There's no argument that many games rival big-budget movies now in terms of production, and just like the movies, they know that you've got to use a little sizzle to sell the steak. The art of the game trailer has progressed in ways we never could have imagined, and today we celebrate the best of the best.

Definately agree. I was so mindblown when i saw this trailer, i couldn`t believe what i was seeing.

The extremely detalied graphics, insane weather effects and environment with the potathos rolling out as the guards was shooting at Snake, was just unseen at that point and set a new standard for games to come.

I can`t think of any game i`ve been more excited about than MGS2 after i saw that trailer.

I think the first footage of Half life 2 and the Killzone 2 E3 2005 video also was insanely good.

Hope they can get the same intensity in Killzone Shadow Fall with all of the action and shouts that was in that video :)

Agree with you guys concerning MGS2.

And that is that "wow factor" factor that was missing with the games shown at the PS4 reveal (I say PS4 because we havent seen the 720 yet).

I wish next gen can make my jaw drop like the MGS2 trailer did. I mean you could completely feel that you were in an advanced gen.

Dead island yes but when games are so disconnected from trailer which are so emotionally filling to game which is a lot of fun but extremely generic story wise

The Mass Effect 2 "fight for the lost" trailer was excellent. And Gears of War Mad World. And also, by the way, the Old Republic trailer is perhaps the best thing to exist in the entirety of mankind's history. Except for twizzlers.

a trailer is something that showcases the game for the first time. Imagine a movie trailer, if you will. An advertisement is more like a commercial you would see on TV.

Both of them advertise something. I was wrong, a trailer is a form of an advertisement. But the video you showed us was a TV commercial. That commercial doesn't fit in the category of trailers. TV Spots are...Ok enough of me being stupid! Advertisements, Tv Spots, trailers, Commercial, and Promotions are all words with generally the same meaning! XP

I remember the Dead Island one was so awesome but the game turn out repetitive real fast and the graphic not a good as the trailer if you din't already notice which i doubt and don't get me started on the glitches.

really? I found it rather dull. I mean to each his own, but for me trailer for 3 is massively epic. i mean quiet music intro to crow eating eyeball to Kratos whooping a bunch of ass and then catching a ride on a harpy.

I agree, the Epic Scale trailer for God of War III is amazing. I liked the God of War: Ascension live action trailer too but that felt more like a movie trailer which didn't increase hype for the game for me nearly as much as God of War III's trailer did.

Seeing a live-action fight between Kratos, Nathan Drake, Cole McGrath, and Sackboy was like eating a giant bowl of awesomesauce.

I really liked the Assassin's creed Revelations trailer aswell. And the Metro: Last light trailer. And the The last of Us gameplay trailer. And the GoW:A "Evil ways" multiplayer trailer... Omg too many trailers!! >:b

I don't mean to disrespect anyone who liked the CGI Dead Island trailer, but I thought it was overrated to the highest extent.

I knew the first moment I saw the trailer that it was misleading, and the game would be nothing like it. The emotions, the tragedy, the good acting, they were all missing in the actual game. Trailers should represent the games faithfully, or else it's just playing with gamers' expectations, which is not a good thing. For that reason alone I would never ever put it in a list like that, just to boycott the notion that gamers are just like eleven year olds who can be tricked easily with an eye-candy trailer. I myself am not buying it. They just need to show their game for what it is, and nothing else.

Instead of Dead Island trailer, however, I'd put Metal Gear Solid V Phantom pain trailer to the list. Not the reveal trailer but the debut trailer that we were shown at the VGAs.

It was such an interesting and creative trailer that I'm still loving the hell out of it. Snake with no arm, soldiers raiding a hospital and killing patients for no apparent reason, a guy with gas mask floating in the air, flaming soldiers who ride unicorns haunting you, and a huge whale robot eating a helicopter that's about to shoot us at first sight... Dayum, isn't that some trip.

I wish games would look somewhat close to what the trailers look like. I was super hyped to see what StarWars the old republic would look like after I saw some trailers and it was quite disappointing. But all games do that crap all the time. Show cut scenes and CGI and then you spend your hard earned money on it and it really looks kinda crappy sometimes.
