it will never finish!! the hardware it self is a failure! if they really want to fix it they have to change the hardware completely to a more reliable and expansive hardware and that will take them time and money which MS dont like to spend more money at the end of 360 life cycle!!

the next xbox will come in 2009 or 2010 so whats the point for MS to loose some billions on the 360 just to make it safer?? if they wanted a safer console they would have done it before release!

Introducing Jasper doesn't stop RRoD. Everyone who owns a 360 right now doesn't have the Jasper so therefore RRoD still happens. And when the 360 does break are they for sure getting a Jasper system back? I doubt it. Jasper may red ring too.

He did say he wanted to try something very different from MGS, so moving to first-person seems like a believable change.

Maybe he'll figure out how to keep cutscenes in-game and interactive... sure, that's a very Western way of handling storytelling, but he's got the plot chops to pull off the storytelling so it's time he presents it in a more digestible manner.

I love how the called the RROD rumor confirmed when they themselves say that HOPEFULLY the Jasper chipset fixes the problem. The fact is it most likely won't. This isn't the first new chip set MS has shipped in the 360 and yet the RROD continues to plague people everywhere.

The failure rate will have gone down. I don't think there's any doubt about that really - it's running cooler and a cooler system has a lower chance of failure. That said, of course there will still be a problem. The question is how big - if it's 1% then that's fantastic, the problem is effectively solved. But if it remains even >5% then something still needs to be done.

I've heard the highest estimate figure I ever heard from a likely source was 25% of launch PS2s had the DRE and Sony fixed the issue within a year, how old is the 360 now and still has RRoD issues and DREs?

ive posted it many times the ps2 was JUNK. and eagle the fanboy21 up there wants to act like 360 was the worst hardware created....ps2 lot higher failure rate than any console. look back at ps1, and the "upside down trick" people had to do with those. sony 2 outta 3 unreliable consoles, microsoft 1 outta 2. atleast microsoft like you said man are willing to back it up with a warranty-im sure some ps3's have died how many of those have sony fixed-for free??

how do i know this for sure? well when or if one of my live friends leaves a message about they will be off cause of red ring of death, they're usually back on within 2 weeks-meaning microsoft is fixing a lot less 360's since they're returning them in half the time. just like anything else from the sony fanboys on this site they like to exaggerate EVERYTHING. i got a new 360 2 months ago-its quiet, and runs a lot cooler than the launch models. lot number 815. id say it runs as cool as my 40 gig ps3 did. so ps3 fanboys you need to find NEW ammunition against 360. edit: we also will never know how many 360's rrod because of the owner themselves......

they cant prove either way if the RROD is finished they are only confirming that the newer x boxes contain that different chip, hahaha yer the 360 is beating the PS3 even with the RROD but have you looked at its price in comparison? PS3 is the top end gaming console at a top price, all Microsoft can do to compete is bring theirs in at an entry level price, the famed sub £150 where consoles sell like hotcakes. No one can argue that PS3 gives you more for your money its just most of those extras are not appealing or needed by the majority of the public.

Sony have a very good customer service and when my PS3 broke (one of the less than 2%) I was sent a new one for free and they paid postage in 2 weeks, admittedly it was still under warranty. But why are we looking at the past PS2 may have been faulty at launch but the fact still remains that it is and may stay for sometime longer the most successful console of all time. I'm not saying Microsoft are not doing all they can to make their console more reliable but we are in a new era from PS2 and the general expectations from customers has increased.
p.s the new chips in the 360 will not be costing Microsoft as they themselves are cheaper to manufacture due to the smaller casting die, hence the recent price cut. Microsoft and Sony both are transnational companies with (incomparision) very small gaming divisions with small profits. They are always looking to increase those profits and don't really care about the 5% or so of unsatisfied customers as long as they keep selling their product.

I couldnt give a rats arse about the RROD tbh as it wasnt me who was mug enough to buy a XBOX360 and then send it to be repaired every so often and still kiss MS arses eveytime.
