Bu-bu-bu-but Move will bomb.

Omega44975d ago

You know it won't do well when Sony themselves say its not a day one purchase and don't expect large launch numbers.

Game-ur4975d ago

But it seems to be selling way better than Sony's expectations; maybe it will be slow only in America.

justlikeme4975d ago (Edited 4975d ago )

Sony: The PSMove won't selll very well on day one.
Consumers: Oh yeah, we'll buy everyone until you are sold out!!
Sony: Fell right into our trap..... Mwahahhahahaha!!

rekof4975d ago (Edited 4975d ago )

@justlikeme : Dude LOL !!

Move will explode,.. Us Europeans like the shit that is good and works great !

shotgun_ps34975d ago (Edited 4975d ago )

What there saying is that the initial software line up is crap, like who's really going to pay 75 quid to play a clone of Wii Sports like Wii Sports isn't bad enough already lol, but once games like Littlebigplanet 2 and Killzone 3 come out Move will start to pick up. There just being honest about there sales projections.

morganfell4975d ago

It is gong to do great game-ur. In addition it actually works unlike that ridiculous device ms is trying to shove down the throats of the public with advertising dollars rather than working technology. Some people are just feeling the pressure that they smack talked and supported a piece of junk.

N4BmpS4975d ago (Edited 4975d ago )

Omega4, your comment lacks...common sense, Sony probably knows that their gaming software lacks that extra ooh-ah factor, after all the games that are supposed to be the biggest pusher for the Move aren't coming out til 2011 (i.e. KZ3, SOCOM4, The Sorcerer etc.) so they don't expect a big bang, heck they probably expect Move to bitz the Holiday season quickly. But I bet they're hoping it does do all of that and more. Seems to me that the move is doing just fine.

WhittO4975d ago

They said they dont expect day 1 numbers but for it to steadily grow as more Software launches early next year etc.

You really are just a fanboy.

mrv3214975d ago

The evolution of Omega4

1st gen Omega4: The cost is important, look at the PS3 it's $599 while the elite is only $X... then Sony dropped the price to $299 and Microsoft still charges too much for it's add ons and online
2nd gen Omega4: It's the graphics that sells units... just look at Gears of War. Then Uncharted 2 came out and NOT a single 360 game released has able to look better... now graphics aren't important
3rd gen Omega4; Multiplatform graphics really sell units... Burnout Paradise looks better on PS3 and he shuts up.
4th gen Omega4: No one plays blu-ray... HD-DVD DIES!
5th gen Omega4: Installs are killing the PS3... Microsoft launches install feature... he shuts up
6th gen Omega4: Sales... look at teh sales clearly the 360 is better. PS3 3 million behind... he shuts up
7th gen Omega4: Motion controls, look at how advanced Natal is... Bam video everywhere and casual games.

When will Omega4 just shut up.

postofficebuddy4975d ago

@Game-ur Maybe their expectations in North America aren't high but they seem to be in PAL. Sony said they're projecting 500k Move units sold in Germany this fiscal year.

jony_dols4975d ago (Edited 4975d ago )

and get a fucking life.

The highlight of your existence is trolling N4g articles.

Get a life you socially retarded virgin. (thats a fact that is truer than any NPD bullshit you flash around)

Even the other Xbox fanboys on here will probably agree.

shotgun_ps34975d ago (Edited 4975d ago )

either my fellow PS3 owners (be you fanboy or gamer) have turned against me or the the Nintendo fanboys have come out of the pipes at last.

morganfell4975d ago

You deserved the disagrees.

"...like who's really going to pay 75 quid to play a clone of Wii Sports like Wii Sports isn't bad enough already lol"

Anyone that believes Sports Champions is a clone of that ridiculous Wii Sports deserves the disagrees and bubbled down.

sikbeta4975d ago (Edited 4975d ago )

Omega was expecting a sh!tload of Overhyping PR talk and massive budget in advertising Over-promising to ends up Under-delivering with the final product... hmmm... pretty much like kinect...

