Wow, Im gonna spend a good solid month playing nothing but Skyrim... at least. I have Dragon age, but I havent played through it, I am still working on RDR. So I have to finish RDR, then do Dragon Age, and ZOMG, I still have to finish Mass Effect 2... And Torch Light is coming out next week...
So I will have plenty of games to play this year, another dozen Microsoft exclusive games would just be that many more games I would not play this year...

No you don't. XNA gives xna developers full control of their shaders with HLSL. That is bare metal access. In HLSL, it looks like c code, but the variables are just psudonyms for different registers, and all that code runs on the GPU and is never touched by c#
Yeah, they farmed out an unlimited number of 2d games to the xna community... any and every 2d gaming experience you could ever want is available in the xna community store...

IRL I am still detecting lots and lots of ambivalence about plain old HDTV, and imo among my age group broadcast tv is dying in favor of people just getting rid of all the broadcast options then hooking an internet device up to their tv then watching (and paying for) only the shows that they want to watch...

Wow, another game that is apparently supposed to impress me with its graphics, and once again, it looks just like the level of detail we have come to expect from this generation of console....
I had a launch console and it rrod'd after about a year but the one that Microsoft replaced it with is still going strong, but sometime on some games, it has a hard time reading the dvd, and the fix is to simply install the game, then it all works fine.
Any electronic device that uses a spinning disk, or a fan for cooling will die eventually, and the replacement xbox I received from microsoft after my xbox rrod'd has never had an issue.
But yes the 360 slim + kinect bundle is the way to go if you want to replace your current xbox.
Try installing games on your harddrive, I have noticed it makes a huge difference with the newer games, moreso that the games that were out when they first introduced installing...
So much so that my prefered method of buying games now is Games on Demand, just so I never have to get up can change the dvd...

If an armored car fell in my backyard right now, I would probably go buy the biggest super high resolution computer monitor I could find, and I would skip all that consumer grade 1080p crappola in favor or a monitor that had 4x - 5x as much resolution, then I would spec out a computer that couple actually run a couple of PC games that I want to play on that crazy ass monitor and I would go with that...

He is making the simple business case that there are already plenty of games, there are more games than people are likely to play for the rest of this console generation... Any more games will just reduce the revenue generated on existing games.
And judging by all the closing game studios, I'd say he is right.
