Overall should be somewhat based on all the grades given in each category. Doesn't make any sense to get a low "overall" grade if you're doing decent everywhere. It would be like if a teacher would tell you your kid had an A in science, A in english, B in math, C in art, B in geography, so OVERALL you kid get a C.... (No reasons given...)

PS3 gets 3 A, 1 B, 2 C+, (6 grade about C!) and one C- and overall, it's given a C out of no where. I would likely smash the teacher who would dare to tell me that my kid a grades like that, but overall he is only a C without any reasons whatsoever.

But I guess for this article, I could do the same. So the author get a A+ for english, B+ for form, A for content, C- for research, so overall, he is getting a big F since I don't have to give any reason for his overall stupidity and his article is so crappy anyway : )

The pricepoint is also fair at $350 to start your HD and online gaming experience.

The 360 has low rankings for hardware but Microsoft has rectified these problems with the new "falcon" 65nm chips as well as all new 360s coming with a new larger heatsink on the GPU. And all previous customers will benefit from the extended 3 yr warranty to get the upgraded parts at no expense out of their own pockets.

The 360 won the grading contest, but just barely. It received the same grade as the Wii, but was chosen as the winner. The D- for 360 Hardware Design is not fair. Yes, there were significant problems with machines failing, but a D- is too harsh. Microsoft stepped up and fixes it for free, so the problem is only temporary for those that have an issue.

The C for 360 Innovation is also bogus. The triple-core CPU, 10MB of E-DRAM, and Unified Shaders are quite innovative. Lets not forget the Guide button which gives access to the dash menu at all times, even during game-play.

PS3 or XBox 360 didn't launch with 100 games. And developing for the Wii is cheaper and eassssier so basically saying the ps3 should have just as much games as the wii because they both launched around the same time is just not fair at all. Good games take time to make if you think the BS then look at Bioshock. As far as I know it took 7 years to make the game. Also I don't think those online grades are going remain the same. If this was a last gen battle then yes but this gen things are much different because of updates that all 3 consoles can get over a broadband connection could change one of those online play grades.

I have 2 RPGs for my 360. Oblivion and Enchanted arms. And in a few months I plan on buying Mass Efect, Eternal Sonata, Blue Dragon, and Lost Odyssey.

RPG is my favorite genre and PS3 has no RPGs coming out anytime soon.

Yeah you have a point but when the average buyer or w/e walks in EB games and sees 4 different XBox 360s behind the counter and ask for the cheapest one are they really going to be compatible for every game they buy? HE said you absolutely positively have to have it, When you dont, not only do you not need wireless *its slower then wired* there are cheaper alternatives to the wireless adaptor.

Get a core? yes you need a memory card, *by the way ALL Flavors of the 360 come with a silver membership* wanna play online? yes you have to purchase an 3 month, 6 month, 12 month membership card, or just use your credit card.

Do you have to have these things to play the games? nope, You only need them if you want to save or play online.

Okay lets get this st8 Oblivion is a MMORPG with no online therefore I hate it..It could be so much better if they just take the crap online story line wise its okay but the action isnt my type of game..now Enchanted Arms is on Ps3 is the most average Ubisoft game ever like most of there Rpgs it achieves mediocre standards...Mass Efect, Eternal Sonata, Blue Dragon, and Lost Odyssey.

How did the Wii score better on games than the PS3? PS3 has some huge titles coming up as well as a very (I'll say that again: very) solid future line-up. The Wii has some Huge titles coming up as well (mainly three) but a very uncertain future and a present line-up that consists of a lot of mini-games. Can anybody explain?

I couldn't agree more. Nintendo's only games of significant note continue to be theie 1st party mainstays - Mario (and the millions of Mario spin-offs), Zelda, and Metroid - maybe even SSB.

well i have all three consoles and i would give my 360 a B+ because it has a great online experience and some of the best multiplayer games made but is unreliable console. I would give the ps3 a B- because it is lacking games right now but they are coming and has lots of extra features and is very reliable with free online. I disagree, the ps3's gaming hardware is second rate compared to the 360. And it shows in ps3 titles. The selection of titles pale in comparison to the 360. Add the extra cost, and the ps3 is most definately in the C (if not D)rating.

There where a genre comparison done on the Xbox360 and FPS only accounts for 12% of the Xbox360 titles so give that a rest.
I also think it is ironic that two of the big PS3 exclusive releases this year are shooters (Haze, UT3), and Killzone 2 also coming out next year for which PS3 fans have been creaming their pants and one of the core games the PS3 have now - Resistance - is a FPS. The Xbox may have been FPS heavy but not the Xbox360. It almost sounds like the PS3 is taking that title now.

I have a 360 and I don't own a HD-DVD drive, therefore it's obviously NOT necessary. Is HD-DVD necessary? No. Is wifi? No. Is a card reader? Graphics: A- (Still havent seen what the CELL & RSX can FULLY do but it has alot of promise, system is hard to judge because of the crappy ports its recieved from 360, however 1 year from now alot will change)

Innovation: A (Noone has ever gave us CELL RSX and BLU RAY in one unit add in a hard drive for every console and thats innovation baby!

Hardware Design: A+ (PS3 is sexy as hell !)

Extras: A+ (Everything that comes with the unit, plus the PS store and a b eautiful XMB interface, monthly firmware updates upscaling DVDS & PS2/PS1 games to 1080P. This systems gets a A+ for that!

i have read soooo many posts that fanboys say that the ps3 is laggy... i swear i'm not being a fanboy but i have not lagged once in any game, rfom, CAC, warhawk beta, r6v, or motorstorm, most games all these games have voice support, so what's the difference??

is there other activities you can do on xlive? is there minigames or something? i was talking to a friend of a friend and he has a 360 and he said that he can play spades thru xlive.. is this like a feature of live?

i'm in home too, and you can play bowling and pool, but i know is not out yet.. bottom line why live gets so much praise? am i missing something??

