I think he's just excessively creative and doesn't think about being practical with his ideas. Who knows, at the time he might have believed the hype himself.
I only pay full price for games that are at least 8/10. But I play a bunch of games with lower scores too.

I really like the concept of a peaceful town during the day and a horror town at night.
killzone 2 was a disappointment. The controls and gameplay could have been much better. Just face it graphics is what people think of when they hear "killzone 2". When people hear "Halo" they think gameplay. Gameplay>Graphics.
Microsoft doesn't owe PC gaming anything. They sell and support the operating system. That is their main business. Besides pc fanboys brought this on themselves: "Uhh I'll just get the SUPERIOR PC version" or "It's not exclusive if it's on the PC also." well guess what you get nothing. :P

when are people going to realize ODST was an expansion. You shouldn't judge the halo series based on halo wars and ODST.
Halo 2 was my favorite in the series. It did get a lot of criticism for the ending but the multiplayer more than made up for the cliffhanger.
