Chris Rooke: ''We're still recovering from Nintendo Direct a couple of weeks ago when Satoru Iwata announced that many big Nintendo franchises would be storming onto Wii U this year. Yet it seems that Nintendo isn't resting on its laurels with promises from Iwata that fan favourites are coming, and that more unannounced games will be coming later this year. So what could be next?''
Other nominees include games like SimCity & Tony Hawk's Pro Skater.
There are some good nominees in this list that are deserving to be inducted also, but I feel Metroid has had the most impact on the industry out of all of these. Look how Metroid influenced the evolution of the Castlevania games, and the "Metroidvania" subgenre of games have become a prevailing force in gaming today. Especially now, Metroidvanias are bigger than ever.
I can very much see Resident Evil being added later too, bc it really did popularize and define the survival horror genre. I would say that one is next in line.
If any Metroid game should get the honor it should be Super Metroid , it's perfection in my eyes . 30 years later and I still feel it's the most epic shit ever .
The GBA remake deserves it or Super Metroid, the original was a very sloppy and rushed game programmed in 3 months and it shows.
If you've never played the remake, it's absolutely a must play, fixes basically every flaw in the game. Check out ExoParadigmGamer's comparison video.
WTMG's Leo Faria: "I respect the hell out of Star Fox for what it was setting out to do in 1993. You gotta love how feisty Nintendo was being, proving the naysayers wrong with their whole “bit wars” schtick. That doesn’t mean I have to like this game… as a game. It’s just not very good. It was a proof of concept, a big fat tech demo. If anything, we ended up getting Star Fox 64, one of the best games of all time (don’t at me) four years later, so that alone is enough to validate the original Star Fox‘s existence. It also marked the beginning of arguably Nintendo’s most neglected and disrespected franchise alongside F-Zero. One I sure hope won’t die with that disgraceful Wii U title as its swan song, its last hoorah. Happy anniversary, you weird, ugly, barely polygonal monstrosity. At the end of the day, we still love you."
I would love it if Nintendo finally did a Chorus type Star Fox game at this point. I think with their characters and their "Nintendo Appeal" - whatever that is - they could bring back Star Fox as a main franchise.
The Chorus game design, or even a Crimson Skies style to a lesser extent, would make for a great template to get Star Fox up and running again and get the franchise out of the rut it's suffering from.
Sure, they can go back to the SNES/N64 era gameplay but...really? Meh. Maybe they can use that corridor gameplay style for a smaller game, released between the big releases, or as Boss Levels at the end of each free roaming chapter for that added "Cinematic Flair".
Star Fox certainly deserves better.
"It’s just not very good."
You wash that filthy mouth!
--It really was something you had to be there for and experience during the early 90's, I understand haha
Super Mario Maker has been a great series for Nintendo, but it is time to move on. How about a Metroid Maker? That would be interesting! Check out Jason Capo’s thoughts for more.
I'd go either for Metroid Maker a Zelda Maker would also be great even a Mario Kart Maker as well.
I have to agree with this article Other M's 3rd person game play is better than Metriod prime's 1st person game play.
well,If you look real closely at both vidz posted on here you'll noticed pace and speed of Samus run animation are similar. Perhaps this is what Nintendo wanted to achieve.

Team Ninja and Retro Studios would work well together. Let RS focus on the level designs and enemy creation, while TN does the gameplay/combat.
If people think that a game come pop up in a year they're out of their minds.
An average game takes 2 years to make, and that's usually an average game.
The best games usually take up to 3 years or more to make. I don't want a lot of games if they are going to be average. I think Nintendo might feel the pressure and release games before they are fully polished which would be a shame.
Looking at the Haters surrounding Nintendo,
I just hope that whatever RETRO is up too makes goes GTA/ Halo/ Dues Ex/ Last of Us scale of Presentation.
Nintendo need to show them how it is done and that it can be done- and make them want some.
I just hope that they merge the ideas of Other M, with Prime and Smash Bros (0-Suit) and have a Next Gen narrative with no doubt HardCore Gameplay and Photo-realistic Graphics.
Nintendo is going to have to be its own personal Jesus (again); cause the 3rd parties are straight-dunderheads.
Again not what I want but, if they want the Core this is a way to make it happen- cause waiting on Rockstar will leave them damned.
hoping to see a new metroid, a new 3d mario , a 2d zelda , a 3d zelda, super mario u 2 along with whats already announced
