I play that thing everyday. Only reason people think its lacking is due to the media. I love playing uncharted, ratchet, heavenly sword, warhawk, COD4, oblivion, resistance. Edit: Someone care to explain the disagrees? All I hear about the PS3 is how it has bad games from the 360 fans, and all I hear about the 360 is it melts from the PS3 fans. Though people say bad things about the Wii, people will say good things, as well.

Heck, even this one that I replied to, it wasn't why to get a PS3, it was why not to get a 360. If someone tells you bad things about the PS3, and you tell them bad things about the 360, which console are they going to buy?

Rooftrellen: Because many people, like me, want to play fresh, new, (most importantly) GREAT games that aren't the same old Nintendo games we've seen for years. At least I'm in that boat, and that's why I have a 360 and my next big gaming investment will be a PS3.

Hear me out now, Wii people. I have said previously that if Nintendo had thrown a better graphical capabilities/HD into their system at, say, a 100-150 dollar increase in price, I'd probably want the Wii... a lot.

But, as it is, it's the Gamecube with motion controls (3rd party support wise, too). Sure, the motion sensor is pretty innovative... but at times it is unresponsive and the only good games are the Nintendo products, once again.

Look at it this way. You are a nomral person who knows nothing of gaming, and you're going to do a little research on the consoles so you can buy one. Many people say the 360 melts. Many people say the PS3 has no games.

And people say the Wii doesn't have games that are as fresh as MSG4 or FF13... Oh well, at least you, the average consumer, know of Mario.

1) I didn't "attack" anything you said, merely stated what I felt many of us gamers do.

2) To answer your question about fanboys bashing each other's 360 or PS3, your "normal" person will not be reading those comments let alone visit gaming websites in general. Therefore, they are not influenced by the hate being flung in either direction.

I answered the question from a perspective of a person who loves games. Now, I answered it from a "normal" person's perspective. You simply cannot tell me that the "normal" person is seeing all of these comments and therefore will buy the Wii, don't play me off as a fool.

This is not the case; the reason the Wii sells so well is because it appeals to the casual gamer. For example, I have three older sisters, 22, 23, and 26. They all want Wiis and have not played video games since childhood.

They don't know a thing about PS3 or 360 capabilities.

You can't be serious about thinking that fanboyish 360/PS3 bashing is going to push people thinking about purchasing 360/Ps3 towards the Wii. Maybe it has a small effect, but it can't be significant, because the majority of your "normal" people aren't reading it in the first place.

When it comes down to it, each system has their flaws. 360 has overheating, poor customer service, etc. PS3 (as of now) has arrogant ownership and a small game library. The Wii has poor 3rd party support and shoddy graphics for today's standards.

And when I said new and fresh games, I was referring to games like Assassin's Creed, Mass Effect, Uncharted, Heavenly Sword, Gears of War, etc. List is big, I have a hard time believing there is any serious amount of 3rd party support coming up for the Wii. I may be wrong, but I have not seen it. Don't get me wrong, Smash Bros., Zelda are great, but I am tired of them after having owned a Gamecube with no third party support last generation.

But whatever, you can try and fabricate a ridiculous method of Wii sales (eg. normal people see fanboy arguments online). I just wish this thread wasn't going to get buried so more input could be given. Hell, I don't even know if you will see this.

last year around this time, my mother and i had been out shopping at different stores and we noticed alot of people returning 360s.

i kinda wondered what it was because i knew my 360 had problems but i never thought they were so wide spead or would continue.

this year i noticed the same thing and even my mother asked me why were so many people standing in customer service lines with 360's in hand. this time i knew what is was, shotty hardware.

MS still hasn't fixed these problems and the extended warranty doesn't even cover if the system scratched disc, which is a problem i had with my first one.

Never in a million years would I buy another system over the Ps3. It's the tops man. It's a set top box and does too many fucntions for me to not have to have it. I'm playing through Mass Effect now on the 360 and it is a good game...but the lag on the load screens make the console look clumsy.

