Plants Vs Zombies: Garden Warfare won't feature a campaign and might be a downloadable title, it has been revealed.
Producer Brian Lindey said PopCap is "working out" whether to launch the third-person shooter spin-off at retail, adding it will focus on 24-person multiplayer with playable plants and zombies factions.
"Right now we're more mostly focused on a multiplayer and co-operative experience, just because it's a really different title - we wanted to focus on things we knew we could do really well," he told Digital Spy.
Lindey also explained why Plants Vs Zombies: Garden Warfare is a timed Xbox One and Xbox 360 exclusive, saying Microsoft has been a "great partner".
"Pretty much a lot of the early development was on Xbox platforms, and it was a natural way for us to work for that platform," he said.
In this list, PSLS breaks down the best PS4 zombie games, in honor of Days Gone. Zombie games have been quite popular for a while and PS4 has a ton of heavy hitters in that genre for you to choose from.
Uh oh have you’ll upset so many people by calling Days Gone a zombie game or grouping it alongside other zombie games 😂
The month of March is starting off with an absolute bang for gamers on all platforms with some amazing deals to take advantage of. Here are the best digital and physical deals right now, but be warned that some of them expire soon.
Twinfinite Writes: Zombies are some of the most popular enemies in gaming these days, but these 10 games actually let you step into the shoes of the shambling creatures.
No campaign, no buy. And I'm probably one of the biggest PvZ fan around.
This game is plain awesome.
Kind of stupid. A game like this would be great with campaign and multiplayer.
If it's just a multiplayer title, it should be download only.
I don't know what they have to fear in pushing it back, I highly doubt Xbox One makes it's own launch.
Either way PS4/PC weren't going to get it right away anyways, so a push back doesn't mean much.
I'm deeply disappointed. The campaign for Plants vs Zombies games is what made the franchise what it is.
I'll agree with jmc8888 that if it's an exclusive multiplayer title, it should be download only. I'll go a step further to say that there's no way I'll purchase it for even 50% off a 'normal' AAA game retail price.
