I wish this were true but it is a quality control issue. Sony have said they disabled one of the SPUs so that they could use more Cell chips coming off the production line. If a Cell chip came off the line with one bad SPU they could still use it. This was a way to reduce cost. What they might do is open up the seventh SPU since it is restricted to the OS.

I say let the games speak for themselves. Most of these developers are mere extensions of the PR department anyway.

Does controversy create more website hits? That should be the real question. Its funny how the only person who was right all along about the PS3 was Ken Kutaragi, but the "American" media would have everyone believe otherwise. These supposed journalists, analysts, and commentators are always wrong and at the end of the day its ONE game.
I don't think all the naysayers are fanboys and some criticisms are valid in my opinion. In the end Fallout might feel too much like Oblivion and Diablo might feel to much like WOW. Granted both of the previous titles were good games, gamers who envisioned something greater for their favorite franchises feel somewhat cheated for the sake of mass market appeal.
I think storage is a big issue. Games that are not linear in nature are not easily made into multiple disk games. Games like GTA, Assassin's Creed and so forth would be a hard sell on multiple disk seeing as you have a free roaming environment. Games that need to be on one disk will take major hits on sound and textures. Some how I don't see MS sticking to a 10 year plan.
The Wii will be the last nintendo console I buy. Nintendo found that you can sell a game machine as a toy and make more money. This just reaffirms the laymen mentality that video games are seen as toys as opposed to being taken seriously as a medium for creative and artistic expression. If it wasn't for NO MORE HEROES I would have sold my Wii already. Maybe I am being a cynic but logically Nintendo will follow the money.
