Good review. I really enjoyed bloodborne.

LordMaim3234d ago

I also really enjoyed Bloodborne, AussieGamer1... wait, what?

PistolsAtDawn3234d ago

Shows how political this site is...even when he says something people here agree with...they disagree cause it's him (he has 7 agrees and 5 Disagrees right now...you said the exact same thing and have 11 and 2 right now). :)

LordMaim3234d ago

I think they may have been agreeing with my surprise rather than the statement itself.

...but seriously, what's going on?

AngryTypingGuy3233d ago

Bloodborne is awesome, intense, challenging, and very enjoyable... once you get over the learning curve. If you are going to play it, you may question your decision in the first area of the game before you get your first insight and are able to start leveling up. Think of it as an initiation period and don't give up! May the good blood guide your way, good hunter.

P.S.-A few of the boss battles may damn near give you a heart attack, but it's worth it in the end!

Rookie_Monster3234d ago

@lordMaim,

Instead of focusing on the fact that Aussie is more pro xbox and any praise he gives a PS game is like a big shock to you all...it would be wise to check out his previous comments regarding some PS games. Some of the things he is saying is well said and to the point with no fake BS of how he really feel for a game like Bloodborne like many people here tend to do.

Examples:

AussieGamer1  + 0;  91d ago
"Although I like Bloodborne, it's my first souls game and probably my last as I just don't have the patience to keep farming for items. That's also why I traded in destiny. I am enjoying playing co-op with my friend though but wow I get frustrated."

AussieGamer1  + 0;  99d ago
"Been playing Bloodborne all day. Although I find it good, it's definitely not the best game of the generation, not saying anything bad about it but there's a few other games that I had so much more fun it. For a souls fan though, it probably would be the best for them but this is my first game from these developers."

Nothing has change with Aussie, it us just you guys not looking at other aspect of his gaming personality besides down voting him on every over-the-top positive comments he ever made for XB1.

MasterCornholio3234d ago (Edited 3234d ago )

Actually he loses bubbles when he makes comments like this.

http://n4g.com/news/1746725...

"Id take Titanfall over anything sony has released in two years and has set to release next year. Sony had nothing but bloodborne in 2015, those who disagree unfortunately are living in denial, very strong denial. One good game in two years is so unacceptable but when you have low standards I guess it's something good?"

When you make comments like this it's pretty obvious that your disrespecting others and that's against the TOS of this website.

I had my fair share of bubble downs for trolling as well so I know what its like to disrespect others. I don't do that kind of stuff anymore because there's really no point in acting immature here. Its much more enjoyable to have a civil conversation than to troll.

Ripsta7th3234d ago (Edited 3234d ago )

You guys only keep track of what xbox fans say but all BS that the sony fans on this site say, is all forgotten

MasterCornholio3234d ago (Edited 3234d ago )

@Ripsta

Remember MariaHelFutura?
Remember WiiUSauce?

:I

Even though I prefer PlayStation I don't ignore Sony and Nintendo trolls. Whenever I see them I always bubble them down. I don't care if they like the same system that I like. I will not tolerate trolling from anyone.

Bloodborne is the best game of this generation for me so far. I'm level 150 on my main character and going through New Game + right now. I also have The Witcher 3 but just haven't been able to get into it that much because I'm still kind of addicted to Bloodborne although I've already beaten it.

jznrpg3234d ago

I really like the Witcher , but damn they have too many plants all over the fin place . They went a litgle crazy with the potions but it is a good game. Bloodborne is my favorite so far this gen but is not as accessible for impatient gamers .

Volkama3234d ago

Urch untimely reminder that this is still on my backlog. I haven't got past the bonfire, or generally figured out what the hell the game is about yet. Though if that spoiler is accurate, I might be better off trying not to think about it.

Is the frame pacing/delivery issue fixed now?

Gazondaily3234d ago

Ha the bonfire is right at the start!

"generally figured out what the hell the game is about yet."

You might be wondering about that after the game is completed. The story and ending makes very little sense. You have to fill the gaps with the power of of your imagination.

Frame rate is still a bit on the cack side at times. Nothing game breaking mind you aside from one boss battle.

Xavior_Reigns3234d ago

https://www.youtube.com/wat...