O-T

Casual Gaming + Hardcore Gaming = All with the Same Device = PlayStation Move

shotgun_ps34975d ago

It is an exact copy of Sports Champion because the concept of both games is exactly the game. Granted, tech wise the SC is way ahead of Wii Sports but the concept of both of them is to play mini games that are based around sports and show of the technology to developers. The reason Sony are releasing a game like this is because Wii Sports has so far sold around 72 million copies. If Sports Champion even sells even 10% of that it's 7.2 million copies sold ,which judging by the amount of disagrees I got will happen on the launch day lol.

hiredhelp4975d ago

omega4 your momma still not leting you buy a ps3 yet.!!
hope you had your fish today and your 5ive aday. ;-)

morganfell4975d ago

And all shooters are the same because there is shooting. See how ridiculous that sounds?

Look, you are wrong. No if, ands, or buts. You are wrong, you made a ridiculous statement, were slapped with disagrees. The fact is the two titles are not the same.

Instead of saying, "That isn't the way I meant it", or "I was off on that remark", you redouble your efforts. Redoubling your efforts when you aim is forgotten is known as fanaticism.

And there should be no more whining because you asked why you received disagrees. I told you. You just aren't mature enough to accept the answer you were given.

shotgun_ps34975d ago

I am willing to admit I am wrong about what I said if you can give me a reason why, judging it as a game and not including the technology behind it as we're talking about the concept (not genre) of the game, Sports Champions is an improvement on Wii Sports in any way shape or form.

morganfell4975d ago

This really shouldn't be necessary. It shouldn't. If you understand the technology and depth of control then that alone should be the beginning of understanding as to why the two collections are as different as Doom and Killzone 3.

I had time with Move as far back as GDC where we played SOCOM behind closed doors. The relativity between the two titles ends with the words Sports and Motion Control. That is all those subjects have in common.

I have had a Wii with all the accessories for quite some time and we are discussing night and day here. For a reasoning person it really shouldn't require anymore guidance to begin to see things clearly.

shotgun_ps34975d ago

with no clear answer in them. But since you have no bubbles left I guess the last word is this, I am not disputing the technology (never have been and never will) because the technology is what puts Sports Champion above Wii Sports and it's awesome. This article is about a 360 fanboy saying "Sony themselves say its not a day one purchase" and I remember reading an article where someone from Sony did say that. Instead of going against what he said, because what he said is true, I'm trying to give a reason why Sony would say that. it's because they know the majority of people that own a PS3 aren't going to be duped into buying an amazing bit of technology by games that haven't been getting good review scores and are pretty basic. I was thinking about getting Start The Party but after seeing the reviews I think I'll just stick with the move enabled games I already got. Since this is my last bubble for the topic here's a closing word FANBOYS SUCK!

btk4975d ago

@shotgun_ps3
No they are not saying the launch games is crap. What they are saying is that it is launch games and there will be much more to come.

Who will buy Wii Sports on PS3 with Move? Well - those who would like to play Sports games with the Move controller because it is accurate, HD graphics - and who has a PS3 console. I am one of those. If the PS3 was not going to get a wand motion controller, then I was going to buy a Wii.

Most likely a lot of Wii owners will buy PS3 + Move with Sports titles simply because the graphics is better and the Move is more accurate.

bjornbear4975d ago (Edited 4975d ago )

No hyrius, no one ever thought that (no one worth taking seriously anyway)

the true doubt of move is, will catch on and be considered as an equal to DS3 instead of a gimmick/casual only alternative

that only time will tell, but it is shaping up nicely with KZ3, Infamous 2, Socom 4, MAG / MAG2, HR, LBP2 and RE5 support

but no way will Move bomb simply because of all the attention the Wii created for motion controls, people are naturally inclined towards Motion Controls now anyway

for this, we have Nintendo to thank (for taking the first big step)

morganfell4975d ago

I played the Ruse demo this morning and cannot wait to run the full game with Move. I have to Full Move sets preordered for pickup this week (Move, navigators, charging stations, ect) and can't wait. I am going to take Friday off and just spend the weekend with some great gaming.

