Elden Ring boss discusses Bloodborne remake, benefits of waiting for new hardware

FromSoft boss Hidetaka Miyazaki has discussed the possibility of a Bloodborne remake, and the benefits of waiting for new hardware on which to revisit the beloved PlayStation 4 classic.

Yo, I wish we'd do sequels more. Like, don't get me wrong I'd play this, but it's disheartening to here Remake this and Remaster that, when I'd love to see more of the universe with new surprises and experiences.

Haha, I mean I get that they’re cheaper to produce… I think. But I’m thinking of things like Dead Space Remake and how it would’ve been cool to actually get a next-gen Dead Space 4 and just wow players with new things. Same with this, I mean, yea the game is flippin’ amazing, but I really would rather see newer things that expand the lore and universe than to continuously play through a prettier version of the same game.

I see articles on here saying such and such should get a Remake and Remaster and it makes me so grateful we didn’t have this mentality in the good ol’ days when we could get Dead Space 1-3, Resident Evil 1-3 on PS1, etc. I just miss when sequels were in demand and not saying, “Hey this was such a great game last-gen let’s totally remake it on current-gen!!!”

Yeah, I agree. While I appreaciate DS remake, A fourth game would have been cooler, then they could have thrown a quick collection of ports together to supplement.

If they do a bloodborne remake, I want Miyazaki to take the helm on the project. Bluepoint does great work but they ruined the feel of the original demons souls particularly with their music remakes. Not everything needs a choir.

Yeah, I didn't realise at the time since I never played the original, but seeing the side by side footage made me dislike it more and I'd be mad if they messed with Bloodborne like that

Yes! I think BB def has one of the best soundtracks in the souls series right next to DMS imo. What they did to the fools idol theme was infuriating and I'm annoyed that people think the remake music fits. It doesn't.

No. The remake is still my game if the gen not counting VR. The graphics are a great improvement.

No doubt the graphics are a major improvement, don't think anyone is denying that. However, the tone of the game completely shifted with the music. Every boss is now an epic battle and to give this a pass shows that you simply don't understand the lore and story behind the characters. DMS is not supposed to grandiose such as DS3 and so to give a heroic theme to a character like garl vinland is to have completely misunderstood the tragedy behind him and astraea.

Blupoint makes excellent graphics but it's clear they don't invest time into the lore which is why they totally misfired with the music. I also read some people were upset with certain things in their other remakes so it's not surprising that this happened. All the more reason why Miyazaki needs to be in control.

I’ll definitely take another Bluepoint port here though. Regarding De Souls Remake; the music didn’t bother me, and the graphics and fluidity were better than what other studios would have achieved, including From.

Unfortunately dev costs of 300m plus is what happened to new IP overall.
I'd love some new ones but at the same time I scratch my head at the losses if it doesn't sell well etc.
It must be so daunting day 1 of a new IP project knowing what's at stake.
When Cory cried at early reviews of GoW there was such an outburst of emotion, must be hell having that mush pressure etc.

I didn't say there are no new IPs altogether. This generation has seen so many remakes and remasters in...three years.

How many times did they remaster street fighter and put it in a collection? Literally every system.

I much rather have a sequel myself. An Elden Ring-like game but with the whole Gothic/Castlevania/Lovecraft vibe? And instead of a sprawling Horizontal map, a giant and twisted, open world Vertical map? A Miyazaki take on something like Dante's Inferno meets Made in the Abyss slather in Lovecraftian Nightmares you say?

Just give us a PS5/PC port of the original, with a higher resolution and a higher framerate. Easily my favorite PS4 game, just edging out God of War (2018).

Demon souls was a launch game on the PlayStation five and it’s infinitely better looking than most games that have released since then, and is absolutely good enough graphic wise I don’t understand how blood would look better than that game but OK.

What they should do is have Bluepoint Games do a full Bloodborne remake as a PS6 launch title, much like they did for Demon's Souls remake at PS5's launch. Then FromSoftware can launch Bloodborne 2 a year later.
