Last week in an unassuming conference hall in Brighton, NCSoft and Carbine Studios gave select members of the gaming press a detailed look at WildStar.
The sci-fi MMORPG was first announced way back in 2011, but since then details have been rather hard to come by regarding Carbine Studios’ debut game, but thankfully that ends today. Due to embargos we can’t reveal absolutely everything we saw at the event, but we can share with you the following choice chunks.
Justin van Huyssteen from NoobFeed writes - The Metaverse is a nebulous concept that has been floated about, by some, as the next big thing, and people often want to jump on board these kinds of things. Metaverse has been in the news a lot, but should it be in the news as often as it is? Or is it just another gimmick?
I have no interest in a metaverse, just give me a good single player game. And to answer your question: no, it isn't.
Carbine Studios announced in September that the game would be shut down and that the studio would be closing. Since the announcement, players have been able to enjoy the full game without restriction and with a number of in-game events firing off for the last time.
WildStar offers epic high adventure, where players make their mark as Explorers, Soldiers, Scientists or Settlers and lay claim to a mysterious planet on the edge of known space.
Which business model will it use? Monthly fees?
I like the art style (kinda reminds me of Jak and Daxter), but I'm pretty much through with the MMO scene until there's a serious shake-up. I've bought into the promise of "revolutionary" gameplay one too many times to get excited for these anymore.
