DmC a true, “intense” collaboration with Capcom

Capcom and Ninja Theory have both said the latest Devil May Cry game, DmC, is very much a product of both houses, not a case of the developer working independently – especially when it comes to combat.

well, I don't know. I know Hideaki is working on Dogma, but he still shows up in the interviews and talks about DmC as the director. He may just be a PR or at least as supervisor. We really don't know how involved Hideaki is with DmC, but I would assume he wanted a true DmC created from scratch. Maybe he was getting fed up using DMC1 as a reference.

That's right the original Dante doesn't smoke nor is he a rebel.

He's laid back and indifferent and his favorite food is Pizza and he loves Stawberry sundae.

I honestly don't see who this game is for, i mean who are their target audience? Casual gamers know nothing of DMC and probably wont buy it and long time fans like myself wont be buying it either because of that scenester fag aka new Dante

I've been wondering the same thing because the DMC fan-base isn't as big as FF where no matter the quality of the game there's a couple of millions that will buy it just because of the name. Most fans are pissed and casuals and non-fans only buy based on reviews and multiplayer. So the only way this game would sell is if it scores only 10's across the boards and from those few hard-core fans that would buy it just based on the name.

Im amazed how NT and Capcom try to down play just how much hate this game is getting, also Im honestly surprised it's still in development, any other game getting this level of hate from its "core fanbase" would have been dropped a week after the teaser trailer.

Even if people do buy the game, without the backing of the core fan base its going nowhere, I honestly hate to say this, but DmC could spell the end for the DMC franchise...

I don't care if the gameplay makes hell freeze over, they should have name the game something else and not destroy DMC.

DMC was originally meant to be RE4 but saw that it was just too different, and thus DMC was born. Smart move, imagine the outrage if DMC was RE4.

They love it for the gameplay and Dante. Whatever happens with this game, the maximum it could possibly achieve is only half of why people like DMC, and that's gameplay, cus it aint gonna be the fucking character.

The hate for this game is becoming annoying. Fans, do yourself a favour, and shut the fuck up. Being a big DMC fan, I don't like the look either, but whining on N4G is going to do fuck all. Can we not wait until a legit direct feed gameplay footage video is shown before we judge. I swear all gamers today do is whine whine whine. You all sound like a bunch of kids. With all due respect you don't have to read these comments if it's such a bother. You say there is no arrogance in your initial comment but who are you to talk down to fans and tell them to "shut the fuck up" simply because you don't like what's being said. That is an attitude of superiority which is a hallmark of arrogance.

It's not "something barely seen" it is displeasure over something we have all obviously seen. It not being afraid of change as you stated in post 13. People look to change to better an experience. Go on any game specific forum and you will find fans talking about how to improve an experience and you will find developers that listen. That's why the General Knoxx DLC for borderlands was the way it was. Fans were let down by no vault access after the game.

You also stated that "whining on N4G is going to do fuck all.". The burden of proof is on you. I have seen many developers accept changes across many websites. The Q&A with Robert Bowling on Reddit to address the hardcore being one example. You'd have to be naive to think developers don't look at free feedback from a community that cares about a specific franchise. They use a multitude of methods to do so.

Your final sentence is a logical fallacy in post 13. You can't state that with any authority. If a game goes a direction I don't like I don't support it with my money plain and simple. I think it's safe to take people at their word when they say they aren't supporting or are not going to buy something.

No one needs shutting up. The comments section doesn't need to serve as an automatic fellate button for every game there is. Just like in every post about COD you may get a little back and forth from BF players. Or you may see some back and forth between the whole PC vs Console.

If people get under your skin that much then perhaps N4G or even the internet in general isn't the place for you. No one is going to read your initial post and say "Yeah Optical is right I should shut up and never express myself for fear of being a general annoyance." Actually I'll be one of the people who will wait for the reviews and general comments of fans before I play this game.

I just don't want to be greatly disappointed after the horrible plastic surgery they did to Dante. I know NT won't disappoint me with the story but I may not be able to stomach the changes. lol!

So I'll play it safe and wait things out.

Also regarding the negativity. It depends if the comment is justified or not. More importantly what type of comments are posted.

If the opinion is just to call the game names without any justification then you have a point but if the opinions are civilized and with justifiable reasons then that should be okay.

Man i agree with you 100% but i think whats happening on n4g is more of whining then anything else. The same individuals that are the ones saying the game looks awful or they will boycott the game are the same people in each new dmc article it seems. It all gets negative, its okay to disagree or state opinions but trolling and negativity are quite another.

Let's take a different game for just a moment. Square has made some rather interesting decisions with the Final Fantasy series after 10 and especially as of late.

The negative feedback from fans could have been seen as whining from people that aren't as intimately familiar with the series. From memory although 13 sold rather well though it was received poorly considering how ambitious it is.

Those negative remarks from people seemingly have been addressed with the next iteration. I wonder if that would have been possible prior to the internet. This is a great way for hardcore fans, casuals and everyone in between to make their opinion heard and gives an opportunity for the developers to seek out feedback during and after the process.

In this case it's not just N4G. It's seemingly everywhere I have read a comments section on DmC. People seem to universally dislike the direction they are going with the character design. We can't assume that everyone is going to just get over it and eventually play the game. This isn't just a minor gameplay element that was changed.

The very character we are supposed to immerse ourselves in looks marketed to tween girls. That is going to hurt sales.

Fans of the series are usually the ones commenting on articles. Be it COD, LBP or in this case DmC. That's why the same people are seemingly showing up. I don't necessarily see it as trolling just as I didn't see it as trolling when people complained about the lack of towns and exploration in FF13.

Your absolutely right I actually bought ff13 think it would be a fairy decent game however as you started the lack of exploration, wonkey weapon system amongst other things really hurt the game to me. But there are 2 key differences in this case ff13 was released first then once everyone played it these issues came to light.

Dmc hasnt ben released yet in fact as of today only a minute and fifteen seconds of gameplay have been shown. Yes NT decided to change the story in this reboot. But I'm willing to give it a shot anyway at lest until more about the game is shown. Im a HUGE dmc fan buy I can honestly say dmc4 was pretty bad so was dmc 2
But change isn't necessarily bad.

I was,a VERY vocal person last year when NT first showed dmc I hated the new look. I still do. But its been a year he looks fundraiser coherent now and NT has already said that by the end of the game he will look like classic Dante. Lol its like what else can they do.
