With this current gen drawing unceremoniously to a close Ruaidhri looks back at some of the unsung heroes that have been and gone over the past few years.
Well said, really loved that game, the voice recognition for guiding your team members was neat too.
yes and yes and another yes i thought the first two missions were lame and didn't like it at first but after that the game start to get much better in both story and gameplay and ended up pretty great game and i would like to add heavenly sword and lord of shadows too
Brink was sh#t I played it for a week and nothing could ever make me feel otherwise. Level design was poor, variety was noexistent, weapon and shooting mechanics were below average. I felt like I was playing a PS2 game.
Brink was one of the two biggest letdowns of the generation to me. Dead Island was the other, mainly because it was the buggiest game I've ever played in my life.
Yep I lost a lvl 30 character in Dead Island in co-op corrupted entire save. I never want to see it again.
Barbie Horse Rider needs to be on that list... hidden gem I tells ya.
MS Pacific Rift was the most underrated racer this gen.
I still play it every now and then!
too bad the online servers are gone. :(
when I saw the thumbnail I thought it was nariko heavenly sword that game was underrated as well.
alice: madness returns. that game was amazing!
Prince of Persia 2008 and the darkness game are heavily underated
Agreed. Two of my favorites from this generation.
the first three POP was pretty damn epic ps2 games and my favorite POP was the 2nd game because i loved Dahaka http://images2.wikia.nocook... that creepy freak coming after me in the game was pretty tense but i was not a fan of POP 2008 the gameplay was fun but the story didn't interest me
That's some nice additions. The original Darkness game has become one of my favorite games of all time cause it has such a deep and intense atmosphere. I really hope for The Darkness 3.
Darkness 1, Shadows of the damned, Tomb Raider: Underworld, 2009's Wolfenstein, Call of Jurarez: Bound In Blood, Heavenly Sword, Dead to Rights: Retribution, Sleeping Dogs, FEAR 2, Chronicles of Riddick: Assault on Dark Athena, Dark Sector, Condemned 2, oh, and Alice: Madness Returns...Off the top of my head.
Great list. Definitely some hidden gems in there. Btw...is that avatar from House on Haunted Hill?
It's Edgar(the Bug) from the first Men in Black.
Haha. Oh my gosh. How did I not get that?!? It's a shame Vincent D'Onofrio doesn't do more comedic stuff. He was hilarious in that movie!
I agree with all but Brink. Horrible game. Saboteur was brilliant. Did the marketing fail or what? It was one of my favorites! Enslaved is a wonderful story and it is so brilliantly told. I don't understand complaints about the gameplay. It works well and they add a new mechanic every half an hour. It stays fresh, throughout. WWE All-Stars is a gem. I don't even like wrestling, but this is pure arcade fun. I can't recommend it highly enough to gamers who are looking for a great party game. Kane & Lynch had top-notch presentation, but suffered from many issues. Still, it's a great series I'd love to see return at some point. (Max Payne 3 did outclass it in every way, but still.)
WWE All-stars was pretty great i had alot of fun with it
I just recently bought Enslaved an really enjoyed it. The only problem I had with it was the framerate dropped really low on the PS3 version at some points. Other than that it was an excellent game.
That's true. Sometimes, the frame rate is horrible. It was 30 fps max and dipped much lower during the heavier fighting sequences. I'm glad they got DMC at a steady 30 FPS. It was a pretty stable game. Loved it.
I played both Enslaved: Odyssey to the West and Majin and the Forsaken Kingdom almost back to back and while both are very underrated gems I actually preferred Majin, it had a real Dark Cloud vibe to it and was a very enjoyable game, so I would add it to the list as well.
Nier was my most underated game also one of my favourites
I agree,i loved everything in this game, especially the music
Great call on this one, loved this game!
The Saboteur is awesome.
wanted weapons of fate, it was short but very efective third person shooter and the bullet bending stuff was very fun
Killzone 2 IMO deserves to be in there. All I hear is people trash killzone and say its generic this and generic that but lz2 brought tons of new things to console shooters this gen and really haven't got recognized for it. - dynamic maps (2009! suck it cod ghosts!) - dynamic changing game mode - custom lobbies to a new level - heavy weighty feel - clan system that allowed you to host own tournaments and wager a form of currency (valor) - 20 shooting variables - intertwined class play - one of first and only games u can play background music - spawn grenades ( innovative) Kz2 platinum record holder ----------->
Out of the two I've played that are mentioned in the list (Enslaved and Brink), I'm actually surprised they even received their average scores.
all 5 besides enslaved were garbage games
You are garbage.
SABOTEUR SO TRUE.
Tenchu Z. Boo me all you want but it had the best controls for a Tenchu game. Best graphics(thats a given) and the levels returns to the sprawling open areas of the first game rather than the linear ones of the PS2/Xbox era games. Not a AAA title by any means, the series has never got the polish it deserves but for Tenchu fans you shouldnt have missed it.
Castlevania: Lords of Shadow, Alan Wake, Bioshock 2 and Resistance 3 are underrated gems, all incredible games.
The Saboteur was such a gem. i recommend it to anyone who likes open world shooters. its like a mix of 1940's nazi occupied Europe version of Grand Theft Auto with Assassins Creed climbing mechanics, just a little less fluid. fantastic game though. i had to buy it twice. mad cheap now. probably 10 bux used
Nier, Heavenly Sword, Folklore, NBA Street Homecourt, Final Fantasy Dissidia & Naruto Ultimate Ninja Storm (the 1st one) for me.
