Family forces retarded man to blame murder on video game

In Akron, Ohio, a man was sentenced to life in prison for the beating death of an 18-month-old child after his family reportedly manipulated his retarded brother to take the blame because of a tampered video game.

According to police, Archie Wooden, 20, originally stated that he beat the toddler. However, his story changed dramatically, eventually blaming the death on Jarel Wooden, his mentally retarded brother.

At trial, Jarel testified that the toddler was tampering with a video game that he was playing. He said that he became angry and began shoving the 18-month-old to the ground several times.

However, social workers said Jarel gave them conflicting reports and they believed that his family was manipulating him to save his older brother.

This news sucks this is only going to bring out the worse in Jack and blame Video games again. My wishes go out to the family and hope they can cope in this time of loss.

I feel sorry for his mental illness, and i agree with you... lock the whole family up... you can't blame it on video game or the mental challenge guy... the family should be extra careful then... jeez this news make me very angry >.<

Fezthebest6027d ago

this is truly sad, my condolences to the family.
But Twizlex you should have changed the retarded to mentally handicapped or something like that, i don't know it just seems degrading.

Twizlex6027d ago

Regardless of whether or not you find the term "retarded" to be insensitive or offensive, the n4g guidelines say not to change headlines. This was the title for the actual article, so I was a good little monkey and left it alone.

gamesblow6027d ago

Yeah, the article calls him a retard... why should we conduct ourselves with kooth and dignity when they're not? It's not my fault the guy is retarded and it's not my fault they called him retarded. Stop being so sensitive. Life is full of incredibly painful events to view and live thru. Maybe someday you'll understand the world and future is x rated. not G.

Twizlex6027d ago

X rated? I don't know about you, but my walls are pink, my carpet is made out of fluffy white clouds, and when I open my refrigerator it shoots out a rainbow. My wife and I had a baby after we held hands a lot and prayed, and I've never seen my wang because it's blurred out.

Also, I beat my wife a lot because she thinks the stars that spin around her head are pretty. She never REALLY gets hurt though - that would just not be appropriate for younger viewers. In real life, violence is colorful and fun!

EKWB reportedly plagued with financial disarray many gaming pc's left without parts

EK Cooling allegedly has slipped itself into a hot soup of seemingly endless financial woes, where it has not paid its staff, suppliers, and contractors for many months as the company is facing liquidity problems and a surplus of inventory left unsold, stuck in the warehouse for a more extended period. Gamers Nexus investigated these claims made by former and current personnel, where he found trails of unpaid bills lasting as long as three to four months and unpaid raises that accumulated for almost a year.

EK Water Blocks has two entities—a Slovenian-based headquarters and a US-based subsidiary, EK Cooling Solutions. Steve narrated the series of events in detail, stating that the company was reportedly irresponsible and negligent regarding payment. Consequently, partners and employees are forced to share the burden of alleged mismanagement. It all begins with its extensive range of products, leading to a surplus of goods. EK has over 230 water blocks, 40 liquid cooling kits, 85 reservoirs, 40 pumps, 73 radiators, and 212 miscellaneous accessories.

Yes this is not about video games directly but indirectly this will impact the pc gaming/workstation space hard.

This company is massive one of two in the water cool space so if it goes poof then thousands out there have no spare parts or half built computers.

SO yeah i know not about a video game but think of it as amd leaving the pc space but this is ekwb that could be leaving water cooling in the pc space

Jayz2cents a supporter of there products also has issues

As someone that has built a watercooling rig. EK is big, but there's so many numerous watercooling part companies out there. EK's stuff isn't exactly amazing quality for the price compared to others either, it's just ok. Much like Corsair. The impact would be negligible long term. For perspective the majority of my parts are XSPC, at most I use EK for my gpu waterblocks and fittings. Both easily replaceable.
