This is exactly the right time for TLG.
Firstly, waiting much longer is risky. Interest will eventually fade.
Secondly, E3 is a place to score attention with gameplay footage of TLG, but for an announcement it would have tons of competition. Especially outside the PS fanbase where the name carries less weight.
Finally, the show will be an automatic success if it there. Huge, even, among those who love PS. Why not take the opportunity to blow ...
Even if accurate, this isn't that great a sign. The pricing on these deals is incredibly unsustainable. These bundles are what you see 5 years into a console cycle when the hardware costs have dropped dramatically.
To me, there is a fine line here. Go low enough to kickstart sales, but not so low as to leave those who missed the deal forever waiting for a matching one.
$350 with two bundled games and one 'select game' reads to consumers "thre...
I am really confused by this need to "justify" a game's existence.
Game X isn't "next gen enough!"
Like wth are people talking about? Some games iterate on what worked before and use the power for more polish, others revolutionize gaming. Every generation of hardware has both types of games AND SHOULD!
Imagine the articles we'd see if every game tried to totally change our perceptions of gaming? Everyone would ...
The odd thing is that only IGN is reporting such extreme problems. Other reviewers and day one users are reporting stability.
Is the day one patch the issue?
Who knows. All I can say though, is that is a pretty dumb reason for a game to have a mediocre score, when the ONLY version that will EVER be played by 99.9% of users is vastly better.
The review system is messed up.
Ubisoft has jumped the shark. I honestly think that company just pushed too hard, over-reached, tried too hard to annualize everything, and are running after their tails to please investors...and I honestly think they are cracking.
I think if they don't refocus themselves Ubi will be in serious trouble sooner than most realize.
This gen looks like the end of third party pre-orders for me. In fact, it's shaping up to be: third party games = bargain bin.
This industry has to pause, take a breath and get back on track. Releasing 900p games that run at 20fps in 2014 is senseless.
My interest in this series has been officially assassinated.
Yeah, I mean ADS is good, imo...but I guess Halo purists aren't thrilled.
Sales and user base are the *economic* measures of success in the videogame industry.
By that measure, Sony is ahead and no spin you put on it can change that.
It would be like watching a football game, one team has 42 points, the other has 18. Then you lean over to your friend and say, yeah but the joke is on them, they guy who owns that "winning" team is having financial trouble.
Long term, from a non-fanboy-realist perspective, I...
Mega-bizarre situation. Shocking how long it's dragging.
MS should be working on holding down the exclusives for Xb1. They have interests on both platforms, but the msg PC gamers are receiving right now is that they don't "need" an Xb1. A lot of PC gamers won't buy one any way, but on the other hand, a lot will if they have tons of exclusives being dangled just out of reach.
Pachter is wrong so often that if you take his predictions ironically and bet against them, you would come out on top every time. It's incredible actually, when you think about it.
Yes...so their strategy is to establish that the game is so messed up that servers can barely handle the load of existing users...and that is a strategy to *sell* games??
You're saying...they are holding back the ps+ version on the pretext that the game is broken because it will sell *more* copies than a demo would?
Man...game devs have had it all wrong. Instead of a 'Demos' section on psn they should just have a list of "Games Declared Broke...
Will this finally stop the gaming media from referring to a "slight difference in power" that's "negligible really?"
Also will they stop saying the two consoles are "nearly identical?"
Short answer: nope, sadly.
There's a place for all consoles, I just hate the ignorance of looking at two different things and calling them the same. Especially for people *paid* to know better.
Abriael, you nailed it.
Live by the sword, die by the sword.
I totally agree. I love the art style/vibe, the humour seems fun and light hearted but whenever I see actual gameplay, part of my excitement gets put on hold. VERY curious to see reviews on this one. Crossing my fingers that it lives up to it's potential.
The analyst was Michael Pachter so...take this "information" with a healthy dose of skepticism.
Pachter makes magic eightballs look incredibly clairvoyant.
@donthate
You have missed the point.
"It is a bloody objective truth. 1080p looks way better than 900p, all else being equal."
All else...being...equal.
There are no extra toppings on this pizza.
Also"Significance" here is being measured in 3 ways. People largely care/notice (subjective, but so are most measures of significance) percentage of whole (50% more pixels represents a huge addit...
Further to that, I agree, it shouldn't be a console wars issue.
It is a bloody objective truth. 1080p looks way better than 900p, all else being equal.
Anyone who doesn't see this, is either not observant or blinded by bias.
I don't care what console it's on or who made it.
People need to STOP trying to tell me that 50% more pixels looks the same. It's really pathetic.
It doesn't mean...
On the otherhand many of the MS fanboys who thought that Rise of the Tomb Raider was a "brilliant move" will now be calling Sony "evil and underhanded."
The lesson here is that fanboys NEVER shut up and it would suck to waste your life being one.
Just buy what you like and play what you like.
Personally I say, get as many platforms as you can afford...why miss any exclusives that interest you?
