EverQuest, essentially the pioneer in massively multiplayer role-playing games, is set to celebrate its 10th anniversary on March 16th. In honor of the occasion, GamerNode's Eddie Inzauto visited Sony Online Entertainment Headquarters in San Diego, CA to discuss the franchise's history, future, and more with EverQuest Senior Procucer Clint Worley and Lead Designer Ryan Barker.

In the “Producer’s Letter April 2023,” the team behind the MMORPG said the new UI Engine for the game releases in April, more Tempest Festival content is arriving in May, and Pride Month familiars are returning come June.
Ah, EverQuest. In-depth interviews for the win, tbh. I find I get a lot more out of them than the short, cut-to-shreds edited versions which read like an advert for the game they're discussing. Good job!
It's pretty amazing for a game to run consistently for 10 years. The challenges are far greater than for any other type of game, it seems.
What's amusing to me is that after 10 years Everquest has like 100K subscribers lol. And after 6 months Warhammer Online has only 300K.
I'm shocked Everquest is still around, let alone the fact they have 100k subscribers. They are certainly doing something right, but I wonder how many subscribers are just loyalists, people who have put in so much time that venturing into any other MMO is preposterous. Certainly their growth rate must be incredibly slow. For a publisher to be ok with that is very interesting.
Am I the only person who feels extremely old knowing that EQ has been running for 10 years now?
