Retroreflection: Super Metroid – The Perfect Video Game?

I LOVED this games as a kid, and still do. Id KILL if Nintendo would remake this game. The graphics, Music, exploration and some of the best atmosphere in a game pulled me in. I was IN that game when I was playing it. PLEASE NINTENDO!!

This game used to creep me out back in the day... The main menu music alone is creepy! Glad I experienced this game back then!

This in my opinion is the perfect game. I remember buying this game and finishing it in the same night because it was that damn good. I couldn't bring myself to stop.

I called my friend who also bought it on the same day and he also went completely through the game.

Now if that is not an example of a perfect game then I don't know what is.

I still own this game with my SNES and it deserves all the plaudits and positive reviews even now. The music is just haunting and perfectly crafted into this masterpiece, plus the level and world design is just right also, 2D gaming at its peak.

I'd played this and fusion on the GBA. I thought fusion was a lot better, I beat Zero mission in about 2 and a half hours, it's disappointingly short

Edit - oops. I thought zero mission was a remake of this, but I haven't played this one!

My friend, you owe it to yourself to go and play this game, it'll solidify just how good a game can get on the SNES and forever be a classic.

The GBA games were great aswell, but I never did find they could beat the pure atmosphere and feeling of isolation yet power as somewhat a predator this game offers you. It's amazing.

This game is just forever a timeless classic in my books, it does everything so well while constantly keeping up the pace and challenge factor yet keeping you coming back and enjoying each play through time and time again.

I could never actually get 100% item collection rate on this game, only 86% was my highest. But that right there adds more replay value to the game.

To me, this is the best SNES game and the best 2D adventure game ever made. Pretty much all other games copied some sort of element from Metroid or Super Metroid.

21 years later and this game still gets hailed as perfect... I love this game, I really do. Beaten it numerous times again and again... But it's one of the most overrated games of all time. The game plays great, but the game to me just feels crammped... It's lost It's atmosphere to me. Fusion in my opinion despite being extremely linear is the better designed game. But hey, to each his own am I right ;) (bring on the negative votes)
