DANGER: EA takes first steps to Market Crash

The dominance of the Wii combined with the ecomomic crisis has seen EA close up shop and focus their attention on Nintendo's console. Gameplayer argues that this is the first steps towards a predicted Games Industry crash.

But it sucks and I don't use it. As such, this news bites, both the decision by EA and where it could lead the industry

Makes sense and sounds like 3rd party games for 360 and PS3 are going to slow down in production. Good thing Sony owns a buttload of studios to keep churning the games out.

" Good thing Sony owns a buttload of studios to keep churning the games out. "

But sony can't provide enough games on their own, they need third party developers as MS and Nintendo need them.

They would need to pump sh/tloads of games.

" But it’s exactly the type of attitude we forecast in last week’s article that could lead the industry on a downwards path that may spiral out of control. What happens if the Wii audience’s notoriously coy third-party buying patterns see EA’s investments fail?"

IF more developers jump ship, you can't think of gamers not wanting a wii then.
Wii will live its life just like the PS2, if developers jump ship.

Honestly, EA should just promote their stuff good and it will sell.
Those Nintendo titles sell simply because they...*drumroll*...have adds on tv.

I'm all for getting the non-gamers gaming using Wii so that gaming isn't seen as the nerd-only past-time it used to be and sometimes still is, but really it isn't what I want to play.

It is somewhat our own fault for not supporting EA's new IPs like Dead Space and Mirror's Edge and just buying Killzones and Gears of Wars all the time.

I totally understand why ALL publishers wouldn't want to go exclusive anymore, like with Mass Effect 2: they simply make more money. If going multi platform is what it takes for Mass Effect 2 to be made, then good enough for me. I don't understand any studio not owned by Sony or MS making exclusives; except for the Wii...

I'm happy at least someone can say this.
I'm annoyed about how CORE GAMERS scream they are the backbone of the industry but you can't really see that.

If core gamers were "really" that hardcore. Allot of games would have reached the 10 million mark( i mean both the PS3 and 360 have an install bas over 20 million gamers). IS it not that they claim they get all the "good" games?

Exclusives are good, but multiplatform are "best", because the stubborn fanboys would never be able to play a game on a system they don't like.
