Should we be Excited for the PS4’s DualShock 4 Controller?

I dont really see any reason to be worried, the analog sticks look improved and the R2/L2 buttons are said to be fixed. Its also bulkier and a bit wider, which many asked for. Im sure the touchpad will be put to good use by developers too.

So far I don't see much difference between the dual shock 4 and the other 3, to me it's going to be the great controller with some additional features.

Nintendo is all about changing controllers while sony is all about adding features to already love controller. Who knows maybe biometric will be put in it too.

The only thing I'm worried about is the move sensor at the top on it...if it makes it's way into the final design

I mean would I have to set up a PS camera, would I have to pay more for my console because of this....something I wouldn't want to set up.

As my hands got bigger, I kinda hope its a little "bigger" too. Not too much, but to a point of fitting in my hand a little better. I think the Banana design was stupid, but at least Sony knew their controller needed to grow.

The dualshock has been a staple in Playstation gaming for 15 years. There is a reason it has lasted that long with very minimal changes cause like they say if it ain't broken why fix it.

However the controller does need to evolve to the ever changing landscape of the industry. Sony has just done that with what we have seen so far but the overall design is still the Dualshock which in my opinion it is a good thing.

So yes i am excited at what NEW Sony has in store for the PS4, hopefully they can return that feeling that everyone had when the original PSone was released.

I want stronger rumble. I didn't think the rumble in the DS3 was strong enough.

Also, the heat and cool function sounds cool. That would add another sense of realism other than rumble. However, the rumor of having your controller feel emotion affect the game DOES NOT sound cool or fun. However, if it was a game's priority to use your current emotion and state (like sad and tired) and incorporate in into the game would be a great idea (if done properly, of course). Other than that, it would definitely a huge trouble for gamers who just got out of school/sport practice/work, and just want to sit down and play a videogame, only to see their character losing health/struggling to walk/blurred motion/etc just because the player is not feeling refreshed and energetic.

I look forward to all things tech. I am a pc gamer and consoles getting stronger mean more potential for better games which means PCs will be pushed even further as well and this is good for everyone.

Here's a pattern I noticed, when it was first revealed and nobody thought it was the real deal, people said it was ugly and didn't like it and got massive agrees.
Now that it seems to be the final design, people are "excited" and happy about it. Now people are ever so cautiously admitting that the DS design is small and that this new one is bigger and perfect for their hands.
I really hope you guys realize that it doesn't matter what kind of controller SONY comes out with, you're all gonna say it's the perfect controller.

Well lets just say that im happy that Sony didnt go crazy and copy the Wii U controller. Because if theres one controller that i despise and thats Nintendos stupid bulky, cheap and uncomfortable tablet controller. BTW i tried one at Gamestop and at my friends house so i have a valid opinion on this.

When i first saw this controller i said that it looked ugly and that its bulky and unconfortable. But knowing a little bit about tech i know that this controller isnt the final design so hopefully they will unveil something much better at the 20th of febuary. If not then i will just have to adapt to it. I could switch to the 720 to gain access to a different controller but knowing what Microsoft did with the core this gen i really dont trust them.

I appreciate your opinion though Jamal and dont be afraid of the 20th even if Sony has a fanstastic conference the 720 will still be a good console and much better than the Wii U.

EDIT: Heres a fun fact the controllers that i hate the most are designed by Nintendo and those are.

Why would I need to fear? I'm not shackled by fanboyism on what console I buy, I'm shackled by consumerism.
I gone on record saying that if either Microsoft or SONY adopt the no used games model then I'll buy a Wii U. I've also gone on record and said that I'd skip SONY's next offering if they didnt update the archaic DS design. I think this new design is indeed superior to the DS3 and I hope any further tweaks make it even further less than the DS rather than more like it.
PS, I own an xbox 360, ps3 and an NDS.

The only button on the move controller with analog is the T trigger. I suddenly realised that it's face buttons have a hollow click to them.