I don't have a PS3, so I don't know what Sony's online service provides, so I can only tell you what Xbox Live does have. Unified system, with a unified friend's list. I know who is online and what they are playing (which is my favorite part). Large library of downloadable content; games, tv shows, HD movies, themes, gamer pics, additional game content, etc. Live works in conjunction with messenger. It all works extremely smoothly. Like I said, I don't know what Sony has, but I hope that answers your question.

BTW, can someone please explain to me how the PS3 would grade lower than the Wii? Maybe its because I am a 360 fan and the 360 and PS3 are similar machines, but I just don't get the Wii.

well in my friendslist it tells me if my friends are online of course and what they're playing...

but i went to youtube and i noticed the features, it's pretty cool, you already can download movies, which we don't have yet, and you guys have a crapload of demos, we only have a few.. but the whole kinda like info on each of your friends is great.. the achievements is a good idea, but there's a nice feeling when you play just to have fun and not worry so much about beating your friends in scores

the games that have achievements as a very important feature like motorstorm keeps me being frustrated and getting pissed off instead of me having fun like in rfom

To answer the guy who is asking about the difference between live and psn. I don't think its the actual performance of online play as I myself have had no issues with any lag. The difference for me personally is the small things such as unified friends list, seeing what my friends are playing/doing, friend invite scheme is the same through each game, tons of demo's and free content. Once Home comes I'd love to try it out and see how it compares but as of now the 360 has a much smoother more inviting online experience.

I will start off by saying I own a PS3. But I do think the XBox 360 wins as it stands right now. It has a larger quantity and larger variety of games than the other 2 consoles, that is because of the head start, but it deserves first place.

The Wii and the PS3 should be marked the same, neither console has that many games. What Wii gains in originality, it loses in Next Gen technology. The high price is a let down for the PS3, but what you get for your money is worth it if you can afford it.

its not a "next-gen" console.. there is not one peice of hardware < 10 y/o on it (DVD, 1280x720 res, memory cards, traditional controler, etc). I say its a great current gen console, but its not next gen.

Can't play blu-ray(wich is winning the format war) only able to play HD-DVD if you buy the drive for an extra $179. Wii: Grapichaly the weakest out of all three. Most people say that it's a GameCube 2.5 with a remote control. Sells like candy because of it's cheep price. No good games at all till date. Only PS2 and GameCube ports. No HDMI. No blu-ray or HD-DVD. Online is free but the weakest out of all three. Major milkage when considering that you are shelling out $5.99 for a 20 year old title on the Virtual console. Big hitters are about to come out after that there is nothing(at least they didn't mention anything else). Hardware is really week and old.
Total price: $300 ( I looked everywhere and I only found some packages for $429 and $350 and so on)

PS3: There are two problems that hurt this system at the moment. The lack of games and the pricetag. But all this is about to change real soon. Included is: blu-ray, hard drive wich is upgradable to a max of 200GB. Wi-Fi, blutooth, HDMI. Has to most excellent and most reliable ahrdware out of all three (been tested in all conditions and no problems). Big hitters comming out really soon. Have great games planed for 2008 ( MGS4, Killzone 2, Tekken 6, GT5 just to mention a few. Total price: $499(60GB) $599(80GB)

I Own a PS3 as well, I was going to buy a 360 first since it was cheaper, but I Did hardcore research for about 2 weeks before deciding.

I'll Eventually buy a 360 maybe, Once the hardware Issue is Fixed.
As for the Wii, I Think we'll wait until Wii Part 2 gets here.

I use a Xbox wireless adapter, couldn't run the cables thru out the house too far. It cost me alot but it was well worth it. Its one solid piece of hardware I can play any game lag free. I've been playing with a guy from Chile were about 75 percent thru the game. Although he dont speak a word of English and I dont speak Spanish. Its still pretty cool. I was worried about lagging for people outside the US.

I actually read this Gamepro grade test a month ago. And was thinking about trying to post it buy couldn't find a source online. And about 360 low hardware score, this magazine was printed before MS announced the 3 year warranties.

I'm looking at the magazine now the post is incorrect and missing a section. There wrong Price is really ( Sales ). OVERALL the Wii got a A-, the 360 got a B+, and the PS3 got C-.

Now I will just correct the ones that are wrong. All other are already correct.
The 360 hardware really got a D+. 360 Extras got a A.
Wii extras got a B+. The Wii got a B- for graphics.
The PS3 Online play got a B, extras got a A-.

Edit: by the way all consoles both handheld and PC were in this test.

Already have a PS3 at my house, and even my friend who has a 360 was totally impressed with the system. Kind of pointless to read other people's grades for the hardware; just try the systems out for yourself if you want the most accurate judgment. For a long time I actually disliked the Wii, but after getting a lot of hands-on time it's actually grown on me. We'll see if I purchase the system next year (depends on software offering). Tried the 360 many times, but it just wasn't for me. I'll keep the reasons to myself.

I know I'm gonna get flamed for this but I agree 100% actually and I believe these scores are totally fair. The 360 is great but unreliable. (yes I own one and love it but out of 15 people I know who own a 360, only one has still never had a problem.) While the PS 3 is reliable and well built (though ugly in my opinion) has nice extras but is lacking in games for now. And the Wii is great for a while too, but after a few months with mine I will only play with other people. That is the only whay it is fun.
