Xbox at gamescom: Greenberg talks Xbox One X, PUBG exclusivity and togas

Aaron Greenberg: "The Xbox One X will launch with a larger games library than any new console launch in history."

"The Xbox One X will launch with a larger games library than any new console launch in history." -Greenberg

-Ugh, Greenberg, well it's Xbox's first ever mid-gen launch, so the library is already built in= too bad Microsoft could have nailed it with some actual compelling new games for its launch.

"At this point, we’re just saying that we’re publishing it on Xbox" -Greenberg

-In other words it's a timed exclusive...just like I said before, not that Im Nostradamus or anything, just saying because some folks tried to tell me otherwise.

"-In other words it's a timed exclusive...just like I said before, not that Im Nostradamus or anything, just saying because some folks tried to tell me otherwise."

Well many say what's the point of buying an Xbox when you can get all the games on the PC, then they turn around and say PUBG is only timed exclusive. It's pretty clear most of the PC comments are just posturing trying to devalue the Xbox brand.

The problem with Greenberg though is he also acts like the same fanboys running around trying to discredit the Xbox brand with his outlandish statements. We have the best or biggest exclusives or the largest library in any new console history. The double talk and deflection away from Microsoft's actual investment into their own games speaks volumes. I love that they announced Age of Empires IV but that's only on the PC which is fine by me but they really need to invest more than that and build up the Xbox with their own identity, not just Halo and Forza and Gears.

thekhurg2451d ago

Saying you can get it on PC, then clarifying that something is a timed exclusive is not posturing. It's speaking truth and logic.

It's posturing if you have no intentions of playing those games on the PC and just using the PC argument as bait.

Allsystemgamer2450d ago

I'm still waiting for a counter to the "just build a pc" argument. It's cheaper over time, you get better performance, unlimited upgrade potential that is completely up to the user, you can do more than just game and watch movies, multi screen support, no online fees, cheaper game releases, massive library including BC back to the 90s etc

The Xbox is literally the opposite of that. So why buy an Xbox and limit yourself? Just spend an extra $200 and get a machine far more capable.

But that's $200 more than an Xbox!

Yea but when you buy that Xbox you, presumably will be buying a game. That's $60. Then there is online. $60. Then perhaps you need a new controller. $60.

And if you're going to say you need to buy a monitor for the pc...well. You need that 4k tv to take full advantage of the one X.

So again. Why would I buy an Xbox when the pc ends up cheaper, more versatile and upgradable?

Go ahead, nobody is stopping you. I find it a bit of a stretch to builld a comparable PC for $700 though but I am happy to see more people invest in PC's for gaming. The more money out of the pocket for consoles the better. Trouble is most of those who say they can build a PC hardly ever do which means the argument is getting old. Some people just prefer console gaming, which explains why so many third party titles sell so well on consoles and not the PC.

My guess is early 2018 for PS4. No way they dont release it for PS4. Its a great game, its all I have been playing for about a month and half that I've had it.

thekhurg2451d ago

Once it's out of the early access paid beta testing, it'll release on PS4.

this guy is a genuine douche, there must be a part of him that cringes when his mouth moves.

gamer78042450d ago

He has a job to do, it's business , just using specific phrasing to put his product in the best light possible, I'm not sure why you expect something different. Not like this is eurogamer

xX-oldboy-Xx2450d ago

The way you approach a job and execute said job says a lot about someone. He's a ham fisted buffoon, extremely classless individual.

*sigh* the Greenberg mouth troll continues to vomit skewed perceptions of reality.

Xbox No Longer Has Its Head In The Game

Microsoft & Xbox have shut down Arkane Austin and Tango Gameworks to lay off more workers, insinuating that they're not in the game anymore.

XiNatsuDragnel21h ago

They're headless for a long time because closing tango isn't exactly a good move

Especially for Microsoft, when Booty pretty much said they didn't know how to handle that many studios.

Why even make the acquisition then.

-Foxtrot15h ago

Didn’t they make the swipe for Bethesda when Sony wanted like 6 months exclusiveness for Starfield

It’s like…chill, you got Rise of the Tomb Raider for a year.

romulus2315h ago

Do they always come with senseless cuts becasue that's exactly what cutting Tango was, senseless.

H917h ago

Everyone's acting now that game companies care about games and Xbox is committing the Ultimate betrayal, they are all like this and you have just been quiet about it for far too long

Nuclearmoon16h ago

I wonder if Microsoft do pull out of the console market that it might open the door for valve to relaunch the Steambox. Competition is good for the industry but Microsoft don't even seem to be trying anymore.

UltimateOwnage12h ago

Steam / Valve are one of the few truly pro-consumer bright spots in gaming right now. Thankfully.

Former Dragon Age lead writer David Gaider pours scorn on EA's AI dreams.

"They want you to believe the devs under them are super stoked to work generative AI into their processes," continued Gaider, "but I assure you what they took as excitement was really a veiled wail of despair not unlike the time that team was informed of their new 'really cool' live service mandate.".

I think anyone with some common sense knew this, im glad i don't support their games anymore, what a sh!t company.

I said this yesterday. AI isn't what we want when it comes to crafting artistry. Alas, these soulless corporate morons don't care about their work, only about cutting corners as much as possible.
