I cant believe DmC on PS3 outsold the 360 version 2:1 with just the physical copies, werent DMC4 sales on both platforms pretty close?

NovusTerminus4121d ago

This is worldwide. In Japan DmC sold 5k on the 360, PS3 was 100k thats where the different is at.

On another note, DmC failed to match DMC4's so far.

NYC_Gamer4121d ago (Edited 4121d ago )

DMC will drop in price just like Resident Evil 6 did

MaxXAttaxX4121d ago

PS3 versions of games outselling 360 versions isn't really something new.

hellvaguy4121d ago

"PS3 versions of games outselling 360 versions isn't really something new"

Sales of Skyrim and Black Ops 1 and 2 are waving hello. You know games sales numbers that actually matter.

Anyways, moot point. bring on next gen!

Divine4121d ago

come on this is all just more proof of which consoles are worthy and those which are not. and once again wii you cannot rival ps3 or 360 systems, and forget about comparing to next gen. They way things look if i didn't know anything about games i would consider wii u some type of portable handheld device since it is only on par with portable devices. of course ps3 would be dominating though no surprise there, we produce quality.

kingjoker344121d ago

PSP outsold the PSV?
mhm...

AdvanceWarsSgt4121d ago

"WiiU on par with portable devices"

Being extremely hyperbolic there, dontcha think?

Persistantthug4121d ago

versions of games quite a bit these days.

For example,
ASSASSIN'S CREED 3 and RESIDENT EVIL 6 sold more on the PS3

Muerte24944121d ago

you're on a roll for being wrong. Sony has stated that they don't pay for any exclusives and companies only do so by their choice and nothing else.
http://spong.com/article/13...

Microsoft paid for to get GTA4 the same time as ps3. 75 million to be exact.
http://www.gamespot.com/new...

darthv724121d ago

this isnt 2007 anymore. sony pays for things just like MS does. That is just the nature of business in this generation.

to still think otherwise is behind the times.

AngelicIceDiamond4121d ago

Assassin's Creed 3 Resident Evil 5 6 has Sold more on PlayStation. Japanese titles usually sell more on PlayStation.

But that's about it. Everything else sells better on Xbox. Hopefully you know this? That's how its been for..well since this gen started.

"PS3 versions of games outsell Xbox 360." Sorry but that's a huge total lie. If that's the case we would be seeing PlayStation logos beside most 3rd party games.

Devs want to show off their flag shipped games on the most popular console.

Skips4121d ago (Edited 4121d ago )

@AngelicIceDiamond

"Devs want to show off their flag shipped games on the most popular console."

Then in that case, it would go PS3 > 360 world wide right? lol. Considering the PS3 has been outselling the 360 WW for many years. Anyways, it's common knowledge that MANY (if not most) genres, other than shooters, sell more on PS3, except for maybe WRPG's.

Racing games, fighting games, platformers, hack n slash games, JRP's, and action adventure games most of the time sell better on PS3. Of course shooters are the most popular genre right now so you thinking "Everything else sells better on Xbox" is understandable.

Of course you're wrong though.

UnholyLight4121d ago

Kinda generalizing here but I'd say games like DmC are more geared towards the Sony crowd. Most people I know on Xbox 360 including myself HATE games like that.

4121d ago
Gamer19824121d ago

Worldwide sales really helped with DMC but it just shows again that outside of shooters ps3 gamers buy more compared to 360. Most 360 gamers get a 360 for Halo and Gears with the multis on top whereas people buy PS3 for more than that.

UnholyLight4120d ago (Edited 4120d ago )

Yeah somewhat true. But I wouldn't call Xbox a "Halo and Gears only" type of machine. The Sony gamers tend to be into the God of War's and the DmC's and stuff. I've never been into that style of gaming and that's why I prefer Xbox. I can't speak for the other millions of Xbox gamers but yes my games are indeed MOSTLY shooters, but I have plenty of racing games, Assassin's Creed type games, sports games, kinect games (I'm not just a pure hardcore). This gen is the first time I've ever been remotely interested in an RPG style game (Elder Scrolls)

I for one just can't get into anything else, but I was so happy I tried out Elder Scrolls Oblivion because that really changed my perspective.

Side note: If you like games similar to Command and Conquer, in WWII style, but with a twist you should REALLY REALLY REALLY try the game RUSE. Most underrated game ever it is so much fun (PS3 and 360). I just play Battles all the time!

Animal Crossing New Leaf is doing great. At third place worldwide and it's only out in Japan.

Tewi-Inaba4121d ago

I believe this is the 1st week it has been outsold too
pretty amazing considering it's been 11 weeks

MRMagoo1234121d ago

Animal crossing are good games its to be expected i think.

KING854121d ago

Some good numbers on wall fronts, but the Wii U and PS Vita need to pick it up. Once those new games come those respective platforms should see a boost in sales.

