2016 was the year that Japanese games struck back

Eurogamer: And while Tokyo's second hand video game store shelves may sit barren, plundered by so many Western visitors in search of a lost treasure, in 2016 there are more opportunities to play Japanese classics than ever before.

2016 was definitly a Japanese gaming breath of fresh air!

Overload2679d ago (Edited 2679d ago )

Bayonetta 2 and Bloodborne are 2 of the best games of this generation and in my opinion 2014's and 2015's GOTY. People just don't give Japanese developers the credit they deserve.

2017 looks to be a great year for Japanese developers again. Hopefully people start taking notice this year.

UCForce2679d ago

Yup, it's time for Japanese Games to shine.

OB1Biker2679d ago (Edited 2679d ago )

I agree. I think people and the media just see what they want to see.
edit: also I find the title weak click bait tbh
Why do they have to always try silly titles?

2017 is gonna be bigger with titles like Nier 2, Ni-Oh, Dragon Quest XI, Kingdom Hearts 2.8, Ni No Kuni 2, Gravity Rush 2, Persona 5, Tales of Berseria, Valkyrie Revolution etc etc...

2017 is going to be amazing.

UCForce2678d ago

Yup. 2017 is going to get better.

And the year that it's clear Japanese developers have problems with the in game cameras

Star Ocean: Integrity and Faithlessness
Final Fantasy XV
The Last Guardian

Japanese games have always had problems with in game cameras. Either swinging around wildly at odd angles with objects in the world blocking your view or the Nintendo method where the camera is 6 inches up your ass and you can't see where you're going. Hopefully they'll sort it out eventually. They've had 20+ years after all.

Haven't we had amazing Japanese games in the year prior to this one

Gamist2dot02678d ago

They sure did. I've never seen so many articles on Japanese games releasing in long time. And 2017 will only get better.

Next year will be even better for Japanese games.

Choohe is locked behind another planet forcing players to liberate 2 planets and the reward for Penta is a weapon, not another stratagem so it makes sense.

If the weapon were on Choohe, that would be liberated.

Xbox Reportedly Working to Release Next Fallout Game "Sooner Rather Than Later"

According to a new report, Xbox knows the next Fallout game has to release sooner rather than later and is working on it. Following the release of Starfield, Bethesda Game Studios is now working on The Elder Scrolls 6. And this is what it's going to be doing for the next several years. This means the next Fallout game is probably not going to be out until the 2030s unless something changes. To this end, Xbox knows it has to change something and get something out sooner.

Just bring the quality and hopefully some gameplay refinements.

Like build a new engine if you make me have a 45 second load to enter a building and exit a building on 9th gen hardware to your game is just taking the piss it's absolutely down to the engine and not the hardware it should have been possible to eliminate this load on the PS4 Xbox one but they failed to while other games like witcher 3 and GTA v had no problems with this.

Like all Bethesda games they really need to also address the ultra stiff character animation the dialogue scenes are not great and even in starfield they were substandard compared to other games look at how character interactions are done elsewhere it's far more engaging when you are not standing still talking

This is a problem....let the games be. Maybe try to get something out by the time next season rolls around. You've got time. If the fallout show continues like this then it'll be fine to wait and invest in a good game.