This clears up the game for those still lost, however it is full of spoilers so watch at your own discretion.

Volkama3234d ago (Edited 3234d ago )

The start? Ah man, I thought I was about half way through. I guess it's longer than The Order then?

Kidding! I know I am pretty much at the start. I spent a bit of time carefully luring and killing the guys around the bonfire, and then a couple of the buggars with rifles shot me. I haven't really been back since, despite sincerely intending to. I had pencilled it in for "when the framerate is fixed I'll figure out how not to get shot", but it kinda faded out of mind. Until your review reminded me I should get back to it.

OpenGL3234d ago (Edited 3234d ago )

Bloodborne doesn't really have a clear linear story but what it does have is little bits of lore hidden throughout the game that make the world very interesting.

I also love the side quests, like helping people find shelter in the church only for them to later be killed by a survivors that is secretly a beast.

I had a lot of trouble with the game at first but after I got the hang of the mechanics I beat the game multiple times.

Performance is still not perfect but like the load times, it has improved since launch.

cfc833234d ago

Haven't tried this game, but you're entitled to your opinion. I couldn't get into fallout vegas etc, but people love fallout games. Main character doesn't even talk. I think halo is also over rated, aswell as loads of other popular games. Loved witcher though. People had a voice, and the graphics were bright instead of black, brown and grey. And wow, people actually spoke. So many highly rated games suck.

Spotie3233d ago

@cfc83: I'm struggling to even understand the purpose of your comment here.

TWB3234d ago

The begining is the most frustrating part, if you can get past it, you can pretty much endure everything the game is going to throw at you.

I may also get a little hate for saying this but the game doesnt really have a conventional story, its pretty much all lore (which IMO it SHOULDN'T be). Im saying this after playing all 3 souls games (finished 2 of them) after bloodborne. The story and lore parts were pretty neat in DeS and DaS1. Those who enjoy the lore part probably get more out of BB.

The story is basicly that you just hunt beasts and happen to stumble accross these main events of the hunt (because thats all they story wise tell you).

The lore part on the other hand tells you all the details and the backstories.

The frame pacing may have been slightly improved but I still notice it in Old Yaharnam quite often (optional place) and few other "transistioning" areas but it has never been terrible even before the patches.

deadpoolio3163234d ago

The game has some weird difficulty curve for sure...The beginning is harder than anything after that first section, the game is amazing but its kinda strange that they did that I dont remember Demon's Soul or Dark Souls being that way

TWB3234d ago

@deadpoolio316
I think DaS had one too and it was lenghty and uninteresting but then again, I dont really like medieval fantasy style so that may have made it harder for me to get motivated.

I remember that specific part starting all the way from undead burg to depths until you fought the first real boss with a proper arena, the Gaping Dragon. I had a sour taste in my mouth all the way up to that point. Its also mostly because they dont really throw any interesting scenery at you in the begining except New Londo which was the sole reason why I kept going (and it was totaly worth it in the end)

DeS didnt really have one. The only good candidate would be the ascend on top of the Boletaria Castle wall until you open your first/second (proper) shortcut from there.

Phalanx was also arguably better boss to throw at beginers than the Taurus demon in DaS even though its pretty... weird encounter.

MasterCornholio3234d ago (Edited 3234d ago )

I highly recommend the game.

:)

CBforeva3234d ago

Seriously I never played with Dark Souls 1&2, just a little bit with Demons Souls that frustrated me to hell. I was skeptical picking up Bloodborne based on that experience. I'm so happy that I gave it a try... Easily one of my favorite game of all time.

PS: I love H.P. Lovecraft, and his influence on this game is hardly deniable. ;)

MasterCornholio3234d ago

Bloodborne in my opinion is a lot less frustrating than the DarkSouls games. I would recommend new players to start off with Bloodborne before getting the other games.

uth113234d ago

I resisted because everyone made it sound wayyy too difficult. Finally picked it up on sale.

What surprised me is I don't find it all that difficult. Challenging? Yes. But I managed to beat all of the bosses so far, even the ones that seemed impossible at first.

Omnisonne3234d ago

Less frustrating.. Oh man I don't know about that lol
BB was tough as nails sometimes, and now that I recently picked up the first Dark Souls (DS2 was my first FromSoft game) it seems quite a bit easier.

