"With the news of Splatoon being the most recent in the line of games not receiving online chat, it has either become clear that Nintendo knows nothing about how to set up an online structure that can support constant chat to others. They want to keep the younger generation of gamers safe from the toxicity of the internet, or they just don’t care about what the Wii U community wants to have on their console. I am going to go over some of the reasons why Nintendo should have no problem setting up a system for if not in game chat then at least party chat."
A trailblazer for online gaming, some players are still holding a candle for Dreamcast.
such a shame, its my fav console by far. it was way better than ps1, problem was ps2 was due to come out, a year or so later, and many just waited for that, especially after the flop that was the Saturn,. (even though it way okay, it didn't sell well,).
ps1 did sell well, a lot of those fans waited for ps2. thus, the downfall of Dreamcast,,
I bought a DreamPi to play both Dreamcast and Saturn online! So far I'm only played with two people online with Saturn, and I need to spend more time with the Dreamcast community in order to play with them. I miss ChuChu Rocket online, good times!
P2P there's even Sega genisis games that still connect online based on this.
Hosted servers wasn't really something I saw regularly on non oc platforms until the 360 era.
The Dreamcast was easily my favorite console of all time, home of many good fighting games
Game developers have already started to confirm that they will support the Nintendo Switch 2 with their future titles.
Hanzala from eXputer: "As Nintendo takes out 20 years' worth of stuff from Garry's Mod, I watch in shock, thinking why it continues to hurt and discourage its fans."
The irony that some of the most disgusting business practices come from companies like Disney or Nintendo, i can't even begin to understand what terrible damage was Garrys Mod making to Nintendo bottom line, imho they're getting pretty nervous about where they're heading in the future, handhelds are no longer something exclusive to Nintendo, from Steam Deck to many others, now you can play the latest games and pay a fraction of the price on Steam sales, so it's up to their exclusives, which just on their own would make hard to justify purchasing a closed overpriced hardware with outrageous price policies (Super Mario Odyssey is still 60 euro 6 years later!), and as a home console they're always underperforming compared to Sony or Xbox.
Look at how they handled Nintendo games being streamed or uploaded on YouTube in the past. They killed Yuzu and Citra even when they had nothing to do with ToTK being leaked, not to mention it was basically unplayable on emulation the week it was leaked. Smash Bros tournament, that was fairly recent. They shut down their online services without any care for purchases made. I bought a switch after skipping their last 2 consoles and handhelds but I don't plan on buying anything Nintendo in the future. They take things to the extremes, they legitimately hate their fans. They're honestly right up there with the likes of Acti, EA, and Ubi, only difference is that they disguise themselves as being family friendly all the while being shady.
Because it's 2015
No voice chat in Splatoon is a HUGE misstep. It's a shame, as fresh a take on competitive shooters as it is, to waste the chance to make it great. When we, the Nintendo devoted, clamor for new IP, we mean for them to take as big a chance on bulletpoints as they do on aesthetics.
When they can't do the little things like this, especially when it's 2015 and the game is a multiplayer team based thing then it just shows you how out of touch Nintendo are. It's like when they did Super Mario 3D World and it wasn't online co-op, just local
If the game is fun I don't mind the lack of voice chat. It's better than hearing a 10 year old listening to uptown funk the whole match. Gta 5 is the perfect example of that.
Nintendo has the potential to be the highest selling gaming company and its sad cos its not its hardware holding them back it's their stubbornness and need to be all of its consumers parents that keep landing their home consoles in last place. I'm still going to buy splatoon, but no voice chat in a game based on team cooperation is just plan stupid. People who don't wanna listen to little kids can mute them like every other normal game in the world. At least Devils third ill be a proper shooter.
