Tips for a Midnight Release

Agreed. All the midnight releases I've gone to (which isn't many) just ended up being me waiting in line longer than I play the game before I pass out.

I've only ever been to one midnight launch: Halo 2. It had the skankiest excuses for gamer babes I've ever seen. Free coke, though!

I love midnight releases. Doesn't matter if it's a movie, book, or video game. You can count me in.

I went to the midnight launch of the MGS4 80gb PS3 because I wanted that thing bad. I got the last copy my Walmart had and it was a few months before I saw another in the area. Totally worth it.

Don't go? I have never been to a midnight release, I sleep at midnight. I also don't wait in line for video games so that kind of rules out the midnight release for me.

Some games are worth it to me to get at midnight. As in, L4D2. Got that at midnight, had all the campaigns beat by 8am that morning with my pals.

But, now since I work at Gamestop, I have to be there for some of the most pointless midnight releases, where just 1 to 15 people show up. The last realllly good one was MW2 where everyone was there, and that was pretty fun.

midnight releases in my area. I usually pay the game off completely before the actual release date, so I can swing by at like quarter to midnight and scoop up my copy. GameStop has gotten a lot better at doing midnight releases over the years by making people come in and pay for it early then getting back in line. That way, they are basically just handing the game out to people that already have their receipts ready. The only times I really had to wait a while were for MGS4 and GTAIV, but that's just because there were SO many people at those. When Halo 3 came out, my roommate at the time began lining up outside of GameStop at 7pm and the line was actually more than a block long. I don't think I'll ever be THAT excited for a game, but he did stay up and be the campaign in one sitting immediately. lol.

take the day off the after the release day and just go down after the massess have their game. There is ZERO game out or coming out that warrants anyone standing in line for 1+ hours to get it.

When they say don't go, they are assuming you are going to be waiting for hours.

I am usually up till 3 every night, and I have a gamestop that is not even a mile a way from where I live.

So when a game comes out that I plan on buying day one, I am defiantly going to get it at midnight. I roll over there at about 11:45. Sure there might be some people in front of me, but the way gamestop does their midnight releases, it doesn't really matter, because even with 100+ people there, they clear it out in about 10 minutes.

So yea, if I am up anyways, whats the problem with me wasting 20 minutes of my time to go get the game?