Then again i'm not even 25% through, so it might get harder later on

BiggerBoss3234d ago

Just wait till you get to the Tomb of Giants;)

TWB3234d ago

For maximum frustration (and Im trying to say this as vaguely as possibly to avoid spoilers so dont worry):

When you face the fatty and the lightning rod, go after the fatty first.

I did it the other way around and won on my first try, friend suggested to do in the that order on NG+ ^

Also, dont go balls deep into any new clearly intimedating and hard areas without gaining a one specific ability that you gain around the mid game. I got stuck for several hours in a couple of places, one of which @BiggerBoss already mentioned...

MasterCornholio3234d ago (Edited 3234d ago )

@TWB

Well you can always kill the fatty by shoving the lightning rod up his bum. That way you take care of two bosses at once.

:)

Ain't I a stinker?

hiawa233234d ago (Edited 3234d ago )

Initially, I did not care for the game. Will revisit it at a later time, but certainly is a quality game...

The 7 Best Souls-Like Games - Mastering the Challenge

The Souls-like genre remains popular, along with FromSoftware's classics there are many contenders. But which are the best Souls-like games?

toxic-inferno38d ago

Hmm... In my opinion, the 7 best are the 6 made by FromSoftware (DeS, DS1, DS2, DS3, BB and ER), then Lies of P. But each to their own.

kevco3338d ago

Still DS1? You don't feel it's been surpassed yet?

Demon's Souls has the remake of course, but DS1 has surely been outdated?

Smellsforfree38d ago

I think that the DS1 remake is better looking than DS2. The interior lighting matched with the low resolution textures in DS2 is very garish, IMO.

Besides graphics, what do you mean by DS1 being "outdated"? I'm someone who played through Elden Ring and just recently played through the DS series, and as far as gameplay went, there were all very similar.

Cacabunga38d ago

I haven’t played many but Bloodborne and NIOH1 are on top of my list.. had a blast with these 2

toxic-inferno37d ago

For world design and interconnectedness (that's a word, right?) DS1 is yet to be beaten.

anast6d ago

All great games beside DS2.

toxic-inferno6d ago

I would agree, but there are some things in DS2 that are great and incredibly memorable. It tries to do things differently, and there are some amazingly cinematic moments.

Of course, there's also poor level design (particularly the interconnectivity of the world), questionable combat choices and some of the worst boss runs since the early days of video games...

anast5d ago

True. I can't disagree the game has some moments.

9 Years Later, Does Bloodborne Deserve All The Praise It Gets?

Saad from eXputer: "Almost a decade later, it's time to take the nostalgia goggles off and accept that Bloodborne has long been surpassed by its successors."

jznrpg40d ago (Edited 40d ago )

Yes, yes it does. It’s still a great game. Elden Ring isn’t better just different and a bit easier . I like that you have to be aggressive but smart in Bloodborne

thorstein39d ago

I literally replayed it recently and it's better than I remember. I think it's like going back to a beloved book and noticing things I hadn't before.

raWfodog39d ago (Edited 39d ago )

Yo! I was getting ready to reply with the exact same four words you started with lol. Yes, I think Bloodborne has withstood the test of time and remains a great game. That’s why all the fans are hoping for a sequel someday. Hoping that we can catch that magic again with a new storyline.

Leeroyw39d ago

Yes. Just replayed it a few days ago. My first Platinum. And yes. I rage quitted so many times and called it BS too when I started. It's tight. The combat is amazing and the lore is rich.

GamingSinceForever39d ago

Elden Ring was easier? I don’t know about that at all. I remember leveling up in Bloodborne and breezing through it. In Elden Ring no matter how powerful I got I was still catching a beat down from every boss.

thorstein39d ago

That's due to scaling enemies. I remember not doing Haligtree untill near the end and having enemies withstand almost a full blast from Azur's Glintstone Staff Comet Azure. My level was quite high.

Melee characters are not fun in that game, especially for the Elden Beast.

MeteorPanda39d ago

Considering l did a run 2 months ago? Yes.

Bloodborne's Potential Remaster Continues To Be Sony's Biggest Missed Opportunity

"Sony is missing out on a hugely profitable opportunity by ignoring fan demands for a Bloodborne remaster and PC port," says Ahmed from eXputer.

thorstein68d ago (Edited 68d ago )

Bloodborne came out on the PS4. It is owned by From Software. What missed opportunity? I am sure the people at From Software know what they are doing. Especially since they are hiring devs instead of laying them off.

