :)

1.07 is the first time where all platforms get the patch simultaneously.

Palitera3207d ago

Seafort, the patches are released first on PC because there is additional quality assurance controls on consoles. Companies know where the real money is.

Gwiz3207d ago

" The consoles are priority NOW "
I did specifically say now not earlier, releasing a patch simultaneously on consoles is only because it can't be done in an other way,on PC they can.

deim0s3206d ago

@Seafort - Console patch numbers are 0.01 behind PC patch numbers.

eg. Patch 1.05 for PS4 is the same patch as 1.06 for PC, obviously with platform-specific fixes.

MysticStrummer3207d ago

He can't. If he stops and thinks he might have time to realize what is actually holding PC gaming back, and it's not consoles.

Dynasty20213207d ago (Edited 3207d ago )

@MysticStrummer

Console patches need to be cleared/authorized/certified.

As always in history, PC versions can be patched whenever the devs want.

So give us your infinite wisdom as to why the PC patch would at all be delayed, and released in time with the consoles for, I dunno, the first time in history?

Give me a reason other than consoles ruining PC again. Go ahead.

It can't be to get on the console crowd's side, because they've released all the other patches on PC first and peasants have had to wait (why are consoles better again?)

wraith49123206d ago

Eat a dik buttjouster

Palitera3207d ago (Edited 3207d ago )

As they have said: The game only exists in this magnitude because of consoles, so...

Maxor3206d ago

"Only exists in this magnitude because of consoles" That explained the 18 FPS. Thank god for the console or this kind of awesome performance wouldn't be possible.

There was a time when gaming on the console actually mean something. You can expect a certain level of quality from your games. Now it means jack shit. More and more games are being released broken and poorly optimized.

RiPPn3207d ago

I've shelved this game until this patch is released.. c'mon let's get this bad boy out already, need to get back in there..

silvacrest3207d ago

yeah, i've done the same, this patch is too crucial to continue playing without it

teedogg803207d ago

Me too. Can't wait to get back to it.

Cra2yey33207d ago

Doing the same and everyday i want to play it.

ORyanDeee3207d ago

same, waiting for the patch before i continue.

Clown_Syndr0me3207d ago

Why are you all doing this? The patch is just little tweaks etc isn't it? I've not experienced any bugs or any noticeable problems. Only issue I have is no storage space and text is a little small..

silvacrest3206d ago (Edited 3206d ago )

im waiting because storage/weight management waste to much time and kinda spoils my playthrough, im literally using half my time trying not to be become overemcumbered, not fun at all, geralt handles like a tank so i want that alternative movement, inventory sorting will finally happen too and lets not forget the absolutely massive list of bug fixes

Silly Mammo3206d ago

Ever since I bought the upgraded saddlebag that brings my storage up to 170(maybe 190, I forget) I haven't had any issues with item management.

fenome3206d ago

If you make a Fiend Decoction (Alchemy) it'll increase your max carry weight by 20 pounds for 30 minutes. I've found it really useful, especially when I was clearing question marks in Skellige. Every time I was over encumbered I knew it was time to swig the Decoction and head to Novigrad to sell some stuff.

I've actually received some fps drops in areas I didn't encounter them before with a couple of these patches... fixes for some, added some in other places. Let's hope this is THE patch of patches that finally kills these minor fps issues.

The 7 Best Western RPGs: Immersive Adventures

RPGs are often huge, sprawling endeavours. With limited playtime, we have to choose wisely, so here's the best western RPGs available today.

SimpleSlave20d ago

"I started playing games yesterday" the List... Meh!

How about a few RPGs that deserve some love instead?
1 - Alpha Protocol - Now on GOG
2 - else Heart.Break()
3 - Shadowrun Trilogy
4 - Wasteland 2
5 - UnderRail
6 - Tyranny
7 - Torment: Tides of Numenera

And for a bonus game that flew under the radar:
8 - Banishers: Ghosts of New Eden

DustMan20d ago

Loved Alpha Protocol in all it's glorious jank. Great game.

SimpleSlave20d ago (Edited 20d ago )

Not only glorious jank, but the idea that the story can completely change depending on what you do, or say, or side with, makes it one of the most forward thinking games ever. The amount of story permutation is the equivalent of a Hitman level but in Story Form. And it wasn't just that the story changed, no, it was that you met completely new characters, or missed them, depending on your choices. Made Mass Effect feel static in comparison.

Alpha Protocol was absolutely glorious, indeed. And it was, and still is, more Next Gen than most anything out there these days. In this regard at least.

Pity.

I can't fk with this list. They missed on alot of games probably before the writers times. Also I know people loved some portal but I was never a fan.

Tomb Raider 1
Driver 1
Abe’s Odyssey
FF6
King of Fighters 94
Mortal Kombat OG

Street Fighter 2
Resident Evil 1

Inverno44d ago

Infinite but not the first two games? Witcher 3 but not the first two games?? GTA V but not literally any of the games before it??? Portal 2 but not the first? Also if you're going to play Shadow of The Colossus play the remaster and not the remake. Can't say I disagree with the list but my man it's all over the place.

Name Last Name44d ago

I mean some sequels are objectively better and you don’t need to play the whole series.

Inverno44d ago

But most of these games have a story to follow, sure you can catch up with a YouTube vid but where's the fun in that?

LucasRuinedChildhood44d ago (Edited 44d ago )

A list like this isn't telling you not to play the previous games if you want to. It's just giving you legendary games to play.

But tbh, you don't always have to force yourself to play every entry in a franchise to get to the better ones.

- The vast majority of Witcher 3 players never played the first 2 and had a great time. The first 2 games aren't in the same league.
- The GTA games are self-contained with the odd fun reference. You can easily jump into any of them.
- The Shadow Of The Colossus remake looks and controls better than the original (plus it has a 60fps option while the remaster is just 30fps). New players will enjoy it more.
- Portal 2 is a lot better than Portal 1 and takes the concept much further gameplay-wise. Storywise, Portal 1 is fairly light too. Not that you shouldn't play it but realistically ... you'd love Portal 2 whether you play it or not (at lot of Portal 2 players have never played 1).

Bioshock 1 is the only one I agree with you on simply because it's one the best games of all time and arguably better than Infinite. No other setting like Rapture.

Looking at the list, I'd recommend playing Uncharted 1 before 2 but no doubt, 2 is the legendary one you have to play.

Inverno44d ago

I get it, but that's just my opinion on his opinion. I just think that before you play a sequel you should still play what came before it. Maybe it's just me but i find it fascinating playing through the first game in a series and seeing how it has evolved through its sequels. Like I said I don't disagree with the list, other than SoTC which I strongly believe the remaster of the original should be played above the remake.

AuraAbjure43d ago

Awesome list! Hot take on Fear (and it's hard af expansion Persaus Mandate!) Bioshock Infinite is stellar, so is the Witcher 3 and you nailed it by having Ocarina of Time. So many fantastic games! Gotta play 'em all! Next one on my list is Prey after I beat Dead Space 2 and Splinter Cell Conviction.
