Five PS3 Exclusives We Wish Weren't PS3 Exclusives

With the announcement this week that Metal Gear Solid: The Legacy Collection isn’t coming to the Xbox 360, we started thinking about titles that we wished had made the jump to Microsoft’s platform. We came up with a list as long as your arm, that spanned several consoles but in the end, the Xbox 360’s natural closest competitor seemed to be the obvious one to focus on.

So in this week’s Friday Five, we’re covering the five PS3 exclusive titles that we wish weren’t PS3 exclusive titles...

Limited by space unfortunately - we could only choose five. I narrowed it down from 11. :)

hellzsupernova4027d ago

interesting choices there. I thought the bigger names would be on the list for xbox gamers.
like
inFamous
Resistance 3 was incredible i think xbox gamers would appreciate that game!!!

also i honestly think Uncharted 3 was more epic!!
the plane part and the boats blew my mind

Such a negative approach to the title. Shouldn't it say 5 reasons you should get a ps3

if you really wanted to play these games is not hard to do

It's refreshing to read an article from an Xboxer that appreciates our console's exclusives for once. Well done Ken Barnes. If only everyone was as accepting...

Gazondaily4027d ago

"If only everyone was as accepting..."

I think this about the Sony fanboys on this site every day.

csreynolds4025d ago

Bravo. You single-handedly ruined the moment...

*shakes head*

KentBlake4028d ago

The difference is that Xbox exclusives sometimes stop being exclusives (Dead Rising, Mass Effect, etc.), while Sony's don't.

I_LOVE_MYSELF4028d ago

Devil May Cry, Tekken, Metal Gear, Joe Danger, Final Fantasy... you were saying?

barb_wire4028d ago

Metal Gear? that was on the MSX2 back in 1987, Final Fantasy started out on the NES in 1990 (in the US) and the SNES in 1991.. also Tekken was released on the GBA in 2001.

I_LOVE_MYSELF4028d ago (Edited 4028d ago )

I'm also taking individual games in to consideration, barb_wire. Not many people were saying "Final Fantasy 13 going to 360 doesn't matter... it was a Nintendo franchise back in the day". PS3 fans were furious because they lost an exclusive. 360 had a numbered FF game before that too, but 13 was a killer blow at the time.

Metal Gear Solid games normally get announced as exclusives, but move to other platforms. (Regardless of where the series originated)

And your most stupid comment is Tekken, because that is just blatantly proving me right since Tekken had become available on another platform too.

Inception4028d ago

@GametimeUK

I don't see Ar Tonelico 1-3, Disgaea, Yakuza 1-5 & three spin-off, Tales of Xillia, Valkyria Chronicles 1-3, MGS 4, Persona 1-4 (not to be confuse with P4 Arena the fighting game), One Piece: Pirate Warrior, Dark Cloud, Wild Arms, etc, are making an appearance in xbox or nintendo console.

nix4027d ago

God of war series. Uncharted series. motorstorm series. resistance series. LBP series. gran turismo series. Yakuza series. Infamous series... argh so many other exclusives series are never gonna appear on any other platform.

Why o why4027d ago (Edited 4027d ago )

Gamertime is right. Those games were exclusive. Sony themselves said 3rd party exclusives would die out so they built the infrastructure to develop their own.. you can disagree with gamertime but by doing that you're disagreeing with Sony themselves. Many of those games, as we know them, were only on sonys platform but aren't now.

Add gta to gtimes list

KMxRetro4028d ago

Already got two, thanks, but not everyone has that luxury.

TXIDarkAvenger4028d ago

I don't even think its luxury to own all 3 systems by now. They have got down in price a lot from launch and have sales here and there. If you want to play these games, buy a PS3. Same thing vice-versa.

DigitalRaptor4027d ago (Edited 4027d ago )

The thing is KMxRetro, I understand you've got to produce content for your site. But you've already got 2 PS3s so why bother submitting this article?

Games are exclusive for many reasons and wishing for them is redundant and only causes frustration. Write an article like "5 PS3 exclusives worth getting a PS3 for" cause that is the only solution to longing for these games to perhaps come to Xbox at some point.

smashman984028d ago

Ppl who say that really need to realize how much of a jerk they sound like when they say that. It doesn't come off as sensible it comes off as snobbish

Kratoscar20084028d ago

Yeah here in my country even the lowest priced PS3 is a month and a half of pay worth.

He is an ignorant asshole.

DigitalRaptor4027d ago (Edited 4027d ago )

"Yeah here in my country even the lowest priced PS3 is a month and a half of pay worth."

Then work for a month and a half, save up and get one. It's what people do in the real world. Unless bills and rent are your priorities, for which I could understand, but PS3 isn't the console for rich people who can afford it - I worked for it and saved up for it. Simple as that. Nothing ignorant or snobbish about that. If you want something, you'll work for it.

smashman984027d ago

@digitalraptor I'm not denying the fact that if you want something you should save up and buy it. That should go without saying.