Maybe do an article about that instead of writing a hit piece on them acting like they don't know how to run their business.

68d ago
-Foxtrot67d ago (Edited 67d ago )

To be fair Hidetaka Miyazaki said in an interview

“Unfortunately, and I’ve said this in other interviews, it’s not in my place to talk about Bloodborne specifically. We simply don’t own the IP at FromSoftware.”

So the ball kind of is in Sonys court, it feels like a missed opportunity because it’s something people really want and Sony just hasn’t really been bothered to get it off the ground. There was rumours it was at one point but it all went silent.

Cacabunga66d ago (Edited 66d ago )

Sony has been missing nothing but opportunities for a few years now.. since GOW release, it’s worrying silence we’ve been getting..

As for Bloodborne, imo it would be too soon to release it because PS4 game still looks phenomenal..

Bloodborne REMAKE I think will be PS6 launch title by Bluepoint. I truly hope so! 2 gens later we can get the same wow effect as Demons Souls.

Eonjay66d ago

He is right because it is Sonys IP but a little further back he also explained that they only work on one game at a time. This means that From must also be available. In other words it could already be in the pipeline. Ecen if that is the case, it's still up to Sony to reveal it when they are ready. As ever, I prefer not to hear about it until it's about 3 to 6 months from releasing.

CrashMania67d ago (Edited 67d ago )

'Bloodborne came out on the PS4. It is owned by From Software'

Actually Sony owns the IP, same with Demon's Souls. I think they'd prefer if From did the work on any future of both of those though, but if Sony wanted to they could have those off to anyone else to work on them, like the DS remake.

thorstein67d ago (Edited 67d ago )

Yeah. Thanks for the info.

But I still think that remasters should wait a generation. And Blue Point did Demon's Souls which was superb.

It can be a huge risk. And I think Hidetaka Miyazaki hinted that it would be a PS6 title. I don't he has no say in what happens, it's a partnership.

--Onilink--66d ago

To be honest, if there is a remake/remaster (not that it needs one) I would prefer someone else to handle it, like they did with Demon Souls

From many perspectives From Soft is an amazing developer, BUT, on a technical level they are far from impressive, both in terms of dated visuals (again, on a technical level, not art/design) and usually poor performance.

And what is the point of a remake/remaster if not to provide a visual and performance enhancement to a game that already nailed the rest?

Michiel198966d ago

@thorstein what huge risk? Part of one of the most well known ip's in gaming nowadays, there's not much risk there when it comes to a remake.

thorstein66d ago

@Michiel

I meant remasters in general are a huge risk, not Bloodborne.

Bloodborne isn't, but I think it's going to be on PS6, like how Demon's Souls went from PS3 to PS5.

Sorry for the confusion.

Thorstein,

Wow, your post seems angry..relax it's an opinion.

And btw, it is on Sony, they have the exclusive right to the game, on top of that, they could have easily, at bare minimum, offered an official 60fps patch, with a few extras and charged people $10 to upgrade or $30-40 for new buyers.

I believe I saw an interview where , FromSoft said it was all up to Sony on a sequel and other dealing with the game.

A "hit peice", that serious huh?..relax lol.

thorstein66d ago (Edited 66d ago )

Wow you seem angry. I responded to crash 2 days ago about the remaster and who did it.

Why do you care what other people think in a moment about some journalism. Calm down, buddy, it's just my opinion. From 3 days ago.

Edit: I just went back through my comments and found 2 where I call out the author in the past month. Wow, I'm a rageaholic.

It will be a launch title on PS6 just like the remake of Demon's Souls for PS5 launch

OhReginald66d ago

Sony realizes people will flock to buy ps6s for a bloodborne remake. Easy money.

jznrpg66d ago (Edited 66d ago )

Rumored it’s slated for PS6 launch. Some say PS5 Pro. Who knows ?

P_Bomb66d ago

Highly requested, unfortunately neglected.

jznrpg40d ago

Some say we didn’t need TLOU2 remake but that was a PS4 game and now we need a BB remake but that was a PS4 game. We send mixed signals