EddieNX 4121d ago

Whilst what you say is true , The wiiu is far from in the same ball park as the PS vita yet. The Vita has been out for over a year globaly and is on 4 Million. The Wiiu has been out less than 2 months globaly and is on 3M. By the time the wiiu has been out for a Year+ like the vita has , expect over 10,000,000 Wiiu's sold.

Especially as killer games come in time for this years holiday season.

I know Sony fans want to pretend the Wiiu is somehow in the same boat as the vita , but it simply is not and will be successfull by end of 2013.

Don't believe me ? Wait and see.

KING854121d ago

I know you can't respond, but it was never meant to suggest they are in the same boat. It's true things are much dire for the Vita and it is by no stretch to say that gamers want this thing to pick up and start selling like hotcakes. Once the likes of Kilzone, JRPGs for Japan are released things should look brighter.

HammadTheBeast4121d ago

Funny, since Kill zone Mercenaries will look better than most Wii U games.

GuyManDude4121d ago

10,000,000? I think you're overestimating Nintendo's "hardcore" fanbase, at least from a global perspective. Europe's interest in the WiiU is dismal right now, about on-par with the Gamecube's launch. And the Gamecube had Super Smash Bros Melee a month after launch and Super Mario Sunshine within a year of launch.

There are two things that could get the WiiU over 10 million by the end of 2013:

1) A price drop

2) Casual games

But price is the key. The WiiU won't match the Wii's success at $300/$350. If there isn't a price drop, people will have to spend $350/$400 to buy a WiiU with Wii Fit U this summer, and that's if they already have the balance board.

I don't see casual gamers buying the WiiU for $350, just like casual gamers didn't buy the 3DS for $250 and currently the PSV for $250.

AdvanceWarsSgt4121d ago (Edited 4121d ago )

@HammadTheOne Completely irrelevant point (and one that's not based on fact anyway).

xursz4121d ago

Wii U did 10k more than Vita. Fanboys still claim the vita is somehow dead but Wii U is doing phenomenal. Give me a break.

If Japan weren't Nintendo nutjobs the Wii would be outselling WiiU today. That is bad. But don't tell that to a Nintendo fanboy.

Microsoft once tried to nab LittleBigPlanet from Sony after a few drinks

It turns out that many moons ago, Microsoft once had its eye on the Sony published LittleBigPlanet series.

Microsoft had a good idea but fumbled it again.

Cacabunga11h ago(Edited 11h ago)

Project Spark idea was decent but they quickly gave up ..
LBP was wonderful

ApocalypseShadow1d 6h ago

Microsoft in a nutshell. Always tried to poach Sony employees, games, 3rd party games and devices like the depth camera that was turned into Kinect but was running on PS2 before Xbox 360. Wouldn't be surprised they wanted LBP. Just like they worked behind the scenes pushing the MLB to bring Sony's baseball game to Xbox instead of making their own.
https://www.playstationlife...

They didn't spend years trying to develop their own baseball game. They wanted Sony's game.

They're scum.

Zachmo18210h ago

Microsoft didn't force MLB on Xbox. MLB gave Sony 2 options either go multiplat or risk losing the license.

Rynxie55m ago

And why do you think MLB said that? I believe Ms approached MLB.

ApocalypseShadow4m ago(Edited 0m ago)

Totally ridiculous comment.

The only exclusivity Sony had was to their own creation of The Show. Microsoft could have paid the MLB for the license just like Sony did and made their own baseball game.

Microsoft instead, groomed MLB for years in trying to poach Sony's game and bring it to Xbox. They're worth 3 TRILLION dollars. You think that's not enough money to make their own baseball game? Don't be delusional.

Microsoft spun it like they always do and told the media that they had to trust Sony with their hardware. After they put Sony in that position of not having a choice. Either go multiplatform or stop making one of their successful games. That's a no win scenario.

And what did Microsoft do? They didn't try to sell the game to the Xbox community. They put it on game pass to hurt Sony. Pushing the idea of why buy games that are $70 when you can play them in their cheap service for $10. It was a dirty tactic.

You fell for the Kool aid drink Microsoft served you instead of spitting it out. Hope it tasted good because you were fooled by Phil and the gang.

OtterX13h ago

"However, Healey said Media Molecule wouldn't have felt right doing that, adding it would have been "morally corrupt"."

Major kudos to Media Molecule for being an upright studio with principles.

Tody_za13h ago(Edited 13h ago)

Great, more stories like this please. Show the last of the zombies holding the line what we've been saying for years: Microsoft is anti competition, anti industry and has no interest in making games at all.

But hey, at least there's an Xbox Games Showcase to look forward to, right?

Inverno12h ago

Well considering SONY just killed the series, LBP would've been dead by now either way. Though MM probably wouldn't exist by now either, so I'm glad they stayed with SONY, hopefully they don't get shut down any time soon or ever honestly.

Inverno10h ago

They shut down the servers, that's millions of user created levels gone. That and dead are pretty much the same, it's also been years since 3 and they cancelled HUB soooo.
