DX11.1 not exclusive to Windows 8 after all, Microsoft adds DX11.1 features to Windows 7

DSOGaming writes: "Good news for Windows 7 users, as it seems that Microsoft has – somewhat – backed off and will add various DX11.1 features to your beloved OS." (Dev, DirectX, Microsoft, PC, Tech, Windows 8)

Good news then. Curious to see what will happen with DX12

Nothing at all, developers are still stuck with DX9. Thank the consoles for holding tech back

Next consoles will be stuck at DX 11. Then we will be waiting a further 7-8 years before the next consoles, by which time DX 13-14 might be out, anything in between will probably be ignored by the devs.

Stop spewing rubbish. Consoles aren't holding tech back lol. Last I checked tech is evolving.

Here's the deal...

As long as you PC gamers pirate games, you'll always get the short end of the stick(if you're lucky to get anything at all). Consoles are most profitable, thus major focus is on consoles. What's really "holding tech back" are you PC gamers with your pirating tendencies.

Warcraft has been using dx11 for some time now and Im pretty sure a pc only game isn't affected by console gaming.

I see wut yur saying with multiplatform gaming, just slapping in dx9 to make it work everywhere, but that isn't the case for everything.

another reason to ignore win8

Why ignore it? It's a pretty good OS from what I've seen. Bridges the gap between desktops/laptops and tablets.

You don't even have to buy it. There are ways to get this free my friend :D

I quite like W8, I've played with a MS surface and it works well with a touch screen. But I'm in no rush to upgrade my desktop OS, so to see them include .1 support is good news.

I need to replace my kitchen laptop. I will end up getting a touchscreen with W8. I am hesitant to update my main desktop still. Would like others to push the patch work. Plus no plans for a touchscreen on my gaming desktop.

Good news for MS...

Otherwise it would have been left to rot like DX10....
