The Koalition writes: "Nintendo is releasing a sequel to The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past for the Nintendo 3DS in 2013. As a huge Zelda fan, I was hit with a series of emotions. At first it was pure excitement, because anything related to Zelda is a milestone event for me as a fan and a gamer. It usually marks an important part in the lifespan of a Nintendo console, whether handheld or otherwise. Then I was hit with confusion. Why would they release a sequel to a 2D top-down Zelda game after all these years that takes place in that part of the timeline? Finally, I was hit with a pang of apprehension. A Link to the Past is often regarded as one of the greatest games of all time, with good reason, so does Nintendo really want to toy with that? How will they explain its inclusion in the timeline? Before I ask too many questions though, let's take a look at what we know so far."
The best Legend of Zelda games experiment and tackle new grounds for the industry. These are the essential titles in the series you need to play.
I am a huge Zelda fan and love them all, but for me Ocarina Of Time is the greatest and my second all time favourite game after Final Fantasy VII.
Oh gee can't imagine what Number 1 is
....
A Link to the Past, Ocarina of Time and Wind Waker etc is better than Breath of the Wild.
Majora's Mask still holds as my favorite to this day, despite being the black sheep of the series.
I love them all, but Wind Walker, Link to the Past and Minish Cap are my favorites

Would have preferred this on the WII U could have convinced me to buy one.
Good move by Nintendo to make this game but concerning the new announcement that now they won't be having an E3 Conference, does this even matter? Not having this shown on the big screen at E3 is puzzling and a smaller event could easily get overlooked among everything else that gets shown at E3. On the other hand, If the game is playable or shown in some capacity on the E3 floor then everything will be cool.
Maybe it's a different Link than the one in LttP.
It might not even be the same timeline split.
Maybe this is about what LttP Link was doing, not in the Game Over timeline, but in one of the other ones.
Maybe this game isn't cannon. Maybe it turns out to be a dream. Maybe Miyamoto said "You know what, I'm tired of writing stories for my games. I'm gonna do what I do for Mario games for all my other ones."
i honestly felt like they should have remade it instead of having this "new" link to the past game that introduces new things.
if they are adding new mechanics, story, and whatnot, they should have renamed it something entirely different. i feel nintendo is just looking to cash in on the name.
