2K 'Excited' over Mafia 2 Sony Partnership

2K Senior Producer Denby Grace has said the firm is "excited" about its partnership with Sony for Mafia II, which will see exclusive downloadble content released for the PS3 version.

"We're really excited to announce this sort of partnership with Sony," said Grace. "We're going to be releasing some [PS3-exclusive] DLC at some point," he added, declined to reveal any specifics on exactly what extra treats Sony fans can expect from the developer.

i am getting the PS3 version for the extra DLC content. my wife is playing the hell out of RDR. i have little time to play Mag on my PS3.. i am thinking about getting a PS3 slim to play MAG/Mafia II to the fullest... Mafia II might push me over the edge.... lol

Achievements > Trophies, Why? Achievements have been around way longer and every 360 game has them, and i rather keep on collecting them than start collecting trophies.

But im sure the PS3 version will have DLC, with extra trophies, so thats pretty good.

not for the people missing it. I think every fanbase is getting the shaft. First it was only PS3 owners and xbox fans were happy. Now Sony is cutting deals, and xbox fans are getting shafted as well. Probably this DLC will come later to XBL, but you will have to pay.

BTW, no need for DLC. BD has a lot of space. I guess 2K didnt want to piss off MS offering a different game out of the box. Well whatever. I'll wait a nice price drop as always, still some catchup to do.

i don't like the concept of exclusive dlc. (whether it's for 360, ps3, pc....whatever)
if you buy the game - the dlc that comes out should be available to you, regardless of what console you have.

I disagree with it too, but there's a need to stay competitive. Microsoft abuse the exclusivity period too, to advertise these products as only on XBOX, they even use the DLC to insinuate that the game itself is only on XBOX. It's really low, in my opinion.

At least these exclusive DLCs are not timed. I wouldn't imagine. Considering how Sony said that they think timed DLC is hilarious, or whatever the statement that came out of SCEE was. It was along those lines.

I understand your stance my friend. It's not OK players get different contents of the same game, but those are the new rules set in this gen. At least both platforms can actually play the game. No more third party games for a single platform is the norm nowadays, mappacks and additional content are the new "exclusives".

Sony wasnt in the best position to negotiate due to the weak PS3 install base. Now that changed after the Slim release. If 2010 E3 is showing a trend, Sony is working hard to grant more content from third party guys.

To be honest, I couldnt care less about this DLC. I dont buy much of the dlc stuff these days, to me it seems that I´m being ripped off when the developers have the choice to put it on the bluray but choses to sell it as dlc.
