It'll be 2010 or 2011. I can imagine it launching with Halo 4 during the holidays.
And yes, it puts Sony in a corner, which is why they'll push it.
Nintendo will need to have Wii 2 out by then as well, because their games still look like the butt end of a dog.
Good point. Just about everything he lists is stuff that's already in the PS3.
Which means if the X1080 (that's what I think they'll call it) is gonna ship in 2010 or 2011, then it'll have to have some stuff that we don't even know about today.
MS will make Live free only if the competition can catch up. And right now the PS3 might be free to play online, but it doesn't have the same feature set as Live. Nintendo has opted for a Pay n Play option as well, for cer...
I'd rather than my paltry $50 per year than be assaulted with ads (which is how Sony is going to fund Home).
I can't see myself taking COD4 out of the tray for this one. The next contender for online supremacy is Battlefield: Bad Company. Until then, COD4 rules the roost.
Instead of all these funky new colors (and yes, they look cool, but for those of us who already purchased a PSP, it's sort of superfluous), let's see the plans for the next PSP. You know, 4" LCD screen, 2 freakin' analog sticks...
Too bad that by the time this comes out, I will have already finished playing GoW.
Now, release it next week and that's a different story...
Until COD 4 comes out with new maps... and (hopefully) new weapons, challenges, etc.
I've been playing Halo since the first one came out on the original Xbox. I thought Halo 2 was a momentous leap forward, especially due to its Xbox Live play.
But Halo 3 wasn't. They could have released all the new maps as a pack with Halo 2. The only innovative thing in Halo 3 is the Forge system, and frankly, I had no desire to mess with videos of the games or editing them or whatever. I just want to play...
So when COD4 came out, with its simple "Diablo-...
There are way too many morons sharing their prejudice with the world online. The "n" word gets thrown around way too frequently. It's sad that people hide behind their gamertags and throw around the hate.
I either mute them or go find another game, but there is a wide population of morons out there.
COD4 rocks. I will admit that the stats suck (there aren't enough of them and you can't go back to look at them). And the matchmaking blows... I hate getting tossed into a game with someone 3 prestige levels above me (or more). While I love slapping the fodder around -- it helps my ratio -- I'd rather be seeing more consistent matchmaking at my prestige level.
Other than that, it's simply the best game I have ever played. Halo 2 used to hold that crown, IMHO, but COD4 simply bl...
I've played Halo 3 once since COD4 came out. I'm practically on the verge of selling Halo 3 on eBay. I just don't ever see myself pulling that disc out when it sits next to COD4 on the shelf. The only thing that keeps me from doing it is the fear that my 360 will eat COD4 one night and I'll have to stick Halo 3 in just for something to play. It's basically still in my collection as an emergency backup.
I just saw Prey the other day at GameStop for $10 used.
I almost picked it up, but decided not to. I think I'm still wary of it, though I can't put my finger on why. Maybe because it's so much older at this point that I just figure I'll keep playing the new stuff.
I definitely overlooked Dead Rising (didn't like the demo), TDU (didn't like the demo)...
I think Crackdown is one of the best games on the 360. It did what Assassin's Creed did (the who...
COD5 is coming out this year, but not from Infinity Ward. I believe they're developing COD6, so I think we can expect COD4 support for another two years.
What I hope we see in the map pack:
- at least 8 maps
- a new level cap (add another 5 levels, at least, to Pretige Mode)
- new weapons in each of the categories
- new challenges
- available by 3/31
Free would be too much to ask for. I hope we can get all that for 800 points.
I wasn't impressed with the single player demo. It played far inferior to COD4. Sounds like I need to give the MP demo a chance... before Tuesday.
Who freakin' cares? Both 360 and PS3 are going to do well in this generation, each has its share of extremely fun exclusive games. So play them!
GDC was a good starting point for MSFT. They need to talk about their 2008 games, and they are beginning to have a lineup worthy of discussion: Too Human, Banjo, Fable 2, NG2, Gears of War... not bad... but again, at least 3 of these are M-rated and therefore going to be hard to push the "parents buying consoles for their kids" phenom.
LBP might very well have that level of appeal for the PS3 this year.
Personally, I think the 360 will have an okay year...
Own your own Cortana. She plays games with you! She makes sure you're connected!!
I think you're right that MSFT has stopped talking about games that are too far out in front of most gamers. I think they want to talk about "now," which is what they did at E3 2007. They only talked about games shipping in 2007.
So now it's 2008, and I believe they will pull back the curtain on the games of 2008... slowly but surely. I suspect there's more up their sleeve than they've let on so far.
As for what this is, I doubt it's GoldenEye (as the r...
... can they be, when the cover lists a review for Advance Wars: Dark Conflict? I believe the most recent Advance Wars is Days of Ruin.
The first one was VERY similar to Crackdown. Get on top of the buildings, find where the guy is you have to take out, then take him out. The problem is, Crackdown was fun. The battle system and the building-to-building system felt integrated... you jumped, you shot your rocket launcher, you did all this in an aerial display that was quite remarkable.
The difference between AC's rooftop freedom and the actual assassination of your mark (the long, drawn out sword battles getting ...
