Mad Max preview: Bringing Just Cause's insanity to the wilds | EuroGamer

EuroGamer: "Commandeering vehicles is nothing new in open world games. Heck, the genre was in many ways founded by a game called Grand Theft Auto, so getting behind the wheel to zip around an extended map is the oldest trick in the book. And yet it's hard to form much of an attachment to a particular vehicle when everything with a gas pedal is for the taking. In Just Cause 2 developer Avalanche's upcoming Mad Max game you'll be able to drive more than 50 vehicles over the course of its open-world adventure, but you'll only become intimately familiar with one: the Magnum Opus."

Man.. I want to see some gameplay already.

So exited :)

I'm intrigued to see more. I wish they would give the people who are going to actually buy these games access to the 'behind closed doors' demos.

They had better get this right! Mad Max is a legendary franchise, they'd better give it the love it deserves. I'm glad it is still set in Australia, absolutely perfect setting (I was worried they may re-locate it to America the way Hollywood does with many British film remakes).

Nice to see old classic 70's/80's films turned into games. Has anybody made a West World game yet? Or Jaws would be awesome. Maybe even Logan's Run. A real rich vein of ideas in films of the era. Far more varied and experimental than the homogenized garbage they spew out nowadays.

If they pull this off, I'd love to see a Punisher game.

6 Games That Genuinely Deserve A Current-Gen Upgrade

Games such as Mad Max, Red Dead Redemption 2, and Batman: Arkham Knight desperately deserve a modern-day revisit.

thorstein8d ago

Mad Max is underrated. Such a fun game.

Cacabunga8d ago (Edited 8d ago )

RDR2 still looks astounding on PS4 Pro. i cannot imagine how it could look with a next gen upgrade.

JonTheGod7d ago (Edited 7d ago )

Probably not very different.

No idea why this article is highlighting recent beautiful graphically-advanced games and saying they need current gen makeovers. They already look better than most new releases; just compare Arkham Knight and Suicide Squad!

Yi-Long7d ago

It's obviously never gonna happen since Sony killed the game and studio, but Driveclub. Even in its current state, 10 years after release, it still puts many competitors to shame ...

Demetrius7d ago

I'm not into racing games but yeah I even looked at gameplay of that sometimes

Demetrius7d ago

Mad max ikr! Far cry primal, it amuses me how ubisoft just left ac unity hanging, sadly most of the good staff left from rocksteady while being forced to make that abomination smh

I had a blast with a Bugs Bunny game on PS1 as a kid. It is probably trash now but at the time, it was awesome.

"50 Cent: Blood in the sand"

Ps3 scored 6/10 all round loads of review sites but was so much fun while not a technical masterpiece in any way has a worthwhile engaging story and script and of course an unbeatable soundtrack.

Honorable mention to Drive Clubs Ferrari Fxx-K. Should be there over Horizon.

The Suzuki Escudo Pikes Peak from the Gran Turismo series

Nissan Skyline from Need for Speed Underground

Motorcycle Steamroller from Dead Rising 3

And finally a car you never drive but saves your ass over and over : Honey Badger from COD MW2

I was thinking of Mad Max. That V8 felt really good to drive around in, especially with upgrades.

No one liked the Batmobile in Arkham Knight. Top 10?

toxic-inferno466d ago

I don't know... It was a strange addition to the game, and the parts of the game where you had to fight in it were tedious. But driving it around Gotham felt brilliant.
