The Top 10 Best RPG Party Members Ever

Leviathyn.com | As any genre stalwart knows, an RPG is only as good as the characters you grind through it with. Would anybody really have slogged through Final Fantasy XIII without Lightning? But just being an awesome protagonist doesn’t get you onto this list, you have to provide the gameplay chops to hang with these heavy hitters. Some of them are off the wall, heck some of them even suck as a character, but they all are a force to be reckoned with on the battlefield, and that should count for something!

I'd have put Auron higher based on intro and back story, certainly higher than 'fighter", but still a good list.

Ignoring why you chose her - boobs - you do know that she's totally devoted to Cloud right?

The girl dropped what she happened to be doing at the time - which happened to be trying to save the word - to be by his side while he was in a coma.

She also accepted that he was into another girl who died.

You don't like Tifa. We get it.

Godmars2904136d ago (Edited 4136d ago )

Didn't say I didn't like her. Just the opposite in fact.

Did think she gets a raw deal in how she's presented. Childhood friend with unrequited love. Gets the only real fight scene not featuring Cloud in AC only to have the guy literally brush off her attack then pwn her.

Not really a fan of Japanese chauvinism and traditional plot tropes in my old age.

And yeah, first time I noticed her was because of the boobs :p

Final Fantasy IV Pixel Remaster Review – An Epic Tale Of Pixelated Portrayals

Gary Green said: We’re finding ourselves in a similar position with the Pixel Remaster edition of Final Fantasy IV as we were with Final Fantasy III since, once again, we’ve received a slightly upscaled, more vibrant port of the original game when there’s already an expanded 3D remake available. As such, we’re playing a game which, even after its long-awaited release, still lives very much in the shadow of its remake.

If only they didn't screw ps4 owners over with a physical release. I'd have ran through this in a heartbeat.

The first one I played, it was the one that made me fall in love with JRPGs and is still my favorite to this day. A masterpiece

"I started playing games yesterday" the List... Meh!

How about a few RPGs that deserve some love instead?
1 - Alpha Protocol - Now on GOG
2 - else Heart.Break()
3 - Shadowrun Trilogy
4 - Wasteland 2
5 - UnderRail
6 - Tyranny
7 - Torment: Tides of Numenera

And for a bonus game that flew under the radar:
8 - Banishers: Ghosts of New Eden

Loved Alpha Protocol in all it's glorious jank. Great game.

SimpleSlave20d ago (Edited 20d ago )

Not only glorious jank, but the idea that the story can completely change depending on what you do, or say, or side with, makes it one of the most forward thinking games ever. The amount of story permutation is the equivalent of a Hitman level but in Story Form. And it wasn't just that the story changed, no, it was that you met completely new characters, or missed them, depending on your choices. Made Mass Effect feel static in comparison.

Alpha Protocol was absolutely glorious, indeed. And it was, and still is, more Next Gen than most anything out there these days. In this regard at least.

Pity.

FFVI is a timeless classic, surely one of the best games ever created.

_Decadent_Descent23d ago

I really do wish they'd give it the FF7R treatment.

phoenixwing23d ago

Ff6 is probably the most deserving for that

Cacabunga23d ago

Octopath traveller or Star Ocean remake treatment would fit it better i think

FinalFantasyFanatic23d ago

I'd rather it play more or less the same by have the 3D chibi graphics from Ever Crisis, I don't want them to change the story like they did with FF7R.