I'm glad that some PS1 and PS2 owners stopped drinking sony's koolaide, woke up and smelled the coffee. I've been through most Generations of consols and sony was a bit of a let down for me early this gen. We'll see what 2008 brings.

sony is trying to hard to give you a computer as well as trying to win a format war at the expense of a pricier machine. (We knew this)

MS for the most part is a game machine and that's it. Yes, sit plays DVD's but being able to give devs the best tools and support while keeping the price below the competition is helping them gain share.

You can post all that the PS3 does and in the end you can get a cheap computer. Nothing innovative besides the format, then again HD-DVD is as the same with features. For all the certain reasons I dislike MS, I still found myself with a PS3 a year later mainly for Fighters and JRPG's I've come to love on the PS brand. FF..etc

If I was a cheap gamer looking for a next-gen console(and didn't know N4G existed) then, I would go for the 360 plain and simple. Provided you get the new falcon chip ones of course. If you just wanna game, while not caring for Mem card readers, Blu-Ray movies, The 360's Gaming Library, Killa titles and XBL, is worth it, with the 1 year lead you cannot disregard.

Now if you want it all and for future promises/potentials, knowing you'll have to wait for devs to get better on the PS3 and such, then you get the PS3.

who is waiting for great games. play resistance, motorstorm,folklore,warhawk,ra tchet,uncharted, or heavenly sword, nba08, and tekken 5 online just to name a few exclusives. they are every bit as much fun as the best the 360 has to offer. theres something for everyone. racing, adventure, shooter, rpg, action, multiplayer, sports, fighter. thats what sony thrived on since the first playstation. theres a little something for everyone. and if you find the time between playing great games you can browse the web, watch a movie, listen to music, view some photos, change up your theme, and so on. and if you have a psp the experience can go anywhere.
edit: it just so happens sony has been doing new original franchises up to this point. you still have socom, final fantasy, gran turismo, metal gear solid, tekken just to name a few classic exclusive franchises to look forward to. plus you have this game called killzone 2 thats looking great and ofcourse home. oh and dont forget the titles on the playstation network. yeah ps3 sucks, i havent turned my on since i got it in february.

There is no denying it, but that is also why I have both the 360 and the PS3. But Blade, there is no getting around the hardware issue with the 360. My new Elite, not even 3 months old, RR'd on me a little over a week ago. So don't sit there trying to convince me that this is not an issue!

PS3 is better because they say so and 360 sucks simply because they tear up. I had the option to buy a PS3 recently, but instead, chose to get another 360 so I could play link. I thought to myself. What game would I get? And that's the thing. There are no standout games. No killer apps. When my friends saw Gears of War, they immediately ran out and bought 360s. I've had a few friends get the RROD, but they all had their consoles repaired and shipped back to them for free in less than 3 weeks. Between all the people I know, school, work, and the people I grew up with, no one I know is on their 3rd 360. And I know ALOT of gamers. People who are on their 4th or 5th 360 need to put it somewhere where it can breathe, or quit dropping it on the floor. I bought several PS2's when they broke on me, but I did it with a smile on my face because I had so much money invested in the system and couldn't wait to get back to my games. To a certain extent he's right. I beleive that the PS3 has many killer apps. That is, to a hardcore gamer. What the PS3 doesn't have is that game that when a kid sees it for the first time he has to have it. Sony needs a big cheesy game with blood and limbs flying everywhere. That is just like many of the cartoons hollywood pushes out, something the kids will love (the characters) and something the adults will laugh at (the small hidden measages the characters whip back and forth at each other). R&C is that game that when a kid sees it they say "I want that"! And I am not even including the games you can buy through the PS3...The games are there, the system is reliable, the price has come down, the bd movies are out in force. no one can deny, that Mass Effect has a lot of graphic issues and you notice the performance problems all the time. texture pop-ups, framerate issues, bad motion blur and bland outdoor environments are just some of them.

i really love Mass Effect, but it would run much better on a PS3, if it would be a PS3 exclusive, that's for sure.