Sheikh Yerbouti4975d ago

I found R.U.S.E. to be mediocre as did other reviewers. Under Siege might be the RTS to get for Move.

Solid_Snakeps34975d ago

i guess ze germans like to move it

Tailor-DKS4975d ago

hmm but i still dont know if i should buy move or not...

iamnsuperman4975d ago

I am getting it for RUSE now but if you do not want to play RUSE probs wait for LBP 2 or Socom and if they do not entise you then do not get it

Ravage274975d ago (Edited 4975d ago )

it's usually the 2nd generation of software that makes hardware shine (e.g. Sorcery) so you could wait a bit before making a decision.

For my case, i'm buying a set next week coz Razing Storm and table tennis looks too fun to miss out on :p Also really looking forward to using them in LBP2,KZ3,inFamous2 and all the future first party software with Move support.

This is what sold me on Razing Storm:

Chaostar4975d ago

I caught the new ad on UK TV last night, still no KB for us :( but it did a good job (the ladies present asked me about it) and was on during a popular show, which i'm not gonna admit to half watching ;P

slightly more OT: This is great news for Sony, Germany loves the Move...

...and Hasselhoff.

I use them most days and have for years 🤷🏻‍♂️

They're definitely way past a needed update, but I've got a tonne of fun out of them, so they haven't failed me.

bouzebbal956d ago

The best motion control platform it's so intuitive.. Died due to lack of support from Sony.. It had some amazing games

thorstein957d ago

They are used constantly for PSVR games. So, no they haven't failed. Neither has PSVR (or VR in general.)

Bigman4k957d ago (Edited 957d ago )

The article was talking about why it ps move failed before psvr came along

SPEAKxTHExTRUTH957d ago

It failed because it sucked plain and simple.

LOGICWINS957d ago

I feel that's a bit harsh. To this day, playing Killzone 3's campaign with PS Move/Sharpshooter gun combo is the most fun/immersive experience I've ever had with an FPS.

I think Move was simply not as profitable as Sony wanted it to be, but it didn't "suck".

SPEAKxTHExTRUTH957d ago

It most definitely sucked. You people can act like it was something special all you want but it was horrible. The entire motion control fad was a waste of resources and time. Ever single motion controller besides the Wii failed and is no longer being used today in gaming. It's ok to admit it...

Minute Man 721957d ago

@SPEAK

The Move was better that the Wii mote. If the Wii was anywhere accurate as the Move was you could say the Wii was better. Sure it sold boatloads but was it really played consistently??

yeahokwhatever957d ago

I played it in 3D with the move gun on a 100 inch projector and it BLEW MY MIND. I was exhausted, but i finished the campaign standing there.

SullysCigar957d ago

"Ever single motion controller besides the Wii failed and is no longer being used today in gaming"

Just no. Games release most weeks (for years now) that support Move controllers. Some ONLY use Move controllers.

Look, I get you're not a fan, but if you're going to rant, at least inform yourself in advance.

LordoftheCritics957d ago

I would say both Move and Kinect weren't supported properly.

Sony and MS abandoned what could have been amazing.

SPEAKxTHExTRUTH957d ago

Kinect sucked too. I would say Kinect may have been cool had it worked as intended but it was ahead of it's time. Both Kinect and Move are gimmicks nothing more. I honestly don't see why Sony still implements "motion controls" recent controllers. Who really uses that crap? And to play what?

Profchaos957d ago

I so t think Sony abandoned the move it's technically repurposed and still supported on the ps5 just for VR

RedDevils957d ago

Kinect should be kept as media interactive features.

LordoftheCritics957d ago (Edited 957d ago )

@SPEAKxTHExTRUTH
Again if it was supported right.

Where even a fast click of my fingers could get an immediate in game response.

It feels trash because we have been shown or lived with bad versions of gesture based tech. Think Minority Report fast. That could be something.

''You people can act like it was something special all you want but it was horrible.''

No one is acting like it was special, I said it could be amazing.

