Play vs. Stream: The Modern Gaming Console

Game consoles aren’t just for gaming anymore. In fact, seventh-generation game consoles (e.g., PS3, Wii, Xbox 360) continue to gain traction as devices for watching video as well. For the third year in a row, Americans in 2012 spent more of their overall console time streaming video. According to recent data from Nielsen, the use of video-on-demand (VOD) and streaming services accounted for 22 percent of users’ overall time on these systems last year, up from 19 percent in 2011 and 13 percent in 2010.

Surprised this article didn't catch on and blow up.

Everybody - well, almost everybody - comes off with some positives from this. The Xbox 360 is the king of online gaming while PS3 takes off line. Probably because there are more SP games on the PS3.

I am guessing because of the " professional " headline, if it was titled " Nielsen: gaming takes back seat on PS3, Xbox wins ", it would have been a completely different outcome lol

Actually I was about to submit this story until I saw yours. Looks like it wouldn't have mattered. People just don't seem to care that much.