Any exclusive for the 360 can be, and many have been pushed out to the PC with improvements (as in better than it was on the 360). Many of the multiplat games have been pushed to the PS3 with same or better gameplay and or graphics (Except for EA games). So why buy the 360 and prey it doesn't RR the next time you power it up when you can buy that game for the PC?

Now before you 360 guys get all twisted by this, I am not saying don't buy a 360! It is a great system once you get past the hardware issues. I would be enjoying mine right now if it wasn't sitting in a box to be shipped out to MS for repair. Three month old Elite...sad. Good thing my son still lives with me so I can use his! ...adn for my the best is the PS3. The exclusives for the PS3 are simply amazing...but I think Halo 3, Mass Effect, and Gears of War are awesome. I think there's more exclusives for the PS3 that are better and it also upscales my DVDs and PS2 games. The Xbox360 also has shoddy hardware..the DVD-Rom drive is so loud and the fans in the back are too even though it has excellent ventillation. I think that the PS3 will have the same features if not more when home comes as Xbox Live so for me the PS3 is the system that I like the best. The Wii is best for families and not for hardcore gamers. There are a few games for hardcore gamers, but it's not enough to warrant a purchase (besides the fact that it can't play DVDs and doesn't do HD resolutions).

Now, look at everything you get with the PS3, it is LOADED with features and is the undisputable powerhouse when it comes to consoles.

The 360, well...

If it wants to stay current and still sell in the future,
it is going to have to add on an HDDVD drive as standard and release games on HDDVD...
The 360's power is currently maxxed out,
it's online capability requires a steep "tax",
anything ps3 currently offers will only be availible on the 360 (such as HDMI) through pricy hardware add-ons,
so if you analyze this in terms of cost, in the future, if the 360 wants to try and stand toe-to-toe with the PS3,
it will be forced to drop the price to around 199, otherwise the prices of the addons will become a problem and end up costing alot more to add the functionality that comes stock in the PS3, and if people catch too much of this, the X-box Live price is going to come under heavy fire standing next to a competitor offering full online access for free.
399 is the lowest i see it going for a PS3, and 399 is one HELL of a deal considering the above.

I guess I really don't get it. As gamers don't we just want to play the best games? And let's face it, each system has its good games. Sony might not have the AAA yet, but it has enough AA to make it a compelling platform for ANYONE (gamers, non-gamers, those who already have another system, etc.). Firstly, leave it to the company, to market and try to sell instead of try to convince by a article. There are different type of gamers that like different experiences.

Online gamers will go for the 360 for now(very established online system that works great), more casual or younger for Wii (I have it and only play Zelda and Mario, so not all are kids just biggest demographic), and PS3 can have some online gaming (will grow in time to greater things), and a the greatest RPGs, and a few great single player focused exclusives that are more rare on the 360.

It's what you enjoy that will sell the console, shouldn't be media, or hell your best friend, but some are easily persuaded these days.

I don't own a Wii but I've played it and it just doesn't appeal to me.

My 360 gets used the most and besides demos, RFOM and Uncharted my PS3 does nothing but collect dust. The 360 offers everything the PS3 does minus Blu-ray, Media card slots and Mouse support. I'm buying a game console mainly for games so BR doesn't mean sh*t to me. Card slots are hype, just use a USB mem stick and it's essentially the same thing. The 360 does all the media playback and streaming the PS3 does but if you have a Media Center PC/Home Server, etc it absolutely blows it out of the water. Web browsing, plays all video formats(transcoding), tons of web portals(MTV Overdrive, Comedy Central, Sci-Fi and about 50 more), Vongo movie rentals, Internet TV, Sports scores with Fox Sports, tons of community add-ons/mods for it. It takes media on a console to a whole another level.

razer i dont believe that u own a PS3 if u say its collecting dust...the games out right now are the best on any console..unless your a FPS gamer and thats all u play...u didnt list what games on the 360 is keeping u busy but im guessing halo 2.5.

if u havent picked up warhawk then you are seriouly missing out on the greatest online experience

PS3 has the brightest future and these last couple of months sony has shown us what lies ahead and does it ever look GREAT!
