Not part of the article, but the latest image with the relay changes things. The number represents the location of the scientists space research station, which is near a mass effiect relay. I still think it is a gamma ray observatory.

He has a lot of good points about graphics. It really is a great marketing tool, and gameplay and story being equal, everyone would prefer better graphics to not.

The trinity of any good game:
1. Gameplay (is it fun?)
2. Graphics
3. Story

I also think that Epic knows console updates are on the way over the next two years... so they are publicly advertising their wares so that other developers will want their engine, and pay to source it out for next gen. $$$ for Epic.

Recent Cryengine 3, and frostbite 2.0 offerings are accomplishing similar goals.

I expect next gen within 2 years.

I think what Microsoft did is distasteful, but EVERYONE in media is making money off this disaster.

News broadcasts are getting more viewers/hits/listeners (more advertising revenue). Bad news is always good business in the media industry. CNN vievership spiked huge after 911.

Everyone appreciates companies like Sony who are giving to the disaster... but this all works to build good public relations with customers (i.e. more sales). I am not saying c...

most games don;t consider standard Def anymore.

If money is tight, just buy a computer monitor that supports high def. I got an awesome 23' inch for my desktop for about 200$ a year ago. I now have a 50 inch plasma though...

I like Bioware games... the problem is the vocal minority of fans who are passionate and resist change. It is impossible to make everyone happy.

From the article: "Being banned from a forum is one thing, but having that ban apply to purchased content, including content that hasn't even been played at all yet, is obtuse beyond words."

^^^ The lesson here for the original poster that got banned is to not go on to offical forums and bitch and mo...

Kinect can't support the kind of precision they wanted for the game. Nothing wring with that. I can't blame 2K for not wanting to dumb down the experience.

The kicker is that Move support is pretty weak.

and it is people like you who make developers create invasive DRM.

I doubt that, but this is an example of an unprofessional "writer" spouting off about something before giving it a proper chance.

Same thing is happening with all the gamers who gave Dragon Age 2 a 1/10 on metacritic because you are stuck with 3rd person perspective without zooming out option. This is an option that was not in DAO on consoles, and the reviews were for the 360/PS3 versions.

this is why we should play games and not reviews.

Still, I think he gave a pretty balanced view of the game. I don't think the low score came out of left field based on what he wrote.

Funny how IGN seems to get a bad wrap whenever they give PS3 exclusives a low score. Even more funny is the people who claim to find the opinion of IGN worthless, yet they continue to read their reviews...

@ rage

I think it lacked the broad appeal of your typical space marine/military shooter. That effected sales, but the biggest killer in my mind was the fact the AW was released the same day as Red Dead. THAT was a phenomenal game also, and most people chose it over AW (I did, you can't go wrong with rockstar). It was a pretty long game, so by the time they finished it, the next big thing had arrived and people forgot about AW.

I just hope we get an A...

sounds like a buthurt fanboy review. At least they took the time to write the review up in a proper manner.

This is an example of a reasonably well written review that is jaded due to the expectations of the reviewer.

A game should be reviewed based on what it is, not based on what a reviewer wanted it to be.

well, it is better than nothing.

SAdly, it was the 3rd most pirated game last year... after MW2 and CODBO.

I picked it up this winter for 20$ new... and must say that it was surprisingly a phenomenal game. My only beef was poor lip syncing.

Mental note: play game before trolling about "how bad it is."

This is my problem with all this crying... Do it after you give the game a fair chance.

4794d ago 6 agree1 disagreeView comment

@radphil. we agree, someone should actually have the game and play it before reviewing it.

I will take the OPINION of people who actually play the game and give it a proper review, over buthurt fanboys who give it a 0 on release day one. Either they didn't buy it, or they didn't review it properly.

lets put it this way:

who do you trust, someone who gets a game a few weeks prior to release... plays it and then writes a long though...

The critics are the correct ones obviously.

The people spamming metacritic are the same Bioware fans that spammed the amazon page for the writer Cooper Lawrence. They gave her book tons of low reviews. She was the one who Fox news had attack the Mass Effect sex scene back on 07. It was pretty funny because they had her commenting on a game she never played... she later admitted she never played it, but heard about it. So it was sweet irony when a bunch of gamers gave her ...

Developers are turning to consoles because they are forced to if they want to make money... because pirating games is far more popular on the PC than consoles.

Every PC gamer that plays pirated games needs to point a finger at themselves.

I am all for game feedback, but keep it civil and constructive.

Bitching gets annoying. Put that energy into something useful like volunteering or politics. I have little sympathy about gripes of rpg mechanics. Look at the big picture.

damn indeed.

Lets be honest kiddies... skip the game and just youtube the softcore anime porn scenes.

That is the only reason people care about the game.

Hmmm... strikes me as an easy thing to track...

"who used the code?"

"here is the list sir"

"ban them! Make their 360 a paperweight!"

"Done sir."
