Final Fantasy Cover Art: The Good, the Bad, the Boring

Gamervision: "Usually, when the box art for an upcoming game is revealed, it's not Earth-shattering, news-worthy information. When said game is a long awaited title in one of gaming's oldest series, though, most of us take a moment to fully comprehend the image that will grace its cover. And when the words "Final" and "Fantasy" followed by a Roman numeral are printed on the box as well, all bets are off. As a franchise known as much for its art direction as its melodramatic plots and buckle-clad characters, a lot is expected of any artwork associated with the Final Fantasy series. With the reveal of the game's North American cover art today, we thought it was as good a time as any to go back and take a look at Final Fantasy North American pack shots from the last twenty years."

I didn't enjoy FFX as much as VII, VIII or IX but for me, it has the best box-art of all. And in second place is FFVII.

it's sleek sutle and shows the main character quite well. not too much of anything and nothing over done. it's just the best in the series as far as Box art goes... as for enjoyment facter.. 9 would have to be my fav, then 10, then 7, 10-was pretty good to me 2 because of it's class changing in real time. It was great.

Square has gotten lazy. The box art for FF13 looks like the box art for FF10

Sevir045278d ago

She's never looked soo good. i swear square certainly knows how to draw up characters. kudos to Nomura-san for awesome looking Characters.

I agree with you on everything

FF9 was the best Game and this Cover is unique and very simple (which means beautiful and innovative). I think if they had left the logo it would still look awesome like how FF12 was in Japan and Europe

Oh and one more thing, why the hell does the American Box art look so fugly compared to Japanese & European boxart

Hopefully this is the 'Final' Fantasy.

The way it was handled was so dumb. One shots in melee...your teammates are to ostupid to get away from its attack. So you most often end up alone in a certain fight.

Two words, one accessory....Safety Bit

Needing an accessory to keep a.i from dying and only one of them isnt great.

Final Fantasy IV Pixel Remaster Review – An Epic Tale Of Pixelated Portrayals

Gary Green said: We’re finding ourselves in a similar position with the Pixel Remaster edition of Final Fantasy IV as we were with Final Fantasy III since, once again, we’ve received a slightly upscaled, more vibrant port of the original game when there’s already an expanded 3D remake available. As such, we’re playing a game which, even after its long-awaited release, still lives very much in the shadow of its remake.

If only they didn't screw ps4 owners over with a physical release. I'd have ran through this in a heartbeat.

The first one I played, it was the one that made me fall in love with JRPGs and is still my favorite to this day. A masterpiece