But with that being said its not fair to assume that just because someone enjoys a few games on a system doesn't mean they want one, and that is why its snobbish.

cooperdnizzle4027d ago

@ Digital Raptor. I would like to see you save up for one if it took you a month and a half and that was all of your money. He is not talking about extra cash he is talking about all the money he would make in a month and a half. In America you could make 300$ in a day, so yea not much to save up for. In other countries that could take "Months" And that my friend is the real world.

Microsoft once tried to nab LittleBigPlanet from Sony after a few drinks

Microsoft had a good idea but fumbled it again.

Cacabunga3d ago (Edited 3d ago )

Project Spark idea was decent but they quickly gave up ..
LBP was wonderful

ApocalypseShadow4d ago

Microsoft in a nutshell. Always tried to poach Sony employees, games, 3rd party games and devices like the depth camera that was turned into Kinect but was running on PS2 before Xbox 360. Wouldn't be surprised they wanted LBP. Just like they worked behind the scenes pushing the MLB to bring Sony's baseball game to Xbox instead of making their own.
https://www.playstationlife...

They didn't spend years trying to develop their own baseball game. They wanted Sony's game.

They're scum.

Zachmo1823d ago

Microsoft didn't force MLB on Xbox. MLB gave Sony 2 options either go multiplat or risk losing the license.

Rynxie2d ago

And why do you think MLB said that? I believe Ms approached MLB.

ApocalypseShadow2d ago (Edited 2d ago )

Totally ridiculous comment.

The only exclusivity Sony had was to their own creation of The Show. Microsoft could have paid the MLB for the license just like Sony did and made their own baseball game.

Microsoft instead, groomed MLB for years in trying to poach Sony's game and bring it to Xbox. They're worth 3 TRILLION dollars. You think that's not enough money to make their own baseball game? Don't be delusional.

Microsoft spun it like they always do and told the media that they had to trust Sony with their hardware. After they put Sony in that position of not having a choice. Either go multiplatform or stop making one of their successful games. That's a no win scenario.

And what did Microsoft do? They didn't try to sell the game to the Xbox community. They put it on game pass to hurt Sony. Pushing the idea of why buy games that are $70 when you can play them in their cheap service for $10. It was a dirty tactic.

You fell for the Kool aid drink Microsoft served you instead of spitting it out. Hope it tasted good because you were fooled by Phil and the gang.

Xbox executive Sara Bond has told Axios that Microsoft spent a number of years trying to get MLB The Show onto Xbox consoles. And when it finally succeeded in breaking off PlayStation’s long-held exclusivity, the company had to “trust” Sony with pre-release Xbox Series X/S consoles.

Bond revealed that MLB The Show “always came up” in conversations between Microsoft and the Major League Baseball organization. “We always said, ‘We love this game. It would be a huge opportunity to bring it to Xbox.'” she recalled. However, when Microsoft’s efforts materialized, it put the company in an awkward situation where it had to send in pre-release consoles to a rival company.

Lying to yourself is unbecoming.

Article link tells you all you need to know in Sarah Bond's own words.

Hereandthere2d ago

They were too cheap/inept/lazy to develop their own mlb game, so they port begged for years and bribed the mlb to make the show multiplatform. Like i said many times, xbox brought nothing to the table their 24 years, ZERO.

ApocalypseShadow1d 21h ago

At least you and others get it. Note drank the Kool aid and asked for seconds thinking it was refreshing.

Most don't even know how it all played out but it's there in black and white for all to see. Microsoft brought it up for years until the MLB forced Sony's hand. It was a win win for Microsoft. Kill one reason to buy a PlayStation or kill the game by dropping it in a cheap service to kill Sony's sales numbers on PlayStation.

"However, Healey said Media Molecule wouldn't have felt right doing that, adding it would have been "morally corrupt"."

Major kudos to Media Molecule for being an upright studio with principles.

Cockney1d 16h ago

They chose well, Sony gave them the backing to pursue their dreams with no restrictions even tho their games especially dreams have very niche appeal. Media molecule and Sony deserve respect for this in an age of risk averse publishing.

RNTody3d ago (Edited 3d ago )

Great, more stories like this please. Show the last of the zombies holding the line what we've been saying for years: Microsoft is anti competition, anti industry and has no interest in making games at all.

But hey, at least there's an Xbox Games Showcase to look forward to, right?

Inverno3d ago

Well considering SONY just killed the series, LBP would've been dead by now either way. Though MM probably wouldn't exist by now either, so I'm glad they stayed with SONY, hopefully they don't get shut down any time soon or ever honestly.

Inverno3d ago

They shut down the servers, that's millions of user created levels gone. That and dead are pretty much the same, it's also been years since 3 and they cancelled HUB soooo.

2d ago
fsfsxii2d ago

They shutdown the servers because no one was playing, no one in the community cared about the user created levels so why keep them up? Wtf you guys would never succeed in running a business.

Inverno2d ago

Yea dood no one was playing so they shut off the servers. Cause people with enough common sense can't just Google why they were actually shut of, right?
