Winners of the 13th Annual Interactive Achievement Awards announced; best games of 2009 recognized

The Academy of Interactive Arts and Sciences (AIAS) held the 13th Annual Interactive Achievement Awards (IAA) show on February 18, 2010. The 13th Annual IAA recognizes the best games of 2009, as well as lifetime industry pioneers.

Uncharted 2: Among Thieves swept many awards including Game of the Year. Brutal Legend was distinguished for its strategy gameplay elements and Soundtrack. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 was recognized for its online play and action. Scribblenauts swept the portable game awards categories, as well as Outstanding Innovation in Gaming. Batman: Arkham Asylum received a fair share of awards as well, including Outstanding Achievement in Game Design.

Was it the "Worst Experience Ever" award? Not trying to be an elitist, but I don't understand how anybody can be okay with this botch of an online "experience", especially giving it special recognition for the whole of 2009.

Anyways, UC2 sweeps the major awards yet again which (almost) makes up for COD getting recognition for its multiplayer.

Yeah, MW2 shouldn't receive anything positive for its multiplayer. Maybe it can be nominated next year, if the $60 public beta is finished.

AIAS has a really good track record for their overall winners though. I agree with pretty much all of them.

U2:AT has dominated all of the 2009 competition. Yet Again

10 awards plus GotY. I mean Wow!

Great game and Great MP, i cant wait for next weeks DLC.

If you haven't played it yet go buy a ps3 or borrow one, as a gamer you need to experience this game.

not that I care that much since I'm not a fan of fps games but I'm wondering about something.Why is there so much hate for MW2 in this site? the game got good reviews and awards yet people bash it here.either you people are exaggerating things (and I have seen maaaaaaany things like that here) or there are actually reasonable reasons (and its probably because the first game was better or so I heard).so what is it? ;)

I loled hard! Demons Soul's brought a more innovative and solid online than MW2 last year. it should've gotten that award.

the outstanding online award should have been given to Demon's Souls for pure innovation. DragonAge obviously deserves the Best RPG award but i would have voted for DS, it was much more unique and memorable for me.

mw2 wouldn't have won anything had UC2 been classified under both Action and Adventure categories :/

Ten awards for Uncharted 2!! Naught Dog really outdid themselves with this game. Every single category more than merits every single award. In my opinion, no game even came close to what Naughty Dog achieved with Uncharted 2. This game will definitely go down in the history books, standing with such titans as Half Life 2, Final Fantasy VIII, and Metal Gear Solid. Undoubtedly one of the finest games of all time.

I agree. I played and finished Brutal Legend. While it was enjoyable and had some redeeming qualities, I would not have awarded it anything for strategy. I think that Art Direction was the best part of Brutal Legend for capturing the essence of old school rock.

Wow good for Uncharted 2 it deserves all the awards it got for it was 2009 Game of The Year. Congrats to Sony, Naughtydog, and everyone else that help make this game so epic. Also congrats to all the other winners for each of them also deserve credit.

Congrats to Sony & Naughty Dog. Uncharted 2 deserves all the praise, the Single Player was epic, and the Multiplayer is excellent as well. I'm still enjoying the online, as Naughty Dog continues to give back with great DLC. Hit me up online!!! PSN ID: traylor4