''I think Move was simply not as profitable as Sony wanted it to be''

Like I said, it wasnt supported. Give us a AAA game with precision gestures well implemented into the game and then we can discuss profits.

957d ago
SPEAKxTHExTRUTH957d ago

I don't deal in "what if". It wasn't supported right and even if it was it was still a gimmick.

thorstein957d ago

"Like I said, it wasnt supported. Give us a AAA game with precision gestures well implemented into the game"

You just described every AAA PSVR game. And even the indies have incredible integration. No Man's Sky VR is insanely good.

Silly gameAr957d ago

And, you can act like it was horrible, but I had a blast with my Move. I had the whole collection of House of the Dead, Dead Space Extraction, and RE Darkside Cronicles, The Fight, and Socom 4, and I would play the hell out of those games I even beat a playthrough of the Resistance 3 campaign with the Move. Getting drunk and playing with friends was a freaking blast.

You can pretend that you had a move and played it all you want SPeak the Truth, but it was accurate, and usually on point. I hate when people act like they've played something just to trash it, when they really just have a vendetta, and think the Move is easy prey for your hate.

Minute Man 721957d ago

Wait you can play Dead Space with the Move?? I need it

Orchard957d ago

“You can pretend that you had a move”

I love this crazy idea that if someone has something bad to say about hardware/software - they must be lying about owning it and clearly do not own it!

Because all hardware and software has a 100% approval rating from all purchasers…

P_Bomb957d ago (Edited 957d ago )

Shoot I forgot about Dead Space Extraction and Umbrella Chronicles. Had those too. Still do (digital).

SPEAKxTHExTRUTH957d ago

I have a vendetta against Move? Lmao that's the most ridiculous comment I've read today. I didn't buy it because like I said motion controls are gimmicks. I had a Wii and it was decent enough but a gimmick although successful. I had a Kinect and it too was trash. Don't act as if you know what I have and haven't owned. Move was nothing more than a Wiimote ripoff

yeahokwhatever957d ago

SO MANY really great experiences for the Move. The Fight was excellent!

Silly gameAr957d ago (Edited 957d ago )

@Minute Man

There was a game called Dead Space Extraction that you could play the Move with.

@Orchard. Please don't reply to me, because every time I say something to you, I magically end up restricted. So, just ignore me like I ignore you, so there will be no hurt feelings, please.

"Ever single motion controller besides the Wii failed and is no longer being used today in gaming. It's ok to admit it..."

That is demostrably false.... Most VR games have motion controls and the PSVR uses the Move controllers.

SPEAKxTHExTRUTH957d ago (Edited 957d ago )

VR games have a controller most of the time not some magic wand. And VR is not the same as PS move or Kinect. I'm not a fan of VR either. A controller and a couch is all I need for my gaming needs.

Vanfernal957d ago

@SPEAKxTHExTRUTH

"And VR is not the same as PS move or Kinect."

PSVR LITERALLY uses the Move controllers. Now it's just obvious you have no idea what you're talking about. You're saying Move failed and nobody uses it anymore when it's an integral part of PSVR and is still being used in 2021.

ScootaKuH957d ago

It didn't suck. It worked but the games just weren't there, that's why it failed.

Father__Merrin957d ago

The move was excellent it was 1 to 1 precise time crisis was a joy to play aswell as sports champions it didn't hit mainstream as it was an addon unlike Nintendo wiimote

Lack of games that proved the concept that 3rd parties could then copy en masse?

Silly Mammo956d ago

I wish that someone would have made a proper boxing game. I still have a blast with the Sports Champions boxing, but to have a boxing game that was more in-depth would have been awesome.

Dario_DC956d ago

Try Creed for PSVR, it's brilliant

OMGitzThatGuy957d ago

Because it was a uninspired ripoff of the Wii controller without the Nintendo library to back it and didn't try to put any real effort into development such as getting their top developers to make games for it and instead gave tech demos disguised as games to their least talented developers so the best can focus on single player only games.

