Game Rant: "While anyone who’s already played the title won’t gain anything new from the portable iteration, there’s no denying that Donkey Kong Country Returns is an exceptional game. As one of the best platformers in recent memory (not just on the Wii, but debatably of all time), 3DS owners can’t go wrong with Donkey Kong Country Returns 3D. Those that have played the original to death will enjoy the additional 9th world that is accessible after beating the initial campaign, but they may not want to trek through a game they completed a short time ago to access the content. That said, it’s still a phenomenal title, and the ability to play it on the go is far from a bad thing."
Phil writes, "A few weeks ago was the 40th anniversary of Nintendo's main monkey, Nintendo's awesome ape, Nintendo's super simian: Donkey Kong. This Tuesday 10s focuses on the best of the banana bunch in the Donkey Kong series, from main games to spin-offs! It's a banana slamma' of games, so let's get to it."
Tropical Freeze is way better than Country Returns and Dixie's whatever it's called. It's easily in top 3 DK games.
My first reaction was... They made 10 Donkey Kong games?! Then I thought that must be every single one... then I checked the list and Donkey Kong 64 is not even on it. No wonder Nintendo won't make more 3D Donkey Kong. I really enjoyed tropical freeze but I am still waiting for the next 3D game. Its really the only thing I want from the series at this point. Also, I can't take Jungle beat seriously...
Half-Glass Gaming: "Production of the 3DS has been discontinued as of September of 2020, but there’s definitely an argument to be made for adopting the system in 2021, especially if you just really like playing awesome video games."
