Naughty Dog Explains Why Subhuman Characters Aren’t Called Zombies, Defend Cinematic Games

It’s hardly surprising that a lot of people wondered why the subhuman characters in the The Last of Us weren’t just called zombies.

I can't for the life of me understand why Naughty Dog need to go into detail about subhuman characters?

These filthy creatures are the ones who support Microshaft and the $h!tb0x.

hellzsupernova3946d ago

Naughty dog need to explain nothing they make only superb games the last of us is a great achievement in gaming the story, the gameplay, the visuals, it is so good.

Don't change naughty dog!

CrimsonStar3946d ago

Wow your comment is just wow . How can some one type such a rash , mean , and just plain weird thing like that .

DerekFlint0073946d ago

Crimson let me explain. Firstly my sincere apologies for posting utter drivel. It was supposed to be a joke about linking sub human characters being the people who would buy an Xbox One. It was a stupid thing to post and didn't come out as intended.

It had nothing whatsoever to do with naughty Dog, who i consider stellar developers, and among the very elite in the business. My platinums on the Unchartered series and soon to be platinumed 'Last of us' (just completed survivor +) are testament to this.

I guess the moral of the story is don't post anything when you are steaming drunk. I had been celebrating the British & Irish Lions win over Australia, and then ended up at a function with free drink all day.

You're the reason we can't have nice things.

CrimsonStar3945d ago

Lol ok it just came off in really bad taste . Thanks for explanation.

Why the need to insert 'defend' into that title?

FantasyStar3946d ago (Edited 3946d ago )

You'd be surprised how many people confuse Naughty Dog games for movies. That PS commercial for Uncharted 2 is very spot on.

elmaton983946d ago

Damn right and besides, the last truly felt like a movie and that made me enjoy it better than other games that feel like...uh.. well "games"

MikeyDucati13946d ago

You know, there's just too many young kids messing up the industry. Truthfully. Them little snots fuss and complain about the trivial. WHO CARES?? It's a shame Naughty Dog gotta explain something that should either be understood by playing the game or should have been taught in science class.

I'm afraid for the future.

Tony-Red-Grave3946d ago

You know once upon a time you were young too. Everything you said about this generation, and this will say about the next, was said by the previous. Yet I bet you hail "your generation" as the "best".

smh I fear growing old enough to forget I was ever young.

aLucidMind3946d ago (Edited 3946d ago )

He does have a point though, when you get past his insinuation of "my generation is smarter than the up-and-coming one". It is pretty obvious that the enemies in the game are not zombies, not in the traditional sense anyway, and anyone with any critical thinking skills would see that.

The only possible way they can exist in real life is if something caused the victim to become completely feral while also causing a high resistance to, maybe even nullifying the ability to feel (look up CIPA or HSAN Type 4), pain. Or if somebody goes all Mass Effect Reaper in a cemetary and creates husks.

I doubt he was referring to kids, just people who are more than old enough to be capable of figuring things like this out and see the obvious differences. However, that doesn't take away from the fact that if you're not into or are bored of zombies, you're probably going to be a bit put off by all the similarities between zombies and the infected.

MikeyDucati13946d ago

@Tony-Red-Grave

I would be a fool to imply that we were the best. And a fool I am not. My generation had their problems too. Yet, we didn't get into a heavy discussion about menial things in gaming. The game was either fun or not. That's it. Nowadays, you have all sorts of things to fuss about. Sexism, feminism, homosexuality and its acceptance in games and so forth. So much to fuss about.

LOL if that last comment is a slight I can't tell. I'm still enjoying a childhood passion of mines; gaming. But that's the beauty of growing up...you gain wisdom so that when somebody says something to you that would upset a child, it won't upset you.

xReDeMpTiOnx3946d ago (Edited 3946d ago )

With that much succes of course hate come along with it.

Last of us single handley destroys every Xbox exclusive in terms of media acclaim and most perfect scores and matter of fact I believe it has the most perfect scores in gaming history.

GurlPleaseBye3946d ago

Child, bye! This Article has nothing to do with xbox...yet you come for it. Explain. What gives, sis? TLoU destroys every game this generation...PERIOD! (Except UMvC3)

CrimsonStar3946d ago

why did you bring up the Xbox? Man this site is going down the drain fast .

Fanboys < Gamers

rpd1233946d ago

It's been in the drain for a while.

CrossingEden3946d ago

saying that your enemy type isn't zombies is pretty pretentious naughty dog -_-

The Last Of Us Series Has Remarkable Potential For Spin-Offs

Najam from eXputer writes "It's time fore a new installment in the series, not another pointless remaster."

anast83d ago

They are working on something new. Not to be rude but it is impossibility stupid to think ND next major announcement is going to be a remaster or their next Last of Us entry is going to be another remaster.

AlterRecs80d ago

I think this is in response to them releasing a remaster for the sequel, a game that didn't need a remaster.

Basically a "why did you put out a remaster no one asked for when you have all there options available"

anast80d ago

They remaster is to put out something quick while they are deving new stuff. I don't get how people can be so static.

AlterRecs79d ago

There's no news about a third game being in production, you're just assuming that they're working on something that they aren't

anast79d ago

When they release the news to start the hype-train, you can give me my props then.

DrDoomer83d ago

I want an alternate timeline spin-off, where part 2 never happened.

CrimsonWing6983d ago

They’ve already done Remasters of 1 and 2… what else is there to Remaster?

AlterRecs80d ago

Considering they remastered the first game twice, who knows lol

CrimsonWing6980d ago

That was a Remake. I guess they could do that to 2, but man…. They should wait a couple generations so it can look like a major upgrade.

The Last Of Us Online Devs Celebrate Their Experience With The Canceled Game

The team is sad for losing out on such a great project but celebrates its growth because of spending time on it.

Chocoburger128d ago

All they had to do was make a basic online mode like their previous games. Instead they wanted more money and choose to go live service which makes games worse in my opinion.

What a waste of time and money, what a shame.

seanpitt2383d ago

I can't wait for season 2 so they can kill Joel off in the first 2 episodes!! Then it will be just Abby and Ellies revenge plot!

Something is telling me that this won't happen though because it wouldn't make sense, oh wait

Linzoid128d ago

Not sure why they didn’t just make Factions 2. There was no need to make it a live service.

TLoU Factions was a great addition such a shame they couldn’t be bothered to remaster that for PS5 considering the crazy high price tag of the remaster of a remaster…

anast127d ago

This is something to be celebrated. This studio is smart and they get it, even factions 2 wouldn't've have been worth the time. I am surprised they didn't just remaster the first one though, but actually how popular was Factions?
