Tekken 7: Bringing Tag Back?

For some hardcore fans, Tekken 6 was a disappointment on many levels. One of the many reason were mainly because Tekken 6: Bloodline Rebellion was a two year old Arcade port by the time of it’s console release. Many were turned off by the fact that Namco offer nothing new in the PS360 versions of the game which was quite the opposite of what Namco has done with past games.

Despite it’s flaws Tekken 6 managed to sell over 1m copies worldwide and is still considered to be one of the best 3D fighter available. With the inevitable announcement that Tekken 7 is currently in development fans of the series may be hoping Namco Bandai’s Katsuhiro Harada will implement a feature not seen in Tekken since it’s PlayStation 2 days: a Tag Mode

Tag is my absolute favorite Tekken (followed by T2). And it's the one I STILL play.

I liked tag but I enjoyed the bowling mini game more. That thing rocked! I hope they bring this back or at least as a downloadable mini I would pay for that.

if there is a tekken 7 coming so soon i am not sure they put in too much effort it took so long for them 2 realse 6 i almost forgot abouth tekken and when it came out it was woeful

The developers have confirmed that Tekken 7 is still in it's early stages of development, which means we won't be seeing it until mid/late 2011.

They now have a complete engine and have experienced working on new-gen consoles, so it shouldn't take them that long to release Tekken 7 with great looking graphics.

6 took so long as half way through development they had to start on a second console version. They never done Tekken for 2 consoles before plus they were working on a handheld port too. They were no doubt stretched.

I dont know why u got a disagree, as good as those games are a new fighting game with brand new mechanics is needed.

I mean if you look at it majority of the fighting games we play now are 1990's fighting mechanics.

full install on ps3 is 4,8gb ! ! And the textures are terrible.so dissapointed.Ive gotten every tekken since the 1st.and every game has been a massive leap in gfx.and when crossing console gens its been huge! Tekken1,2,3 ,just look what a big leap gfx wise they are on the same console.then tekken tag ! !wow..a ps2 launch show case.it looked beautiful.Tekken 6 has a space limit.clearly,judging by how terrible compressed everything looks,it looks slightly better than Tekken 5 Dark Ressurection...sad. I have a 360 and a ps3,but Im a huge tekken fan and them fucking it up because of space is sad.atleast,get better ways to compress the damn game,Harada! i mean,surely Rockstar got GTA4 and Red Dead to fit on Dvd. bioware got Mass Effect 1 (which felt bigger because of planet exploration and the mako than ME2) to fit on dvd.just fix it.and dont fuck up the tekken franchise!

It was dissapointing because it was delayed 2 Fckn years to Downgrade into a multiplatform.
Why is it that tekken5 which you can download on PSN has a better Online latency?
Why is it that tekken 5 has polish & tekken 6 has Jaggies Galore?

Tekken 6 is sweet in motion & still my primary fighter but looking at the difference & how long I waited makes me want to slash microsofts throat.

Tekken 5: DRO in no way has/had a better online component than Tekken 6: BR. The net code in 5 was so bad and horribly done. From random lag days with people you regularly played with to an increased lag in odd numbered rooms, it was terrible. Not to mention you could play someone online who lived three blocks from you and have a terrible connection. Perhaps you played BR before its patch that updated the net code shortly after the game's release. It's not perfect, but BR is worlds better than what DRO was.

Cuz the videos are in HD,each characters ending FMV is under a minute ! ! Top that off with how the winning moves after each round is soo cut,animations dont complete.space is an issue across the board.. And the saddest thing is it sold better on ps3.Namco,stop being assholes and keep ip's on ps3 that were born on the sony brand.another being ace combat.I got Fires Of Liberation on 360,but you havnt showed any AC love to the ps3.just 2 psp games.WTF ? ? !

I think they're going to introduce a 4 player mode, basically you and another 3 friends could play a tag battle by with 2 of you controlling 2 characters for each side, both of you could be combining input from both controllers to do a tag special combo move or something like that.

Before it was 1 player controlling 2 characters, but now with the power of the new consoles it could be 2 players controlling 2 characters on each side thus making a making a Tag fight 4 players and not the original 1 vs com or 1 vs 1.

Not sure if i'm following you right but i believe in Tekken Tag you could have 4 players and when you switched out someone else would come in. Haven't played in years so i might be thinking of another game but im pretty sure you could do this on TekkenTag.

For me the series declined after TTT on PS2. Tekken 3 remains the best, but TTT offered the last signs of innovations from the series. After that the series was all about roster changes. The storyline just got blander and became less important. The moves just got copy and pasted from old to new fighters. They need to relaunch this series/
