Famous russian philosopher shares his thoughts about modern gaming industry: "Dear Sony! You are one of the main players in the gaming market, but quite often your sales are bypassed by Microsoft with their exclusives. There are several reasons for this, but the primary one is the plot of your games." Heat to read after a jump.
Ross Scott—also known as Accursed Farms on YouTube—has been fighting tooth and nail for almost a full year to help spearhead game preservation. Starting after it was announced that Ubisoft's The Crew would be shutting down, permanently ending support for the game, Scott launched the "Stop Killing Games" initiative.
That makes a twofold deadline for the Stop Killing Games initiative. Or, at least, one headed up by Scott: The UK petition, which ends July 14, and the EU Citizens' Initiative, which ends July 3.
If you live in the EU then Please sign this or our game ownership rights and game preservation is
at stake. I know there isnt much time left but please consider signing the petition
From the mid-1980s to the early part of the 2000s, light gun rail shooters were a staple in both arcade and home system gaming. Arguably, the genre started to really hit its stride in the mid-1990s. While games like Time Crisis, Virtual Cop, and House of the Dead, among others, dominated both the home system and arcade space, some one relegated to only home game systems. Today, we’ll be talking about a little-known cult game published by Sony called Project: Horned Owl. This game was developed by Alfa Systems, and all in all, this is a fun game.
There are many exciting updates this month for Xbox. Copilot for Gaming is available now for early preview on mobile and will be coming to PC soon. Xbox PC app introduces a wave of new updates: Aggregated gaming library gives players quick access to games from Xbox, Game Pass, and other leading PC storefronts, and with publisher channels players can browse their favorite franchises. Updates for the Xbox Console includes customization for Most Recently Used, free-to-play benefits, Game Hubs, and dialog improvements for game saves.
"Players can now hide system apps, pin favorites to the list, and reduce the number of tiles displayed. This update is part of our ongoing effort to make Home more personal, flexible, and responsive to feedback."
This is welcomed, i like a less cluttered home screen.
Gotta be a slow news day when a 18 hours and 3 comments (now 4)makes it to the front page🤷🏿
.
Well anything that adds and help gamers is a good thing even if some don’t need it there’ll be more that will use it.
"Uncharted and MGS-games aren't first-grade plot"?
I guess Gears and Halo are very original.
"Following this, I, on behalf of all PS3 owners beg you: Bring to PS3 more heroic games! We want to be heroes! We are tired of playing as stupid egoists!"
That's one of the most stupid statements I have ever read. It's like saying "We are tired of playing as stupid space marines".
"The Japanese had made the console solely as an end in itself. Forget gaming - this is a "media center" that can store photos (not well), play movies (not really) and blu-rays (which have almost nothing to watch) and disclose its (missing) potential. Xbox, in comparison, can perform only a single task - run excellent games."
Then why are 360 fanboys keeps bragging about party chat if it only "runs excellent games". The reason why it has so many features is because of the value of a game console that can also be used as a media center.
"In this way Sony will never make good games, or provide a high-quality service - it is destined to serve as a counterweight for the US with its Asian stubbornness and clumsiness "
A very racist statement if you ask me. Basically they are saying that PS3 cannot compete with the 360 because it is made by a Japanese Company.
"PS has no first-class games, despite directly copying the Holy Trinity of Halo + GoW + ME, it still is not even close in terms of quality. Yes, there are Killzone + Uncharted + Heavy Rain – dragged up to the second class by the abundance of post-effects, dark environment, gloomy atmosphere and a plethora of negative characters. Which is a very alarming symptom."
PS3 exclusives directly copying the "Holy Trinity"? They are different games!! You cannot compare Killzone to Halo and Uncharted to Gears because they are "different" games with different gameplay for different people. Mass Effect is multiplatform. I don't randomly bash games(except CoD) because I know why people like them.
"Exclusive Sony games, however, have no positive characters at all, which leads to them being forgotten almost immediately after release. Playstation could not even create its own mascots, resorting to dragging around for years the completely unremarkable sackboy from LBP. The Japanese rushed to take advantage of all known cheap dramatic tricks without a pinch of reflection."
The PS brand is known to be for everyone. You can have something for all ages like LBP, for Fragheads like Killzone or hardcore games like Demon's Souls.
Regarding the mascot, Sony doesn't need one because the PS brand is again "known to be for everyone". It would be a disaster if the PS3 is marketed towards everyone but it's poster boy is Kratos.
The closest mascots Sony is going to get are Crash(MIA) and Sackboy.
I give up.
He makes a good point about the storys being crap. That rings true again recently when we hear complaints about Killzone 3 story. The mascot is another good point who the hell is PS3s mascot. When you think 360 you instantly think Master Chief. Please dont say sack boy.Hes a character for little kids
The rest was a major case of tl:dr
who is this guy trying to convince?
That was a heck of a lot of Fanboy drivel. This guys sounds like he's never even touched a Playstation console in his life.
Sony has several mascots. Crash Bandicoot, Spyro the Dragon, Sly Cooper, Solid Snake, and of course, more recently, Nathan Drake, Sackboy, and Kratos.
Sony right now is more focused on providing Core gaming experiences that Microsoft. This is fact. And this generation, they've been making a LOT of good games. MGS4, Uncharted 1-2, inFamouns, Heavy Rain, WarHawk, the list goes on and on. Not to mention that while some games may not have the deepest plots of stories, what they do have, they execute well (or in Uncharted's case, superbly).
Let's also not forget that in most cases, PS3 exclusives have a higher technical threshold, thanks to the Cell architecture. Meaning most exclusives run at or above 720p and around 30fps. While that's not a HUGE gap above what most 360 exclusives run at, it's does speak to the solid design choices that went into the PS3's blueprints.
The PS3 is also a more capable multi-media center in a lot of regards. It has a internet browser (though rudimentary, it is what it is), it's a Blu-Ray player, you can display more photos that just .jpeg ... the list goes on and on.
I'd also like to know which stupid space marine he's talking about, because I don't consider Master Chief "stupid", and I wouldn't exactly class any of the characters in Killzone as space marines.
But anyways, logic will be thrown out the window as this guy has just incited the next 1000 degree War-Topic. Fanboys and Trolls should be here shortly, and to hell with reasoning will be their cry.
That needs to be aproved and read by everyone in gaming industry.
The author have some good points.
