Zynga founder Mark Pincus has said at a Garage Geeks event in Tel Aviv that he is currently bored with all games. He then stressed that he wants to experience the same level of addiction he felt with FarmVille.
As of right now, there are no monopolies in the games industry, and for the sake of the medium as a whole, they never should either.
And yet the biggest tech companies in America are essentially that. They buy up all the small comps only to kill them off and steal what they have, and if they can't buy em they bleed them to death.
They buy IPs not talent. That's why these buyouts never work and the IPs die. Right now it's too expensive to develop games - but I expect that to shift maybe as AI tools can make it easier. The best games have been indie games for awhile as big developers fuck their ips to death with "games as a service" -

"The best games of the year and the creative teams behind them were in the spotlight at the grand award ceremony of the German Computer Game Award 2024." - German Computer Game Awards.
"im bored of boring games, i want there to be another boring game"...
...is litterally all i got out of this.
Zynga founder, im bored of your zynga games, nothing else.
He must be playing only Zynga "games".
LOL
"Back in August, new Zynga CEO Don Mattrick announced the departure of three executives, as part of a reshuffle that hopes to stabilise the company following dropping player numbers, profits and the culling of games on the slate."
It's pretty obvious your own DAU are bored with your games too Mr. Pincus.
Edit:
"new Zynga CEO Don Mattrick announced the departure of three executives..."
I wonder how much those execs got paid out to leave? Zynga is the one stop shop to go too and collect bonuses as you try and fins another executive position somewhere in the industry. get your stocks, cash out and bounce.
I give it one year before Mattrick does the same. He'll add nothing to the company, throw CEO of Zynga on his resume and then move on to EA or Activision.
just you watch...