Ryushaa957d ago

Except the Move was an idea roughly implemented in the PS2. Yes, I'm serious.
Just search on youtube: PlayStation 2 - Motion Controller (2004)

Nonetheless, just like the whole Wii, it was more of a gimmick than a proper input evolution in games.

jukins957d ago

Exactly. Its funny time and time again sony is the first innovate. Often at its own peril. Like your example the move started on ps2 taken advantage of by nintendo. Sony buys gakai for game streaming only for other companies to overtake them.

Profchaos957d ago

Are you talking about the gametrak on os2 which used strings to track your hand position I used to have this and a gold game it was awesome but the game itself sucked if it had integration with tiger woods or something it would be way better the tracking was excellent even back then as it wasn't using guesswork.
However the game was very forgiving and no way to turn it harder and no licensed players or courses hurt it.

957d ago Replies(2)
yeahokwhatever957d ago

99% of the Wii's games were "shovelware", in fact, I think thats what started that phrase..

EvertonFC957d ago

Socom, killzone, resistance and tiger wood 14 were great with the move but agree lacked more games.

yeahokwhatever957d ago

There were plenty of games and I'm glad that not every game became a Move game.

These PS3 Games are Going to get Really Expensive

Could you get rich by investing in PS3 games? Almost definitely not. Can you make a few bucks by flipping PS3 games over the years? Yeah, sure! It wouldn’t even be that difficult. But let’s face it: Once these games are in your collection, you’re probably keeping them forever.

There's a reason I didn't buy most of these when they came out.

MadLad959d ago

After a game's multiple generations old, and can't be had new at a reasonable price, that's when I see nothing wrong with emulation.

What's the point of paying someone scalper prices when the dev/publisher isn't even benefiting from it?

mkis007959d ago

Emulation doesn't stop a games physical box from becoming collectible.

Knightofelemia959d ago

I paid $30 for SH Downpour on PS3 now it's around $70-$85 Canadian Lolipop Chainsaw I paid $15 and it has really gone up in price. I wonder if Transformers War and Fall of Cybertron will go up in price two of the best Transformers games every made.

neutralgamer1992959d ago

In 5 years time all those games will be worth at least $150 to $200 that you listed

959d ago
neutralgamer1992959d ago

Ever since Sony announced that they would shut down PS3 store these prices have skyrocketed and even though Sony backtracked now most gamers realize that it's a matter of time before the PlayStation 3 store is shut down. If you want these games get them while you can even if digital because once that story shut down the physical prices will just go crazy high we saw that already

And many of these games did not sell like crazy amounts so they are limited number of copies available for sale at any given time

MadLad959d ago

Folklore is a game I've always really wanted to play, but I got a PS3 late in the generation, and it was already really expensive to find, being it didn't exactly sell well, therefore was already kind of a collector's item.

Kept hoping I'd find a cheap copy randomly at stores and flea markets, but never happened.

franwex959d ago

I got mine for $5 at Walmart like 10 years ago. I have yet to play it.

neutralgamer1992959d ago

It was available at GameStop for a while for under $20. Don't know har happened but GameStop started to sell their used games based on ebay prices it seems

You can still find it for around $60-70 and which in my opinion is a good price for a game that will be worth double if not triple that in next 5 years

Mr Logic959d ago

Have you considered modding your PS3? Neither Sony or the dev would be getting money from that Folklore purchase. Kind of a victimless crime at that point.

MadLad959d ago (Edited 959d ago )

@neutral

Honestly, I just want to actually give the experience a try. I'm not someone who would buy it at a premium just to potentially rip someone off down the road.
I mean, there are collectors out there and if paying a couple hundred dollars is worth it to them then more power to them, but I'm not one to be on either end of that exchange.

I know it's taboo, but I might dig in and see the state of PS3 emulation on PC. I have a good PC, so it might be able to power through the often times poor performance, being PS3 is known to be hard to emulate.

I've never emulated anything past the PS2/Dreamcast but, as I said in my first post, I don't see anything wrong with emulation if the game you want to play can only be had used, with no money going to the creators.
